Yes when it comes to wick testing there will be a difference. Testing hot throw, you’re good before the 10-14 day curing time. For proper wicking, mostly in soy, you’ll need wait a little longer before burning. Typically the 10-14 day is long enough to get more accurate results.

@@StandleyHandcrafted oh I see. I use coconut soy 454 and add in about 2% beeswax. Since it contains soy wax, should I still cure the candles for 2 weeks? I’ve heard conflicting opinions about curing candles, where some say it’s a myth from the soap making world… Would you say curing further hardens the wax so that it needs a hotter burning wick?

Ive heard so much bad things about paraffin wax, is it ok to just use a complete soy wax for melts in your opinion if not why.

There is a lot of unfair bad press around paraffin and its not as bad as some make it out to be. You can find numerous studies that show its not as bad as its been made. You can still do melts in soy as well and its works great.

That’s usually due to the wick being too big or too much oil. Any wax can smoke with those two also happening.

Wow thank you so much for the reply! 😃 blended waxes 929 with 8%. Adding oil at 186 pouring at 170-174 I cure for 10 days or more but I’ve had some literally turn to mush in shipping. And most all sweat badly… any thought

Facebook as a social media app does not suck. Even the Facebook groups don't suck. What sucks are all the toxic people that are in these different groups that I'm in. I feel their negative energy, anger, disrespect, and so forth. Whenever I leave a comment or express my opinion with respect to others I get attached and laughed at. I have left so many Facebook groups because of this. To be honest I prefer to be part of a group in the real world where you meet and see real people rather than strangers behind a screen. But anyways I liked your video.

Suppliles for classes are expensive. I know if you do regular classes you can make your money back over time. Have you heard of situations where the people requesting the class paid for the supplies and the teacher just gets paid for teaching the class?

It’s the wax shrinking as it cools and it pulls from side of the glass. It’s going to happened all the time due to the nature of the waxes.

I am disabled and suffer from PTSD along with depression and anxiety from being a Marine and making candles helps a lot. I have been using 646 soy wax making candles for my family and testing. But have come across a hemp coco soy blend and was wondering if you have tried it or know any thing about it. I really enjoy your videos and the way you explain things from testing wicks waxs and starting up a bunnies. Keep up the great work.

They’re used to help with hot throw if you’re having issues. I haven’t run into issues with the waxes I mainly use.

For molding yes. For candles, no. Crayons don’t work well at all for a candle wax.

Do you mean, how do you know what percentage to add? That really comes down to personal preference and the wax you’re using I prefer 8% in almost all waxes

I just got back into candle making & use them to heat my cabin when the temp drops. Never thought I'd need heat in Hawai'i, but up around 3000'+ elevation by Kilauea, it's been low 50's to high 40's at night this winter. I love it. The dogs hate it. I got outvoted. So my first batch looked great initially. They pushed up like a choc chip.The temp was dropping when I was pouring. 30 minutes later they sunk below the pour. The wax wasn't very hot, the jars were mid 60°. Came here for a tip & makes sense. Next batch I'll do an afternoon one. Now I'm wondering if elevation or humidity play any part...🤔 Next rabbit hole please 🫤
