The question is how many meters the level has to drop since you can’t measure the volume you’re removing, you just have to approximate this I guess.

Concise video thanks - I was freaking out after adding Algae remover and pool instantly went a little cloudy. I saw a little algae on wall of pool - hoping I was getting on top of it before it got worse - this was day before 4th of July Pool party!😭

My Summer Waves above ground pool is running around 4000 bbl after filling this year. Last year was fine. Nobody has any idea why it's so high and the water from the tap if was filled with is normal. The phosphate remover I bought from our local pool store make no difference so I am trying again.

I shocked and then used flocculant and it still didn't work. I think the algae is not killed. What do I do now? How do I get the algae killed? I've already shocked and used baquacil algicide.

Very well explained. I can't keep a good chlorine reading. I was told it was because phosphate reading is about 1000. If I use phosphate remover will I get a good chlorine reading when I add chlorine again before I remove the altered phosphates from the pool?

Excellent info, and delivery. I didn't know that phosphate remover only works on phosphate not locked-up in algae. Very good, and thanks.

Your videos are great. The settings for you audio (I presume a compressor) are so drastic that is very annoying to listen. Understand that for you it might sound cool, because you are the one talking and you sound very "punchy". But for a listener is very different. Think video games: if you are playing, no matter how fast, it's all good. If you are watching the screen when somebody else is playing fast, you get dizzy. Same thing. Just my 2 cents, I've been a sound engineer for 30 years. Cheers.

Thank you so much. This just cleared up so much. You don’t know what this video has done for me. My pool looked fine, but the person at the pool store told me that I had high levels of phosphates, and as soon as I put it in the skimmer the next day, it was cloudy which made me really upset, but after watching this video, I actually googled, and this was the first video that came up on the search After listening it makes perfect sense now. Thank you

Hi there, I am getting a very high content of "calcium" or pasy, white residue from a new brand of chlorine granules I have been using (I am in the Philippines and it is very common to cut anything that can be cut with whatever cheap additive they can. This looks like the chlorine has been cut with chalk or something worse as it is causing build up on my skimmer, pump and pipes and constantly leaving residue on my pool floor. I guess to confirm this to a sell that I am complaining to, should commercial, chlorine granules dissolve in water or is it normal that there is quite a lot of "chalky"residue? Thank you.

I stumbled across your channel searching for "how to fix green pool after rain". After the recent storms in SE Qld, my pool has turned the dreaded green colour. Added chlorine (calcium-based), which raised the calcium hardness a bit too much. Then bought non-calcium based chlorine which has helped. Quick question: are there follow-up activities related to the filter (I have a sand filter) once the colour returns to normal? Thanks for the tips from a fellow ChE. Subscribed, and all the best with your channel!

just keep running the pool it should clear.. mixing ph up in water first can help to stop this happening if you need to add alot... adding a clarifyer might help to.

Recirculation, especially if you have sand pump. U never want to run it on filteration with floc in it or ur sand will look like kitty litter, all clumped. It will ruin ur sand filter. You want to wait for it to settle 1-2 days and then slowly vacuum all that dead algae and debris to waste along with that floc. Then let it filtrate for a few days to see if the rest will clear.

Best explanation of the relationship between something being alkaline and pool alkalinity available. Most importantly it's in metric units. It has been impossible to find anything that isn't in gallons. Also that doesn't omit the small matter, that the volume of the pool effects (defines!) the concentration. However, there remains the issue of guessing what mg/L concentration a coloured strip is. I guess a proper pH meter is required. Thank you Louis: A proper scientific explanation from a proper scientist (chemist).

If you have a cartridge filter take it out and clean it, if you have a media filter give it a good back wash... add a clarifying agent for ex polysheen and run for at least 12 hours or even better a whole day and night... if your still cloudy have a look at how old either your cartridge is or your media... cartridges normally need to be replaced every 12 to 18 months.. and media is 5 years for sand 10 years for glass . Hope that helps

My pool has clear water but algae on the plaster wall surfaces. I robot vac every day and the chlorine levels are around 10 ppm now. (Maybe shocking the pool is necessary. ) The ph is 7.4. It seems the algae has formed a resistant layer and lives in the plaster. I am trying to eliminate a phosphate level of about 700 ppb and used the testing kit you feature in the video. It is easy to use. One issue is trying to find out how concentrated the various phosphate removers are and which are actually concentrated at all.
