Thing is even if it is an authentic Milwaukee tool, Milwaukee will warranty the tool by the date on the tool, not by when you actually purchased it. At the job I was at we had a Milwaukee dealer who would come by the office who told us that's how Milwaukee does their warranty, plus a certified Milwaukee repair guy told me the same thing. If you buy an authentic Milwaukee tool it might have a 5 year warranty on the tool and 3 years on the battery, but then it might be two years old and so you loose some warranty on the tools. I once bought a drill with 5 year warranty and even though it had never been out of the package I lost two years of a 5 year warranty because of that manufacturers date stamped unto the tool. When a dealer sells Milwaukee tools on sale you can bet it's a tool that's been sitting on a shelf that was never sold and it will be an older model and nearly half the warranty is already gone. Yes amazon will sell China knock-off Milwaukee tools with zero warranty but they also sell authentic Milwaukee tools at a huge discount with little or no warranty left on it. This is one reason why I don't like Milwaukee, it's not the tool itself, it's how they warranty their tools. Plus if you buy a Milwaukee tool and do have it repaired, it will only be repaired one time for that specific problem, after that the warranty is void once it was repaired... doesn't matter how much warranty is left on it. Milwaukee will only repair or replace one time only. I know this because I've been thru it on the job from a Milwaukee dealer.

Thanks for comparing the power of the two. I have a 2728-20 and like it, bought a 3017-20 as a second blower. My wife noted the 3017-20 had much lower run time, so I conducted a test using the same fully charged battery. The 3017-20 had half the run time, very disappointing, so I returned it for a refund. I will be buying another 2728-20 or 2724-20.

I have given up on buying Milwaukee tools from anyone except authorized retailers. I go to our local Northern Tools store now. COunterfeits have become so incredibly good that you cannot tell them from the real thing anymore, especially batteries. amazon itself does not sell Milwaukee tools anymore. Near or all of 100% are sold by resellers and you have no idea what you are getting. Warranty is one thing, but the performance of the counterfeit, especially batteries, is abysmal. You are better off to buy the amazon brand of tools than the coutnerfeits. Lastly, Milwaukee, DeWaIt and all of the OEM MUST do something to fight this crazy counterfeiting!! Today it is no longer worth the hassle to buy from anyone except authorized retailers.

@Omnivorous1One unfortunately, a lot of it depends on the material that you are setting the sert into. Verables like thickness of the meterial also make a difference. I normally set the clutch about 2/3rds the range to get started and adjust as needed.

I'm sure that 99% of the Milwaukee tools on Amazon are just taken from the combo packs you can get on sale at Home Depot and elsewhere. When you buy those big "deals" you can get the tools for more than half price, the catch is that you have to spend a lot of money all at once and you may not actually want everything in the bundle. But if all you plan to do is flip it, that's no problem. There are a number of key evidences for this theory, the chief among them is the pricing. Tools like that drill and the impact driver commonly bundled with it are typically very low price, I ran the numbers a few weeks ago, and if they bought one of the sales at Home Depot then resold at the prices I saw on Amazon they would still easily be making money. The second key evidence, is that based on the reviews and my own experience, the tools usually come in a non-descript carboard box, wrapped in the same plastic that Milwaukee uses, with only the instruction booklet and some padding. This is exactly what you would get if you pieced out a bundle, they can't sell it in the red Milwaukee box because it came with two tools in it, but they can include the instructions and they don't even unwrap them from the plastic. Finally, the tools you do NOT see good prices on are ones that are not typically parts of bundles - often times you will see these at prices above MSRP because these tools were purchased at or near full price and the seller needs to make a profit. All that said, it seems pretty stupid for them to just refuse to deal with Amazon. It's a big inconvenience for anyone that doesn't have a local store to buy from, and only increases the chances of people getting burned by counterfeits since there's NO official presence on the platform. But most importantly, Amazon's returns and exchange process is just so much better than any other online retailer. And even if you have a local store that carries the tools, they might not carry everything. For instance I was considering picking up the brushless M12 rotary tool and wanted to see one, by my Home Depot doesn't even have a display unit to look at. As for counterfeits, the batteries are the biggest issue. Cheap batteries won't just underperform, they are hazardous. That being said, I've seen teardowns of genuine M12 batteries and whatever Milwaukee is saying about the tool and battery talking to each other is at best a stretch. There is a temperature sensor, which the tool can read, but there's not really a chip and there is no BMS or anything of the sort. A temperature sensor isn't exactly special, though I don't doubt that knock-offs also cheap out there too. But the truth is, the only thing special about what Milwaukee makes is that we know we're getting ripped off by a company that we can trust, rather than one we can't 😅. Either way you go, you are paying far more for what you get than you should, but at least the OEM packs are very unlikely to burst into flame. Fact is though, if tool brands like Milwaukee wouldn't use their battery platforms to enforce vendor lock-in and actually licensed their designs or adopted intercompatible standards, it wouldn't be hard for third parties to make batteries that are just as good if not better than the OEM ones for a lower cost even. The reason that counterfeits are so dangerous, is that you already have to violate patents and other IP to make knock-off batteries in the first place, meaning anyone that does so is sketchy to start with. At the end of the day, this is a problem that Milwaukee, Dewalt, Makita, and all the other major tool brands have created because they don't have an open ecosystem.

@timtadlock7096 2 ай бұрын
@keiththompson2289 Any authorized Milwaukee distributorship, if you're concerned about the warranty issues. Otherwise, as long as you know it's a genuine Milwaukee item, you can purchase it from any place you prefer. Just be aware that in most cases, after 90 days, it will be up to you to take care of the warranty issues directly from Milwaukee.

I recently used the 6.0 ah x2 and charger starter kit special buy with purchase of tool from home depot. the deal ran out and I purchased the same starter kit from amazon for like 25$ more of the discount deal price 152 from HD compared to 177 from amazon. I bought it from a tool seller that has great reviews but I was still skeptical since it can be a wolf in sheeps clothing still. I highly discouarge from using cheap tools and batteries but no joke comparing the batteries and charger with packinging matieral. I could not fine a key difference they were exactly the same. the only thing I noticed was the charger color maybe looked off but I compared it too the other m18 slow chargers I have from HD and theyre the same! all numbers and performance line up. it started my m18 backpack vacuum whish is what i use since i own a cleaning business. but still im very skeptical about it but so far they lasted just as long as the others and charge at the same pace. i did notice out the gate the charger had a ton of coil whine which has since nearly dissapeared. but its a common flaw with milwaukee. I think I got lucky but ACE and certain authorized tool distros have throwing up some killer deals. this is my 2 cents with a amazon milwaukee tool deal but YMMV. for refernece ive bought a ton of makita off amazon and ebay and havent had a issue with a fake. so thats funny. hopefully you can chime in tim what your thoughts are. I love a good debate.

Good to know. I had slowly come to this same conclusion following Milwaukee reddit over the last year. So from here on I'm going to stick to known channels for the most part. The few drills and batteries I have got from Amazon have been fine as a DIYer though. But better to be safe than sorry.

All true. I bought 2 Milwaukee tools from Amazon, saved a bunch, and they are real and work fine. I am retired and my son uses his Milwaukee tools everyday and so far he has not 1 failed anything. So, no warranty on an Amazon Milwaukee tool is better than full warranty on cheap tools that need it. Harbor Freight is the best warranty as you get a new tool in a matter of minutes.

Update: No mater WHERE you buy genuine Milwaukee tools, they ARE covered by Milwaukee. IF you got it from an "Authorized Sales Center" they go by the sales slip date IF you buy it off Amazon or anywhere ese, they go by the DATE code stamped on the side of the tool. THAT is the ONLY difference.

If you are using the washer to spread the load over the hole the rough edge down is better to keep it from wallowed out the hole, if the bolt is meant to move like a pin you want smooth side down.

Ive never looked into it before but my thoughts always were, depending on project and surface, was corse side towards material as a lock washer type helper, on quality finished surface smooth side to finished side, on moving parts, bearings or wheels, smooth side to moving part. Please discuss further would love to know what others do in practice.
