Oh yes the assessors and case managers at PIP if they know you can Drive or going to university or previously been to university they think you don't need PIP, if you have animals or have children you get declined straight off the bat, one thing i know about is PIP and UC is changing the criteria's and what makes me wonder how they going to change it i don't trust no one of them this government have plans from April not sure how nasty they will be but i don't hold my hopes up people will need to thread very careful soon

I’m in therapy waiting to see a psychiatrist. Mental health illness. Fibromyalgia waiting for a pain clinic. Applied in July for pip didn’t want to but it’s only temporary I said . Gave them doctors address and mental health team . Been awarded it . Waiting for 24 weeks back payment. I don’t plan on staying on it I hope I get better asap . Told the whole truth they got the evidence they needed . So guess I was entitled to have it. On going therapy and on waiting lists

I love the rolling the eyes thing because it's so accurate and so specific and yet so many ppl are like 'wait what???' I roll my eyes like a cartoon character because I thought that's what it meant. If I look up or off to the side or whatever, sure it might not be a sign of deference and respect to whatever you're saying but it's a simple reaction to processing information.

Interrupting: could it be that neurotypical individuals are a little more tuned in to vocal cues indicating you can speak now. This is not done consciously. The voice tends to drop a bit when done. This is difficult for many people typical or not. I think you are wonderful for making these videos.
@DeeannaLouise

@@lauralupinetti9140 thank you, I've always struggled with knowing when it's my turn to speak and have often got told off as a kid for interrupting people when they were "just taking a breath". Anyway, thank you for leaving me a comment, I appreciate it ☺️

I know, that finally having an explanation for why you experience things the way you do is, great, but please don’t say ‚we‘, because every person and every autistic person is unique and your experience can differ from everybody else‘s. Also, don’t call non autistic people ‚neuronormative‘, it sounds condescending, especially as until recently you would have identified as one of them. It is informative enough to share your own experiences and not assume they are universal.
@DeeannaLouise
@DeeannaLouise 2 ай бұрын
Throughout this video I do say "most of us" or "99% of the time we". I am speaking from personal experience and also saying neurotypical and neurodivergent are the actual terms. I'm sorry that this seems to have offended you. I will try to word things better in the future.

Ended up getting recommended this, thought I'd drop by and mention this as someone who's also high functioning and is autistic, I've been having to mask for 22 years and counting (essentially my whole life), because my parents have the boomer mentality of "pick yourself up by the bootstraps", it's even worse with my Dad who uses his experience growing up in the projects in Chicago and growing up poor, I constantly get told how he "made it out fine" and that he "had to work for what he has" and that "I could do it too if I weren't so lazy and manipulative", that manipulative part just causes me to shut down because I absolutely hate it, the amount of stress I've been under because of my parents and being told that my autism is just an "excuse", has pretty much left me extremely stressed and hardly functioning to get through day to day life, and it's even worse when my Mom reads all these books on Autism and applies none of them to her parenting, instead thinking that yelling at me will fix the problem, just another year until I'm out of the house and living with my boyfriend, sorry for the long comment
@DeeannaLouise
@DeeannaLouise 2 ай бұрын
No no, thank you for commenting. I honestly relate to this so much and how you are being parented. I would get shouted at a lot as a kid and it really has affected my mentality and how I view criticism and feedback. Having autism is not an excuse and please don't let people around you make you think that. Autism is something you are born with and can't help. Also you mentioning being called manipulative hits home so badly, I have a diagnosis of BPD (which I believe was incorrectly given to me) and that diagnosis is stigmatized and thought to be manipulative so often it's unbelievable. Stay strong and hang in there, as you've said only one more year until you are living out of your childhood home.

I went through the whole process My initial call was 3hrs Plus follow ups And so much paperwork to provide Ive always struggled with my mental health, and was hoping to get some aid so i can get even a little support, life is barely a life, its just surviving, i hate it but ive come to accept i have higher support needs than average They didn't take it to tribunal initially though, but then nearly a year later i get a letter with a hearing date?..I dunno why its changed Really nervous about it.. On my initial assessment they marked 0 points on basically everything When actually i struggle with most things They ignored everything i said 3hrs going over everything but the amount they took down was half a page.. They also turned some things around on me, said i was able to do 'X' when the point was i can't Regardless, even if we can do some things doesn't mean we can do everything, it doesn't make the struggles non existent :/
@DeeannaLouise
@DeeannaLouise 2 ай бұрын
Yes this is very similar to my experience, I was scored 0 all the way until tribunal when they awarded me pip. The tribunal isn't as bad as I thought, tbh the tribunal was nicer for me then speaking to the pip assessor alone. The judge keeps the peace and makes sure the correct decision is made. It will be a long phone call or however you tribunal is being done but it's fully worth it in my opinion.

Nice video, but i think its to broad. i think making it for ocd or adhd something that all people would like I'm autistic, yet I don't need anything different. I've tried some there nice but I don't think this video is specific enough. :) (earned a like tho)
@DeeannaLouise

Thank you for liking my video, as I mentioned this is part of a series about my autism journey and these are some apps that have helped me but won't help all autistics. I'm glad that you don't need anything different as an autistic to be able to function but some of us do and I was hoping that by sharing this video it would give someone some help via an app. However I do see how it is broad, but I realised while filming that these apps aren't only for autistics but can be for anyone. I hope that explains my reasoning for why the video is packaged how it is.

Maybe I’m in the minority but I had a straight forward PIP experience. I’m bipolar type 1 with psychosis and was awarded enhanced for both on first attempt and same story for those in my support group who also have same conditions including schizophrenia and schizoaffective disorder. I supplied my consultant psychiatrist letters, CPN letters and GP letter etc along with the anti psychotic and mood stabilzers I am on. I was dreading the assessment as so many horror stories out there. Nurse on the call was lovely to me and I then had a mixed episode after it from the worry and ended up in crisis care again then got the text saying I was awarded.

@@northernsegageorge6510 it really depends on many factors, mainly who you get as an assessor and also your evidence provided. I have a different diagnosis to you but I provided all the same or very similar evidence and I had to go to the tribunal.
