Wonderful...but i realise now they are odd lyrics. she trusts him because he has been having sexual fantasies about her?? haha... and she seems to take him to a garbage dump for date. hehe, love it anyway.

Belle qui tiens ma vie Captive dans tes yeux, Qui m'as I'âme ravie D'un souris gracieux, Viens tot me secourir Ou me faudra mourir! Viens tot me secourir Ou me faudra mourir! Mieux vaudrait mourir! Tant aimer et souffrir Oh! Mieux vaudrait mourir!

This song does remind me of The Statue of Liberty, because the statue is not standing still -- it's walking forward into the dark and is officially named Liberty Enlightening the World. It is a woman wearing a stola, a crown and sandals, trampling a broken chain, and with a torch in her raised right hand and a tabula ansata, or tablet with the date of the Declaration of Independence JULY IV MDCCLXXVI (1776) simple.wikipedia.org/wiki/Statue_of_Liberty

I still love Melanie Safka. She catched my attention when i was a teenager..Not only because off her songs, in particular, Beautiful People, but she was authentic. Not a tipical hippie, but she was Melanie. I love this song by Kansas, but when melanie sings it, it's haunts me.

Her voice is an amazing combination of vulnerability and strength. Also, that one note she adds near the end of each line, the F instead of D, Kansas' Steve Walsh sings "and the moment's gone" as E D D E E, where Melanie sings it E D F E E. It elevates the song to another level, just that one change.
