As the former president of the RIT Model Railroad Club during the 2023-2024 academic year, it makes me so happy to see people like you enjoying our show! The 2023 show was a hard one for us to put on. We hit road blocks at almost every turn, but the support you and other visitors give us makes every sleepless night calling vendors and emailing the school while studying for exams totally worth it. We can't thank you enough for your support and hope to see you next year! Also, regarding the layout, there's a whole story about us having to remove about a third of it. But that means you'll get to see a lot of work be done on a new layout in the coming years.

Man you're building an awesome collection. I've seen photos online of them loading the fire engines in these cars. I may have mentioned before, my great-grandfather Robert Thompson Fudge worked for American LaFrance for many years in Elmira NY. He died in 1931. I believe he had a part in the invention of the quick-connect hose couplings. I'm gonna love to see this on your dream layout. Thanks for sharing!
@MyLifesTracks26 күн бұрын
@@MyFingerLakesRailwayLayout That is so cool you have relative that worked for American LeFrance. As a kid I loved seeing the Horseheads fire trucks and I believe they were all American LaFrance. I wonder if you ever came across this when you lived in NY. There was a blue truck that was made by the VFW (I think) but guys from American LaFrance may have helped build it? It looked like a steam locomotive. It was always in parades in Horseheads in the 70’s. I came across it about 20 years ago in Elmira at a place that sold small farm tractors. That place is now gone and I have no idea where it went. I hope it’s still around. I love that thing as a kid.

I have a brass caboose that got for $30 from a friend of mine. I got a 11 car brass Pennsylvania railroad passenger cars set from an Antique shop for hundred dollars! I usually don’t even look that close at brass stuff at train shows due to cost. When I was little and went to train shops I always thought who would want a gold color train?
