I just got another special boxcar that I’ve been wanting since I was 12! I’ll make a video of that soon.

Yes the X30 did in fact make it into Penn Central. It was numbered 185000, and a photo of it exists "whitelined" on the dead line in PC green, after it got retired. Unfortunately I don't know what the car's assigned service was.

Man you're building an awesome collection. I've seen photos online of them loading the fire engines in these cars. I may have mentioned before, my great-grandfather Robert Thompson Fudge worked for American LaFrance for many years in Elmira NY. He died in 1931. I believe he had a part in the invention of the quick-connect hose couplings. I'm gonna love to see this on your dream layout. Thanks for sharing!

@@MyFingerLakesRailwayLayout That is so cool you have relative that worked for American LeFrance. As a kid I loved seeing the Horseheads fire trucks and I believe they were all American LaFrance. I wonder if you ever came across this when you lived in NY. There was a blue truck that was made by the VFW (I think) but guys from American LaFrance may have helped build it? It looked like a steam locomotive. It was always in parades in Horseheads in the 70’s. I came across it about 20 years ago in Elmira at a place that sold small farm tractors. That place is now gone and I have no idea where it went. I hope it’s still around. I love that thing as a kid.

@@MyLifesTracks I have no memory of that blue truck steam loco, I wish I did.I wonder if the Chemung County historical society might be able to help?

That's a cool freight car. I had no idea it existed or it's unique use. Glad for you got it.

I love unique rail cars or one offs. I would love to get an Ingalls S-4 locomotive in HO. Only 1 existed in real life and you can only get it in brass in HO.

@@MyLifesTracks Had to look that locomotive up too. Never heard of it either. I like the weird odd ball railroad stuff too. The weirder the better. Ingalls S-4 fits that ,lol. Thanks Fren for sharing /enlightenment of said odd stuff.

Wow thats a beauty. Pretty cool story too. Did the PC version go to Elmera as well?
@MyLifesTracks
@MyLifesTracks 3 ай бұрын
I’m not sure if the PC went to Elmira. I remember seeing black locomotives that had PC on them as a kid. The Elmira plant closed in 1985, so I would say there was a good chance the PC paint scheme came to Elmira.

Brass... Pardon me, but do you have any Grey Poupon😅jk Super nice Mark👍🚂🇨🇦🇺🇲🙋
@MyLifesTracks
@MyLifesTracks 3 ай бұрын
That’s right, I keep Grey Poupon in my Kia!😄 Most of my brass pieces I got cheap. The two brass, non-running, steam locomotives I have cost $5 apiece from a shop that was closing. I have a brass caboose that got for $30 from a friend of mine. I got a 11 car brass Pennsylvania railroad passenger cars set from an Antique shop for hundred dollars! I usually don’t even look that close at brass stuff at train shows due to cost. When I was little and went to train shops I always thought who would want a gold color train? Athearn blue box is more realistic!🤣
