Through out the entire show, everytime it was absolutely oppertune, Michael would dish out some perfectly crucial wisdom. Even though he's often portrayed as an ignorant buffoon, this is just for comedic effect because it's a comedy tv show. If I had a boss that taught the lessons he teaches in this show, he would be the best boss anyone could ever ask for.

People accept this advice because it’s television. But real life is different. I am in the same situation as Jim. I have strong feelings for a coworker who has a boyfriend, lives with her boyfriend, and has a child with that boyfriend. We are friends and she is nice and friendly to me. In real life, I must respect the fact that she is in a relationship. It’s not easy because she complains about her boyfriend from time to time. But that is normal; all couples go through stuff. I am trying to find a way to stop having feelings for her. Sometimes I wish I’d have never met her. Life sucks sometimes. The advice I received so far was to just be her coworker. The other advice is to not find distractions, but to work on a goal or goals that will put me in a better position in life. For example, I will improve my eating habits. I will eat wholesome foods and I will squeeze in exercise. This will help me lose weight, increase my energy, and hopefully be more confident. The other goal is to make a change in my career. I am looking into getting certification so that I can get another job. This will help in my career prospects and give me more confidence during tough times. I was told that that is the way to deal with unrequited love and heartbreak. The other part is actually letting yourself feel the grief. It’s sound counter intuitive but allow yourself to feel it. Accept it and don’t reject the pain. This way your mind and body will find ways to actually reduce the pain. After you go through this whole, you may feel thankful because you came out stronger on the other side. Even though this situation was tough and painful, depending on how you confront it, it can work onto your advantage. Then you will realize that it’s not the end of the world and there are plenty of fish out there that you can have a meaningful relationship with. By staying fixated and fantasizing about someone who is already taken you are actually rejecting reality and real potential relationships. I hope this message can help someone and I hope it helps me.

5 years I’ve been in love with the same girl since the moment I laid eyes on her. Years later I still can’t shake her. We tried dating a few years back and it just didn’t work out but I still can’t shake it man. I still find myself dreaming about her.. we text all the time I just don’t think it’ll ever have right timing… idk.

@@phillyfansufferer Jim was a great salesman, even Michael said that he brings in lots of money when Dwight wanted to lay him off. He slacked off because he got done with his work pretty quickly. Roy, was pretty selfish and it was pretty clear to everyone in the office that there was little romance. Almost everyone already assumed that Pam and Jim were having a relationship well before Jim made his move.

If you re-watch the scene where Michael proposes to Holly, you see Jim looks over at Pam and smiles. My theory is that when Michael was upset about Holly possibly getting engaged to someone else, Jim told Pam about this speech Michael gave him. And probably said something like, "Sheesh, I wish Michael would just take his own advice." And he did. 🥲

I feel this gave Jim the confidence to confess to Pam at casino night. He had to take his shot before it was too late and right here he felt it was better to give up but Michael reminded him to keep fighting. And it paid off!
