KZbin just started putting Ads on this video, Yesterday 10-16-2024 it only had 100 views and no Ads, today 10-17-2024 it has 101 views and the are putting ads in and this channel is NOT MONETIZED. This proves that after a video hits 100 views KZbin sells ads and the content creator does not get paid any part of the revenue from the ads.

Enjoyed and reminisced to my time at AKN 1972/1974. I manned the White Alice troposcatter site... maintained North State Telcom and started/ran Aero-Marine Electronics which was located at Peninsula Airways. I lived in the BOQ.... my room was first one outside of the O-Club. Thus was good and bad. Again thanks for the professional video and stiring memories. Regards Gene/K7QHO

Gene, Thanks for the comment I am Dave N1UAV, while I am not real active in ham radio I do a lot of what I think are interesting projects. I have built a ground station to receive images from GOES 16,18 and 19 weather satellites. I am working on improving my feed horn and just about have peeked for it's performance. I have a video that shows how I did it. Thank again Dave N1UAV.

Dillingham was only 70 miles from King Salmon as the crow fly's and WYNO's transmitting antenna was 120 ft above ground level so with the right weather conditions the signal could make it to Dillingham.

He forgot to mention the Cox TeeDee .010 engine. You want Tiny, It was.
@onmyworkbench7000
@onmyworkbench7000 6 ай бұрын
I intentionally left out the the TeeDee series of Cox engines because they use a venturi with crankshaft port timing for their fuel air induction system. In the video I was talking about the reed valve engines, as I stated in the video engines that use a venturi and crankshaft port timing will not run CW. It is my understanding that Cox tried to make a reed valve .010 but it would not run very well so they went with the venturi and crankshaft port timing. *_NOTE: The follow is from Wikipedia. To find it Google Cox model engine._* "In 1960 Cox hired an engineer named Bill Atwood (who had already built his own line of engines), to develop a new .010 cubic inch engine. Atwood was also responsible for the Tee Dee and Medallion line of engines. These engines put Cox on the map as a leading engine in the world for many years to come.[10] One of the things Cox wanted Atwood to do was make him a .010 engine. Cox had already tried to halve the size of the Pee Wee .020 but couldn't get it to run for some reason. The suspicion surrounded a problem with the tiny reed valve. Atwood found that the front rotary valve worked well on the .010 size hence the .010 was born.[20]"

Cool stuff. Your dad sounds like my dad. My dad also built many 5 and 7 cylinder radials using cox engines. He met Larry Renger from cox, hoping to have them manufacture his design. Turns out my dad needed to get more RPM's from his engines to make it more marketable. Two stroke radials are a whole lot harder to get to run with a shared crank

That was way cool! I'm 77 yrs.old and did a bit of modeling when I was a kid. Always U-control. I never saw a twin cylinder engine like the one you show. It is really neat. Your dad must have been a very skilled and creative guy. I think that what he did was very impressive. I now have a collection of antique flywheel engines and belong to a club of guys like myself who enjoy tinkering with them. I built an engine from an old air compressor and it runs quite well. Hit and miss. But it cant fly!! There is a definite magic to that!

@0:40 was that a 4 cylinder radial arrangement with a similar planetary crankshaft hack?
@onmyworkbench7000
@onmyworkbench7000 7 ай бұрын
I looked at the scanned photo and it looks to me as if it is a geared motor like the one built from the .049's. What leads me to believe that it that radial engines all have to have an odd number of cylinders. such as 3,5,7or 9 cylinders. I suspect that you are on the right track that it has a main gear that's attached to the crankshaft and the smaller gears are on the motors 90 degrees apart from one another.
@Iowa599
@Iowa599 7 ай бұрын
@@onmyworkbench7000 the odd number has something to do with balance, I think, & the .049 is light enough "balance" isn't a big concern.
@onmyworkbench7000
@onmyworkbench7000 7 ай бұрын
@@Iowa599 Below is from Wikipedia. Four-stroke radials have an odd number of cylinders per row, so that a consistent every-other-piston firing order can be maintained, providing smooth operation. For example, on a five-cylinder engine the firing order is 1, 3, 5, 2, 4, and back to cylinder 1. Moreover, this always leaves a one-piston gap between the piston on its combustion stroke and the piston on compression. The active stroke directly helps compress the next cylinder to fire, making the motion more uniform. If an even number of cylinders were used, an equally timed firing cycle would not be feasible.
@Iowa599
@Iowa599 7 ай бұрын
@@onmyworkbench7000 yeah, basically balance. If one will run with 2, it will run with 3, or 4, cylinders. Maybe not smoothly, but your grandma won't be riding in it. makes me think, the piston isn't moving the fastest at 90° crank rotation, half-way up the bore. It is at 72.5° rotation, just over halfway up the bore (when going up or down.) edit: assuming the bore is centered over the crank, but that's not always the case

This was a manufacturing defect. It happens much more on a Television panel and other anomalies. They also say, store the projector properly, use it in the proper temperatures and don't leave it on a stagnant image. Owning it that long in a woods cabin and only having 222 hrs on it at the time is telling. Even if it was LGs manufacturing fault, it had a warranty. "I was hoping that it would be my main TV for 20 years.". Then goes on to barely use it. I guess we have never heard the LG OLEDs here? The inventors of OLED technology and the best selling OLEDs of all time. LG msde crap stuff at the time of this projector. Their refrigerators were awful. Now, they are the best. It depends on product, technology, division and when it was manufactured. I still wont buy an LG refrigerator but, I'd buy the hell out of their OLED TVs. (LCDs are garbage now.). Samsung screwed over people for 10 plus years in TVs and I own their refrigerators and Washer/dryers.

@onmyworkbench7000 I wouldn't buy a projector from them, although my HF65LA is still going strong. (That LG Smart TV on it is dumb as Sh**.) I have a Fire TV stick in eben my 25K projector, on down to my "Amazing" Brookstone Bigshot. It's discontinued and 720P but, it upscales higher, has 20W JBL speakers and had a better internal App center. (The remote is trash and the app store is done for years.) The image is about the same, maybe a slight screen door, if you are a foot away. It has about 3,000 hours on it and is a rock. I've taken it for superbowl parties and roughed it up a bit. Back then, it had Bluetooth, sound out with subwoofer and 3 HDMI ports. It looks 100 times better than the LG as well. Maybe 2 inches more of short throw. (I've used both at about 90 inches for years.) It was 299 dollars originally on sale from 699 retail. Nothing beats the LG Maguc Remote. That thing does everything/universal for things that came out way after. I still don't know why LG couldn't update this to say a modern or older LG base Skart TV. I can buy a 2017 LG smart TV for 50 dollars that has a modern smart TV. The mirror is the weak part. I have a LG cover for the projector. It's tough to find. It's a plastic Z pretty much and necessary. The mirror should be adjusted properly, cleaned and not warped. They knew that UST tech is done. I can buy an KG 120hz 86" TV for 996 dollars. It puts any UST to shame. Nobody ever talks about the absolutely necessary gain screen at a minimum of 300 dollars to 5000K for a screen. Portable? Projected on a regular paint white wall. Amateur hour. You had to treat these UST projectors with level 7 air handlers and surgical gloves. Not in the kids room and used never or constantly. An UST only makes sense when it's half or less the price of a decent TV. Or8ginakky 1299.99 or PF1000II at 1399.99 = NO!
