Somewhere around 1998/99 I looked at these on the show room floor in Mexico City, if I remember correctly they were 5,5,00 us then new. They are super sweet

Yes they were they will just about last forever if they are treated right. Change the Oil every 2000 miles, adjust the valves every 2000 miles, check the cylinder heads nuts to make sure that are not loose, make sure the generator/fan belt is in good shape and make sure the cooling fan is not blocked, and always let the engine warm-up before driving, this is due to the cast-iron cylinders, the aluminum cylinder heads and aluminum alloy engine case all having different expansion ratios that if the engine is not warm-up before driving can cause the long studs/ bolts that hold cylinders and cylinder heads in place to pull out of the engine case and that is very bad for the engine. Been there done that.
