I cut the middle hook off and connect a treble hook with only two hook points exposed on the head of the bait with a crimp wire attached to the eye mount on the top of the head. Very clean and minimal. Hook up rate went to 95 percent. The big bass I’m after typically eat a bait that size head first. Never had a short strike problem Watch wired to fish ft. Bunch brown he uses it the same way and also makes modifications to the fins and gills to make it super realistic.

I fished in a kayak during that Saturday tournament. Tons of boats moving south. Bite was tough but ended up landing 2 of the 3 big fish I hooked. 5.5lb & 7.25lb. Turned out to be a good day. The shallow bite was on 🔥 but it's about timing.
@ericsmith33173 ай бұрын
Hook sets are not free... U swing on a false bite and especially a missed bite you blow the hole spot , u think u get bit just keep reeling til u feel the rod load then swing My biggest came in 13° weather off the SLIGHTEST "tik" ! Literally all i felt was its mouth close on my leader if i woulda hit it right then would i have caught it? Yes probably but not every fish that eats a hud is 13.7lb some have to arrange it in their mouth But after the "tik" it took maybe 1 handle turn to KNOW it was ate , i always hesitate with big baits . Do i catch every fish? No.. but the ones i do miss are not the ones im fishing for anyway.. i mean.. lets be realistic here, we dont throw a 8" hud all day for days for the workout we do it for the biggest fish in that particular body of water so if i dont swing on a territorial bump from a 3lbr no big loss but if i do miss or not and blow out the 10lbr 3' away then thats a loss.. a big loss

The only similarities between the Nessie and the Flag is the outline! That’s it! Nessie has plastic keels, Flag doesn’t, Nessie has a brush tail, Flag doesn’t, Nessie has a hook clip, Flag doesn’t, Nessie has bigger eyes, Nessie has different ( harder ) rubber, Nessie comes in 3 sizes, Flag doesn’t, and, most importantly, lure companies have been taking bits and pieces from their competitors lures since lure production began decades ago! I see absolutely no harm nor foul. Good on Ike to recognize a great lure when he sees one and good on Berkley for making an affordable glide bait that works fantastic!
