In the Marines we were taught to stay on our feet, because there are many times, more than one attacker. You should teach fight stoppers, and how to prevent a take down. You can roll with a man, because He never hit you. In todays world someone needs non martial art moves that defeats all arts.

I don't agree with jiujitsu being taught to everyone. Nowadays people need to be vetted and interviewed. You can't just teach this stuff to anyone and expect them to use it for good. That's irresponsible, especially in this day and age.

Like that would work on a 220LB 6’3 man. 😂

For those not in the know, the Gracie Combat System has been teaching people to defend themselves in real-world situations for decades. The Gracie family is truly the first family of Brazilian jiu-jitsu (especially in the United states) and their methods have been proven effective from the streets, to championship-level prize fighting. At this point there is no debate, it is a prove, effective system. It's a great tool for anyone to use, and from what I see, Forged Fitness is a great place to get your rolls in!

After my second BJJ competition, not training for competition but love it, my confidence was at an all time high. Seeing that I was not fearing any of my opponent and finished being the only one who hasn’t been submitted that day in my weight class, I was so proud in my ability to defend myself and put other people in very bad positions. I am 6’2 225lbs and 22yo I’ve been training for 3 months now and hope to do it till I’m 100yo+.

Coming here has made me more humble. I’ve been here for about 3 months, I get beat but it’s ok, it’s part of the process. My goal is to be in law enforcement someday, and I am more than happy to be learning BJJ here. I will keep going and see where it takes me.

I did bjj for awhile, I was 28, fit, training for a boxing match, rolled with a blind man 👨🦯 totally blind. He judo tossed me and I couldn’t get him off! 🤣 He was like a super hero. I’m looking to get back into it definitely. Mostly for confidence.

Same as many, many other martial arts. Now if you're looking to be a complete fighter (or just martial artist), sure, you need to be able to roll as well. O-ver-ra-ted.

I have had a broken neck, and 2 back surgeries, leg, foot, ankle and knee surgery. I am almost 50 years old, and not flexible at all. I want to start Jiu Jitsu so bad, but I am afraid I will really hurt myself.

The things they said in this video seem pretty universal to martial arts in general. You just have to find the right dojo/gym.
