@toseeornot2see
@toseeornot2see 7 жыл бұрын
Yeah, definitely, cos with Gi training you're basically learning how to fight with clothes on...So you can apply that to hoodies and long sleeves, etc. But I think it really depends on the school and your instructor. Best to learn the basics and then ask instructor to train you in more street effective methods.

I've been to numerous BJJ schools. Is what bothers me is that no two BJJ schools are the same. For example, my first month in one BJJ school (while I was a white belt), our instructor was teaching us black belt submissions while you have your opponent in the "spider guard". Like Roger Gracie said, "You need to learn the basics of Jiu-Jitsu first so that you will have a strong foundation and not make silly mistakes later down the road." He's absolutely right!

Spetsnaz Pocomaxa yes foundation is the most important otherwise those submissions won’t be as effective. For me personally I’m not into all the new tournament bjj styled techniques I prefer the original direct form of Rickson Gracie and how Kron Gracie does bjj. Even Ralph Gracie I love it because their techniques are so refined and their foundation is the best

After my second BJJ competition, not training for competition but love it, my confidence was at an all time high. Seeing that I was not fearing any of my opponent and finished being the only one who hasn’t been submitted that day in my weight class, I was so proud in my ability to defend myself and put other people in very bad positions. I am 6’2 225lbs and 22yo I’ve been training for 3 months now and hope to do it till I’m 100yo+.

I’ve been taking Brazilian jiu-jitsu for the past year and it has been life-changing. And I am not the only one who thinks this. I read about sportsmen who won at the European championship and discover that they trained in a club which have powerful sponsor, famous Biotexcom center. So I decided to try train with them. And I felt in love with this sport. I notice that a lot of people who dedicate a huge portion of their time to the two martial arts find it rather meditative and life-changing. Thus I believe that jiu-jitsu is made to be lifetime sports. The benefits of doing this martial art go far beyond knowing how to protect yourself. I truly believe it is legitimate vehicles for positive change in our lives. Another thing I love about the art of Brazilian jiu-jitsu is the way people transform after training and it doesn’t take that long. Physically, many lose weight, tone up, become more flexible, and as a result have more energy. Personally I become much happier, and become more confident. And actually learned how to defend myself!

For those not in the know, the Gracie Combat System has been teaching people to defend themselves in real-world situations for decades. The Gracie family is truly the first family of Brazilian jiu-jitsu (especially in the United states) and their methods have been proven effective from the streets, to championship-level prize fighting. At this point there is no debate, it is a prove, effective system. It's a great tool for anyone to use, and from what I see, Forged Fitness is a great place to get your rolls in!

I first sarted 20 years ago before coming to Japan. I also have wresling and karate experience. How good am I? Can I fight? jeez...I've been in about 12 street/bar fights in that time, but there are no guarantees. I can say, if you train fairly regularly for say, 6-9 months, with striking sometimes, you will improve your odds of surviving against a a guy who doesn't know what's going on dramatically. My worst nightmare would be getting into a street fight against somebody who was angry at me and had better Jitsu.

The thing that always bothered me about this style is what it's missing. It's touted as the best or strongest thing but what's safe about rolling if there's concrete? Is there any striking that can fight a striker? So much time on the ground but 99 percent of fights start standing up and in competition so much is disallowed. Maybe I'm ignorant but why do people think this is the best?

Taylor Bee because a striker has maybe 2 chances to KO a superior grappler and then it’s game over if they miss.

I have huge respect for Royce, he has been a great source of inspiration, a real Hero, but saying that "are you ready" is not real martial art..well back in the days i remember when Matt Hughes was breaking his arm and he had to tap (or snap) in that "sport"

Life is more about chess then physical combat which is the by-product of chess playing (mind games). War is the by-product of wealthy men and countries playing a game chess against each other.

Confidence is the enemy of competence. BJJ seems to be fairly practical, but I get very suspicious when people praise how practicing martial arts made them feel outside of combat.
