I cannot speak for anyone's experiences but my own. My dad had an 09 6.4 and the truck was an absolute hammer. He sold it around 175-180k in miles. CCLB truck standard work done at 130xxxish miles. It ran so strong and not a single time let us down. This truck was our road trip bus, we went everywhere in this thing during the time we had it. It was also the first truck I got to drive on the road. The reason it got sold was due to some leaks it developed particularly in the front cover area if im not mistaken. It was still completely operable but dad decided to part ways with it. I miss that truck so much, and more importantly the memories that went along with it. It sounded amazing and drove amazing. like stated in your videos and the comments, find one with decent miles, do what needs to be done, and don't second guess it.

Most people also don't realize is that the 6.0l and 6.4l are 4 bolt main motors. The 7.3l was 6 bolt main. The 6.7l also has 6 bolt main. My 2011 6.7l is at 280k and running like a champ. Deleted tuned and a couple bolt ons. Oil coolers are easier to change. Ford factory Fuel pump is bullet proof. Dual coolant system. Biggest issue is cp4 failure to worry about but there is a better fix for that too. Plus its WAY quieter than the last two diesels ford put out.
@J_Beazy223Ай бұрын
Its not the 6.4l is a poorly made engine. Its more the components that accompany the engine which are more likely to fail and create other issues from those that lead to taking out the engine. Hot tunes don't help an already inferior component.

The best way to mitigate the blowby on the 6.4 is to replace the factory piston rings with a aftermarket piston ring that has a gap less 2nd ring. The truck will never know the 2nd gap less ring is in and it will greatly reduce the blowby. From the factory the rings don't seal and have a larger Gap then they really should. It's recommended to also swap the pistons out for a aftermarket. The product rn being recommended to pre-order/purchase is the speed of air ceramic pistons.. they have a good collab with Dave's Auto Center and Speed Lake Jr.

I run the MinMax but she is running a low tune and stays on stock I have used the tow setting a few times pulling a trailer through the Canadian Rockies and a couple of times with a heavy load. But she has never been raced. That would be death to these engines want to race to build a race engine. I love it. I let the coolant go low with a leek in the rad that caused a blown front plate but she runs fine. Has 136 K miles and proper servicings

Thank you for your astute observations and comments. When considering a 2008 F-350 dually with 53K miles in February 2021, my first thought was that this could be a ticking timebomb--BUT it was the least expensive option ($23k during COVID) to replace the capability of my rusted out 1998 1/2 Dodge, 5 speed manual, 24v Cummins dually. All the fluids were changed, HD radiator hoses installed, and it came alive after following the "usual and customary" recommendations on the forums. One Up Offroad traction bars were required to tame the newly induced wheel hop. Oil and filter changes performed every 5K miles since. Last month, at 71K miles, it likewise threw the anticipated PO192 fuel rail pressure sensor code. Not an inexpensive fix, but that has been the only issue in three years. I'll take it.
@PowerStroke1Ай бұрын
An update at 72K miles: after 16 years, it was time to replace the transmission pan and lower oil pan gasket. The body mounts were due for replacement also. Since there was some seeping detected from the tubing from the low pressure turbo to the horseshoe connection, the cab was pulled to facilitate turbo removal and it would also make the body mount replacement with S & B silicone units easier. The oil cooler was replaced with a Ford OEM and new PPE up pipes installed since "we were there." There was no indication of head gasket issues, so we stopped there. Hopefully, the new body mounts will reduce stresses on the radiator for a few more years. Also replaced was the front hub vacuum pump and switch, restoring control of the 4WD system from the cab. A new brake pressure switch fixed cruise control inconsistency. These issues were easily and relatively inexpensively repaired. An Edge Insight CTS3 monitor was installed to keep a closer eye on things.

Do it quick, it'll break stock. Go and delete the EGR and DPF, put a cold air intake on it with a H&s tune. And make sure to only put Lucas racing oil in it, as well as Lucas oil stabilizer every 5000 miles. The synthetic stuff is junk and will make your engine overheat and destroy itself.

is the m sport package an aftermarket thing to install? and if so does it work on the diesel models?
@samsnow139 ай бұрын
It’s a factory installed option package from BMW. My current 335 has it and there’s a few drastic differences and some other small ones. The largest is the “body kit” they add to the car to make it more angular with larger cooling vents and more aggressive bumpers and side skirts. There’s a braking upgrade that’s included (larger discs and calipers) and some suspension tuning as well (I believe it sits a few cm lower than non m sport cars). You also get access to sport + in your driving mode which allows for actual launch control and full DSC disabling. There other things as well like an auxiliary oil cooler and a different more thick steering wheel with paddles. In short, I do not believe you could do it for the price the kit costs from the factory. You could theoretically do all of it yourself but the costs and labor to do it would far outweigh the pros of the package. I would just go aftermarket and do what you think is important/cool to you and your car.

@@JacobVolzkr oh congrats man I really want to get into one of those eventually. They’re actually pretty desirable where I live because the emissions can be deleted and they can be tuned to make big torque numbers as well as good horsepower. I have had my 6.4 since 2008. It’s got 193,000 tuned with a spartan running the 275 tune. It’s been fully deleted, head studded, misimoto radiator, cold air intake, and a lift pump. Other than that I think everything is stock unless I am forgetting something. The biggest problem I have found with these trucks is the damn radiator. I have put 4 or 5 of them in. Yea I have a lifetime warranty with the mishimoto but it gets annoying. Other than that I have loved my 6.4 and don’t plan on getting rid of it. I think it honestly depends on how you treat it and if and when you do the full delete. Truck was a completely different truck after I deleted it and the only reason I waited till 100,000 was my warranty.

I agree with mostly what you have said. I have the Minny Max and mine is tuned on mild and is set at stock or tow witch is 40 and 60 extra HP with the delete I got 1/3 better MPG as well there is a HP gain there the stock cold air intake had to be changed it just cheoked the engine it would through the chang air filter warning every time I pulled out to pass. So it's got the S&B kit in it. But according to Bill at Bullit Proof theses engines are all ready advanced tuned so this Minne Max just adds to that and that is where the trouble lies. So keep the tune down like set at mild and running on stock or tow. Should produce more than enough to get in trouble. The low boost fuel was set at 3 out of a possible 5 that gave me what I thought was to much black smoke in stop and go trafic. So I tuned it down to 2 if there is any black smoke in stop and go trafic I don't see it. So sharing the road I feel fine. I mean after the embartasment of regen whose going to complain. I mean really. Keep your intake filter clean. Keep your oil change to 5000 or less use Motor Craft filters open the fuel water separator even in between serveses put good diesel coolent in the rad I use Motor master with the additive. I have had to replace the front plate once its not fun. I love ❤ my 08 6.4 F350 if you can get a set of after market valve covers with the extra oil sprayers in them. I'm looking for a set.
