Also, I'd advise probably going through the suspension all throughout if you can and just keep it NA for the timebeing and get it on a standalone ECU for some power gains, reliability, and keeping that engine alive with modern goodies.

@@thepcmrtim That's the plan for now. I definitely want to get new coilovers sooner than later as the ones I'm on now are pretty bad (but they were free lol). I've definitely thought about getting the car running on an aftermarket ECU first and then switching to turbo later, but it'll also need a rebuild so the time and resources will need to be set aside for that as well.

@@ryanmills7986 Yeah the lowest trim of the F31 in Japan could be had with a manual. People have used Z31 transmissions with success so yes, please post all the components you use for sure. This is true so I appreciate the support! Yeah unfortunately the regulator I was using was pretty garbage and I found myself constantly adjusting it. I didn't get much footage of me panting but watching all of it back afterwards I seemed to have a different spray pattern every time as I couldn't get it to stay consistent. Since the pressure was so high from the regular too I think that's why I backed off but it wasn't until afterwards that I realized how far away I was holding the gun from the substrate lol I'd definitely have a much better result with the hindsight I have now but I'll just make it up with a whole lot of wet sanding lol

Sponge pad on a DA, then 1500-3500 wetsand at the minimum before a buff would transform it. Assuming you laid down a hefty amount of clear. If it’s single stage. Then just stay away from the edges of the panels when wet sanding and keep an eye on burning through the base coat.

@user-wk6yp3vv9n If you can get coilovers for an R31 Skyline then they are plug and play in the rear and you can keep everything else stock besides modifying the front knuckle from what I know (I have no experience with this). If you want to go the S13 route (which is what's on my car) then you'll need to swap to an S13 knuckle, ball joint, and tie rods up front. In the rear you just need to drill an additional hole in the strut tower to take the S13's 2 stud style coilover as opposed to the F31's 3. Coilovers are pretty much "get what you pay for". Personally I have ISR coilovers on my car and I was happy with them even when I was daily driving it. They have adjustable dampening and I was running them at full soft back then.

To add to your swap material; i bolted my z31 clutch pedal box to the wiper cowl with some 6mm x 1.0 bolts with big captive washers and the nuts that used to hold on the transmission control unit (thats ziptied out of the way for now) . Time will tell if the cowl is strong enough, but it seems pretty substantial and its tied to the firewall, it also mounts right by where its bent (so its super strong) I mean the entire car unibody is basixally made of layers of sheetmetal so i think it will be fine as long as i dont put jn a stage 5 million clutch. For the brake pedal, i cut the bottom of the auto pedal off at its midpoint and welded the z31 bottom on to provide the kick over around the steering column. Its still a bit far from the gas pedal, i may redo it with a d22 brake pedal (they kick to the right big time) i know its usually not recommended to cut and weld on a brake pedal arm but short of bending a custom arm i didnt see any other way. I pinned it with bolts through both pieces and welded them in though...brakes are pretty important 😂
@Midnight_Oil_MFG.
@Midnight_Oil_MFG. 5 ай бұрын
Huh, that's a solid idea, and as long as it's ridged then I'd say it's good. You could always make a metal plate with the same bolt pattern out to do the same job as the washers if it needs a little bit of extra rigidity. It sounds like you followed a very similar path with your pedals as I did though I felt my spacing was good. I just overlapped the lower parts of both arms on whichever side of the upper part that spaced it the best. It was pretty close to the spacing in my RX-7 if I remember correctly. Also welded the pedal is totally fine as long as they're adequate haha but it's better to be safe than sorry for sure.
