I just got my rattler. With my typical scope I was easily ringing steel at 500 yards, and with the thermal I am missing 50 yard shots. It feels like my crosshairs in the scope has to be way off to the left. Am I just failing to zero correctly?

How does this compare to AGM Varmint TS50-640?

So Cabela's has the "Wraith HD 4K MAX" on Black Friday sale for $399 next week. Virginia DWR does not seem to ban nightvision per se, but there are official shooting hours, of course. So I'm interested in getting this instead of a typical optical scope for my bolt-action deer rifle, if it will help my aging eyes detect deer and discern if a deer has antlers in the waning minutes of shooting light (e.g. 28 minutes after official dusk). I would think so. However, wouldn't the IR illumination for the nightvision component spook the deer if it kicks in at dusk? Also, would it drain the battery just to have it on to function as a standard scope in broad daylight during an all-day sit, like during the rut? Do people who hunt with this all day just fire it up if they see a deer, to save battery life?
