There is without question as much nonsense as there is useful information. Just gotta watch a bunch and make our own decisions. Did you see the story about how Payless shoes created a high end store front called PALLISI or something like that and marked all their shoes up like 2000% and invited a bunch of fashion influencer to their grand opening and they were all raving about the quality and how they were worth every penny hahaha. It’s pretty funny

I had them out doing PPF on the hood and they are pretty pathetic heat extractors. They have the tiniest holes for air to come out. So yes they have an air path, it is almost impossible to see them when you stare at them from the back side. I swore they were fake as well even though they were listed as heat extractors.
@flaberdoopin2 сағат бұрын
Interesting. I haven’t seen the back sides but I have seen water flow down thru them when washing my truck so I knew they weren’t sealed
@curtl16946 сағат бұрын
Sometimes when it’s cold outside, I can hear my raptor make a whoosh noise. It definitely sounds like the heat extractors.

I don’t know that they would make any noises like that as there is nothing forcing the air thru but who knows, maybe it is

Is one box of each sound deadening material enough for all 4 doors? Thanks! P.S. Love the videos!
@flaberdoopin8 сағат бұрын
I did this a while ago and if I remember correctly each of the back doors used 2 sheets of each to cover and the fronts used 2.5-3 sheets. I would just get a box of each and do the front doors fully first and split what is left on the backs. If you plan to do the roof or back wall as well you can always add more to the rears with that leftover but I am pretty sure a box of each will be plenty for just the doors
@KeithSchwerin22 сағат бұрын
I feel like I consistently see people with the tune doing a high 5.0X to a high 5.2X. I feel like the tires will matter more after that. I wouldn't be amazed if you put on a more street focused tire a consistent 4.5-4.8 would be possible while also managing a low 20MPG average. Really impressive for its weight. That means the 3.0 with a tune is about the same as a 5.0 in power.
@flaberdoopin8 сағат бұрын
I agree that tires make a huge difference and I think high 4s are possible for sure with a good start. Tires make a huge difference and if they made a Shelby Ranger with this motor and a sick all wheel drive system from the Explorer ST lowered a bit with it independent suspension in the back and some sway bars it would be insane. I love this truck for off-roading but I grew up in California in the 80s and 90s so I will forever love street trucks.

Thank you for this! This is a perfect short, sweet and to the point video for us to share to all the fake vent haters out there! Also, your Raptor looks awesome covered in snow! It's a sight we don't get to see down here in Aus land! How does she handle on the icy roads?

It does well in a bit of snow and ice but I still avoid driving in those conditions when I can because of all the OTHER people out there that have no clue what they are doing. In the owners manual / PDF on the ranger raptor forums it says they are functional from ford. I absolutely love my truck, 0 buyers remorse, but I am already needing a warranty claim for a CV boot tear. Unfortunately that part is on national back order 🫠 but at least its covered under warranty

@MrEDizzle70Күн бұрын
Probably because all the other midsize trucks in the segment have fake hood extractors.
@flaberdoopinКүн бұрын
I have heard the same from a few peoples videos and a couple hater comments on my other videos saying they are just for looks... this isn't a tacoma sport with a big plastic chunk in the way of the TRD Sport hood scoop that serves no purpose other than to look look (and i do think they look cool). Not sure why other than people just hating on them... just more proof that we cant believe everything people tell us on youtube, that is why i try to show as much as i can so you aren't taking my word for it, you can see it yourself and make your own decision. Cheers and thanks for the comment.

Pretty sure some of them are just used to everything like that (vents, exhaust openings, etc) being fake, so they try ro be on the "safe side" when talking about comparatively minor details like that. This tells me they are being lazy.

What you have demonstrated here is really the first part of upgrading your stereo properly. I used to compete in car audio comps in my younger days and the first step is to eliminate the vibrations in your car. Great job on this - the Raptor looks like it would make a nice project to upgrade your stereo if you happen to be an audiophile. Next step would be to replace the factory speakers - you could get a two-way (3 way can sound better but takes more work and tuning) speaker set - a 6 inch mid-range and 1 inch tweeter would be the way to go - you simply build a custom baffle that sits on the back of the speaker. Amplification would then transform the sound and really get the speakers sounding the way they are supposed to as the factory head unit won't have enough power to drive custom speakers properly. A shallow 8 or 10 inch sub would be the last part of the puzzle...building a sub enclosure large enough would be the challenge here. And then you top it all off with an Optima deep cycle battery and custom earthing kit - Boom!
@flaberdoopinКүн бұрын
Thanks for the help... I may look into the deep cycle battery for some other stuff i have in mind. I did end up installing a hideaway sub behind the seat and upgraded the speakers and added an inline amplifier with a DSP. It sounds so much better but still room for improvement that i may take on next spring. You sound like you really know your stuff. I may pick your brain in the future when i get ready to take this on again.

I have the 2024 ford ranger lariat and dont think sound system is that great. This is coming from an audiophile that buys headphones for 2 grand plus lol. The woofer in the back seems to barley make a difference. Let us know what you do in the future that upgrades the sound! btw great and informative video.
@flaberdoopinКүн бұрын
I am not an audiophile but i do appreciate good sound. I did end up replacing almost everything in the B&O system. Upgraded the door speakers and pillar tweeters, replaced the subwoofer with a kicker hideaway and installed a Kicker Key 200 watt amplifier with Digital sound processor. Everything all in was still only about 800 bucks... 1000 if you include all the sound deadening and it sounds a lot better. Cheers.

Nice install but I'm not a fan of the Midland Radios. Too restrictive.
@flaberdoopinКүн бұрын
Yeah, i have only had a hand full of hand helds before and never did anything other than just picking a channel and going from there. I kind of consider this to be the iphone of radios in that it is simple to use but very limiting if you want to do advanced settings. It was what i wanted but understand that true radio enthusiast would want way more control and capability.

Do you have a video on installing the rack with tonneau cover? I have an pretty cheap cover on right now, but want to get a rack and will need to update. Thanks in advance. I am liking the kuat ibex rack - but has not decided.
@flaberdoopinКүн бұрын
The Kuat Ibex is a great rack for sure, i looked at that one in person at the rackattack here in DC... but i have had the Yakima Outpost on previous trucks and i liked the way it looked and the height of it. I dont recall if i did a detailed video on the install... i have taken it off and put it on a few times in videos but i think i usually did it as a timelapse when it came to the rack... i did a detailed video of the tonneau cover install but this is a tonneau off of a 2019-2023 version so it took modification and i focused more on that. The rack itself is actually extremely easy to install if you have a tonneau with the T-slots like mine so i ddn't think people would be that interested in that installation. Maybe next time i take it off and reinstall i'll get a better video for the few that are interested.

Again thanks for all these videos. Ive got the same truck in the driveway now right down to the wheels. Catchcan shows up tomorrow and this material is in my amazon cart. Im thinking of waiting until I make a decision about a roof rack before dropping the headliner thanks to your other video. Excellent tips!
@flaberdoopinКүн бұрын
i wish i had waited to do the headliner until i had a roof rack as well... that is a smart move for sure but getting the doors done early is an easy way to make it quieter and sound better early. The sooner you do it, the easier that black goo will be to get off and stick back on as well. Congrats on the truck. sounds like you picked the right one (color and options) :). Cheers.

A heads up in case you run into future fuse trouble, 50 watt mobile radios can pull 10-12 amps when transmitting. The idle power draw is next to nothing but if you key up a little too long it might pop a 10 amp circuit, they are usually wired into 20 amp circuits. The 20 watt mobiles are fine on 10 amp circuits.
@flaberdoopin8 күн бұрын
Wow, I didn’t realize that. Maybe I’ll replace the 10 amp with a 15 just to be safe. Don’t wanna go to 20 since the in line fuses are 15. Thanks for the info, I appreciate it. Cheers
