I was thinking about doing my Ranger, but might hire it done, but before I hire anyone, I'll need to find out if they are confident enough to do it, and my local Ford dealer has no one who has done this procedure. Maybe a confident Body Shop might be a better choice.

Doesn't it damage the paint on the wheel wells in the bed, it's a pretty tight fit. Not too tight, I hope, that the edges of the plywood scrape the paint of?
@flaberdoopin
@flaberdoopin 21 сағат бұрын
I strapped it down pretty well so it wasn’t moving around. You could fit a towel or a rag or some cardboard in there to protect the paint for sure, it is tight but not that tight. Sadly I have beat the crap out of the bed of my Ranger already so it’s kind of a lost cause for me at this point but I’ll get a spray in bed liner to cover up all the abuse pretty soon

I’m on the fence for the tune until I get a chance to drive my new raptor this winter. The large amount of torque gains scares me a little bit when it comes to driving on icy/snowy roads here in Wyoming. If it doesn’t change the drive ability much then yeah I will get the tune!

That makes sense but I can tell you that the throttle response is not any different in normal mode unless you really stomp on it so it shouldn’t make it uncomfortable in the winter. That said, still probably a smart move to do some frozen roads first

Great video. I am not surprised by the mpg potential for improving with the added torque, it should now be able to hold taller gears longer without needing to downshift, same would apply to climbing a hill, more torque would allow it to hold taller gears making for lower RPS and lower fuel consumption. Use to see that quite often with tuning my turbo diesel trucks. I have my tuner, got a week or so ago, just have not had a chance to download the stuff and get it installed in my Ranger Raptor. Probably try and get that done this weekend.

doughboy, Ford definitely has a parts problem with the 2024 Ranger Raptors. My RR is 3 months old and 2 weeks after buying it a plastic clip broke that holds the plastic wheel well molding piece tight to the truck bed body. Ford dealership and Ford customer complaint dept at 1-800 # both said the same thing (at this time that part is only available for new trucks that are being built and we have no idea when it might be available for your truck) 3 months now and still no part availability, WTF. Also, talking to the Ford service dept guy and he tells me this, that they have had some Ford vehicles with severe issues, and they tell the owner of the vehicle that it could be at least 6 months or longer to get all the parts needed to fix it. Then the owner of the vehicles auto insurance company gets involved and says no we are not doing that, and they cut the owner of the vehicle a check and say buy something else.

doughboy, Sorry about the issue with your truck and I wish you the best outcome. Ford is not the only manufacturer that is having problems with parts though. GM is having issues with parts also, six months ago, before buying my RR I had narrowed it down to buying a 2024 Colorado ZR2 or a 2024 Ranger Raptor and I was reading the forums for both trucks daily to see issues with both. On the Colorado forum one guy with a 2023 Colorado ZR2 had hit a deer and it did lots of damage to the front of the truck. The first thing he did was call his auto insurance co. then truck was taken to the body shop (note his truck was still drivable). Then body shop tells truck owner and ins co. that some of the parts needed to fix the truck are not available or in stock and GM has no idea when they will be. Then truck owner says give me my truck back it is still drivable and call me when you have all the parts. Then his insurance co. says we can't release truck back to you because it is unsafe to drive and a big liability. Then his truck is sitting in the body shop parking lot for 3 months and still all the parts are not available. On the forum he said next time I will do it completely different and not call insurance co. first. The first thing he would do is contact body shop first and make sure all the parts are available.

When I first drove it off the lot and was on city streets I couldn’t tell the difference at all, when you get on it, it is noticeably quicker but not too crazy. I see what some of the other guys and gals were saying that it isn’t only a little quicker but when you go wide open throttle, that’s when it kicks in and it is noticeable for sure. I’m glad I did it. I remember going from my focus ST to my focus RS… it had 100 more HP and I had way higher expectations than the reality with regards to the difference but it was better. That tempered my expectations for this one and it ended up being just what I thought it was going to be. Honestly, the transmission tune alone makes this worth it to me, the extra power is just an awesome bonus

Took a full week to get it finalized but i'm happy with it and it was cool that they took care of me. Tunes are always great as long as its a reliable what i mean with reliable is not to go the max on what the engine and tranny can hold with stock parts ive done tunes on all my cars mitsubishi , hyundai , Honda and bmw never had a problem another thing here is people saying if installing a intake , and exhaust gives it more power it doesn’t work that way even though it can give you 1 hp at most to benefit from those parts more the tune must be adjusted to those parts otherwise you do nothing , the ford procal tune is done using all oem parts not aftermarket
@flaberdoopin
@flaberdoopin Күн бұрын
brilliant point and I will be sure to mention all of this when i make my more in depth video on the tune. You hit the nail on the head that upgrading intake and exhaust dont do much without updating the tune and this is not a tune to be updated... gotta go to an actual custom tune for that stuff. Worth it if you want to take your motor to the edge of capability but they left some headroom with this tune which is a good thing for longevity in my opinion. Thanks a lot!

Looks like both of you are having a blast👍. Not sure what state you are in, or what classification your e-bike is??? I'm in California and there are many trails both street and dirt in this state where you can't even ride Class1 e-bikes or a Class1 emtb's on. Many of the trailheads are marked with signs that say no e-bikes allowed or no motor vehicles allowed. There is a loophole in the USA system though. If you have a mobility disability and a Handicap Placard you can ride a Class1 e-bike or Class1 emtb on almost any trail legally. ADA - Americans with Disabilities Act has ruled that Class1 e-bikes can be considered as an OPDMD = other power driven mobility device. Completely legal nothing that the Police, Park Rangers, or Haters can do about it. When I bought my Class1 emtb (Specialized Turbo Levo) the salesman at the Specialized bike shop didn't know what he was talking about, and he told me you can ride this bike on any trail as long as the trailhead isn't marked with a sign that says (no e-bikes allowed). Then I got busted, (let off with just a warning no ticket) at 3 different parks in the San Francisco Bay Area by Park Rangers. Then I asked the Ranger's I didn't see a sign at the trailhead that says no e-bike allowed? Then they say it's marked with a sign that says (no motor vehicles allowed), and on are web site it says no e-bikes allowed. So then after much research on the web I find out about the ADA ruling on Class1 e-bikes. Which was great for me because I have a Handicap Placard, fused left ankle, and two surgeries right knee.

I started to just try to pull down on the ceiling panel and the glue started to tear away a little from the clip. I"m trying to use a trim pry tool on the clip, but it doesn't seem to want to budge.

@@wellslarsen6744dude, the back clips are the worse. I broke one of them. I have found that it is better to try to go quick with a solid jerking motion. I put my hand in there from the pax door area and when I got close to the clip I just pushed down hard from above the headliner. It sucks for sure but they are just clips so commit to it and give it a yank!

I think the interior space moving from a full size down to a midsize will be the biggest thing to get used to. I love my Ranger but I have only had small trucks, never owned a full size. If you like to go out on trails, the Ranger is easier to maneuver than the full size for sure and the suspension is amazing on this truck. The F150 with a 5.0 would sound awesome and be a great truck. My personal preference is the Ranger Raptor but if you want the larger interior space the f150 is probably best.

Hey buddy. Sorry about the tune. My dealer ordered mine, sent voucher number then texted it to me to register. Keep us posted.

Thanks for the info. It is a big of a pain but I can’t be that mad. Less than $1000 for 100 lbft of torque and 50 hp is worth the weight and the tech was awesome, I was bummed to hear he was in the ER. I think I’m gonna give him a card with an extra $100 in it hoping he feels better soon.

Did you ever get the results back on the oil sample?
@flaberdoopin
@flaberdoopin 7 күн бұрын
Yes, high levels of silicone and copper which is to be expected on new motors during break in period. All other metrics nominal with no coolant or fuel in the oil. Will do another sample on next oil change to see how it is doing at 15k miles

As I watch this video my RR is at the shop getting the tune installed. The boost in torque at lower RPM’s is going to give the truck a welcome upgrade.

How did it go? I’m super jealous, I have had my tune ready for the past week and the dealers are having serious issues around me trying to figure out how to install it

@@flaberdoopin well worth the price. Definitely perked up the truck , especially at lower RPM’s. Smoothed out the shifting. Many of the comments about it should have come from the factory like this. The increase in torque is super noticeable. I had issues finding a dealership to do it. I see you have VA plates. If you are anywhere near Manassas, call Ourisman Ford. Great experience with them.

that is the dealer that I ended up finding to do the work but the tech ended up in the hospital with kidney stones before he was able to get my truck done. Hoping he makes a speedy recovery and is able to get my truck finished up on Monday or Tuesday of next week

They said there are only two technicians that can do the tune. They mentioned one was out sick. My service tech was a guy named Bobby. He was super helpful explaining everything to me. Bobby said he has had six tune installs for the week due to the word spreading. They were the only Ford dealership in NOVA that said they could do it. Good luck. You’re going to like the upgrade. Everything seems smoother about the ride.

Fantastic video and as others mentioned, really appreciate the attention to detail. I just had the the parts arrive this morning and planning to do the door installs this weekend... Not sure if I'm brave enough to tackle the roof yet. Since I've had my RR I've felt like the doors seem a bit hollow - your 'knock test' resonated all the way down in FL;) Hopefully the doing this will make for a nice improvement!

@flaberdoopin 7 күн бұрын
I tried to reply to this yesterday but I don’t see my comment. I think doing the doors will make a huge difference. The roof is a pain for sure and I would say if you ever plan to add a roof rack, kill two birds with one stone and do some sound deadened on the roof when you have the headliner out, but the headliner itself does a pretty good job of insulating the sound from the roof by itself. Cheers and be careful not to cut yourself when you are rolling out the material in the door panels!

@@flaberdoopin All 4 doors are in the books now and while I'll admit it was a bit painstaking (especially in the FL heat), that was worth the effort ten times over. I'm amazed at how much acoustic improvement there is, especially on the HW... I'm not sure I would have gone through the trouble had I not watched your video here so again, many thanks. Also- I took your advice on the gloves and very glad I did. Cheers!

That’s awesome that you were able to get it done. Any issues getting the foam pieces back on? That black goo came off super easy for me so hopefully it was easy for you too and I’m glad to hear you were smarter than me and you used gloves! How many times have you thumped the door since you installed the material just to hear the dull thud? I still do it haha. Cheers!
