I liked the approach of giving yourself only 30 min to see what can be done in a hurry. The best images were done in Enscape, D5 , Twinmotion and Unreal. If you are an architect that don't care too much about hiperrealism and want to make videos out of every project, then Enscape is a breeze, also the lightest one for a laptop. The most balanced option for me is D5, if you push it it´s posible to get Vray like images in a short time. If you are a Viz artist then might be better to take the long learning curve with Unreal of Blender.

What’s crazy is…I’m both an architectural drafter, and civil drafter 💀 so generally….I’m arguing with myself
@cubeboy3130
@cubeboy3130 5 күн бұрын
I want to get into both too. How did you do it if I may ask?
@TropicalThunder21
@TropicalThunder21 3 күн бұрын
@@cubeboy3130 a lot of trade schools offer CAD Drafting courses, and certification programs, generally they’ll be more geared towards mechanical drafting, however, some teach all 3 main types of drafting, mechanical, structural/civil, and architectural. And then some may just teach one discipline. So just do some research, and if you can’t find any schools super close to you, you can always look into online courses, which won’t be as good but it’s still worth a shot. I use Autodesk Revit and SDS2 primarily, but Autocad is a must-learn, that’s a great way to get started. So just start looking into it and good luck! And btw good idea getting into both, it can be pretty lucrative, especially knowing and being ADDA certified in both, could land you some six figure jobs even!

A tip to add to your research if you want to take this serious is “How was this AI trained” who’s data was used, was it trained on data that granted permission to be used for AI models…I can 10000% assure you the last tool did not get permission to train their data on Zaha’s architecture. They scrapping peoples worka nd training on it without their permission or knowledge. This is an issue as how is the IP of the result handled. You need to be responsible when you promote these things, as I personally believe it is neglegent to not understand the legalities of these tools when blindly praising them and marketing them to people with almost no consideration for these above factors. Yeah, AI is trneding, don’t get dragged into feeling like you need to talk about it for views, you cna do it responsibly. If you are indeed an Architect, you are a professional and have a code of conduct of some kind to uphold. Let that filter through to every aspect of your outputs.
@thearchitecturegrind
@thearchitecturegrind 10 күн бұрын
You make a great point about learning how the ai was trained. That is definitely an area where there is some controversy, especially when it comes to using the intellectual property of an architect. I really appreciate the time you took to write this thoughtful comment. I understand that the things I say and promote come with a liability and accountability on my part, but I do think it’s valuable to show what’s out there.

As an Architect, the statement of “it will generate floor plans so you can focus on the actual design” Is insanely concerning! The floor plan is a HUGE part of the design. What are you saying? Is making pretty pictures all you care about? That’s designing for your ego, not for humans or making life better for a buildings users. Your job is to make high quality space for a human to use/live in, the function of that at a layout level is VITAL…if all you doing is ticking regulatory boxes for compliance, you have failed already. Use AI to help geenrate ideas, but remember to keep it human and always apply the considerations of context, the clients brief and the unique aspects of that project specifically (Nothing shown here is doing most of this yet) Right now AI is still working in isolation, especially in these examples. What about context, none of those layouts took sun angles, wind, rainfall, access, neighbouring context, sight lines and many other things into consideration. This is HORRIBLE! AI CAN if done right assist, but this is not it…AI MIGHT in the future be able to do some of these things with the same considerations as a human, but you will need to give it all that context and teach it how to analyse it, weight it up, consider a brief to weight the relevant aspects correctly and then actually arrange space in compliance with regulations and codes and then the specific clients brief. Turning that into a working product as a model or functioning plan is still a fair way off. Once AI can start driving software like revit to execute these thigns with the tools to bring those context consideratiosn into it, then sure, maybe we getting closer, but anyone working on that? Not that I have discovered.
@thearchitecturegrind
@thearchitecturegrind 10 күн бұрын
Ai certainly isn’t something to use for the final design. Like you said, it is still working in isolation so I does understand the context, lighting and other factors that are required to create an intentional design. This video was intended to show some of the ai tool available but they still have a long way to come.

Clearly this is an engineer creating this post, I understand as an architect the challenge all engineers face when presented a design that requires innovative solutions; I also know we all discredit a field we know little about specially if we have a sufficient experience working with each other, but at the end of the day, limits have to be pushed, so our society can have a better life, and it is a conjoined responsibility between architects and engineers to willingly take this responsibility and build a better world so the newer generation of Architects and engineers will have to solve newer problems and also better what we struggled to realize.

In reality it is a team effort where communication and working together is key. Most of the uber fancy architecture stuff doesn't get built and is called "paper architecture". I'm currently studying Architecture/Construction Management so hopefully I'll be able to assist and not design buildings too out of touch with reality

D5 render for mesh management , gi ease of use, support for softwares, one downside though. It's doesn't understand material differences on instances. If instances of N object have different materials then watch out when you export from any software to d5 it will just use the same material for all which actually a huge problem 😊

Architects can also reason based on logic and often they do deconstruct and redefine what’s possible or natural. this engineering “realistic”mindset just emanates nihilistic dead architects dreams when you alienate one from the other. We don’t rely on you to fix our designs; we have the same intrinsic critical thinking and problem solving capabilities, don’t hate lol.

The best of all is free. My boss demands always 3D rendering and animation to see His projects, Twinmotion is not bad at all. it save my time so to avoid overtime and overnight to work. TM Lumen is the answer. I love to use TM than D5. becoz TM lot of resource specially a bunch of realistic people unlike in d5 the 3d people looks real cartoons compare to TM.

This is a great video. I agree with most points. That being said, a software doesn't have absolutely accommodate every field that needs a render engine. I think its good that D5 Render focusses on Architecture, landscaping and Interior Design. Just like how you have Premier Pro and After Effects, both video editors but very very different in terms of what can be done on them. So D5 Render shouldn't lose points for focusing on one thing, rather gain points for trying to perfect the software for one industry before thinking of others.
@thearchitecturegrind
@thearchitecturegrind 28 күн бұрын
Yes you are correct, the software doesn't have to accommodate every field but it is always nice to have. Maybe it didn't come off this way, but I agreed that it was better that D5 Render primarily focused on architecture vs. twinmotion.

As a Twinmotion user, I think this video is a little biased towards D5 since it looks like you have more experience using it. To be fair, D5 is better out of the box than Twinmotion but seasoned users can achieve high quality realism in Twinmotion.
