I saw Marshall several times in the 80’s, I met the band once at After Sundown in Blacksburg VA in 1984, you were gracious to me, a star struck 18 year old @ I have always loved the music, a soundtrack and anthem for my early years. -B.

Nicely done! I have a question, and this is a long shot, and off topic, but I'm having trouble following the timing of start of the chorus to "Whenever You're on My Mind". Is first bar of the chorus in "Whenever You're on My Mind" in 7/8 time or something? Looking to better understand the timing, as it seems different to me than regular 4/4 is occurring at start of chorus. Thanks.

I met your folks at Alpenfest 2002 in Gaylord and they got a kick that I saw Marshall with Robert and Chris Donato, plus John after the first album in Grand Rapids... the Rocket Lounge or a bowling alley? You guys were great! I got a big kick out of your mom trying to be subtle, but proud of her son(s).

Robert, A thank you from Sweden. I was at Bottom Line in NY in 1994 the day before the World Cup kicked off. Marsh was playing a solo concert. I flagged down a random guy after the concert asking to paparazzi a pic with me and M in case he would walk by. That random guy was you. You brought me backstage and you guys did conversation with a tounge tied northener. Got a great pic too. Btw Mary Jean and 9 others is a masterpiece not least because of the drive in the percussion. Thanks again

Hey Robert! I enjoyed your story! I grew up with all the snot nosed kids in Birmingham and graduated from Seaholm High in 1980 (Go maroon and white!) Not much you can do when you're a Maple at a game except pray you don't get killed when that one of Seaholm cheerleader started dancing around in her maroon and white maple leaf costume that could be mistaken for a Klan outfit (Complete with hood!). I never had the pleasure of having your Mom for English at Covington Junior High and I had graduated Seaholm before she taught there but I was in the chorus of a production of Guys & Dolls she helped us put on. After I graduated college, I was always fun to spot your folks in the crowd and say hello. It was like sharing a secrete nod, handshake and a wink that we knew we were in the Crenshaw Brother's Club. I hope everything is well for you and look forward to your new projects!

I was watching this video again. The first clear memory I have of your dad was when he drove with my parents, my younger brother and myself to North Carolina for Golf Camp. I do not remember the name of the place. I think we were there for a week. He was so fun to be around.

Boy, was I surprised when they dropped that Peter Case tune. Although he is a superb pop songwriter, Marshall excels when he's playing a well picked cover by one of his contemporaries. Ben Vaughn's Brenda Lee a case in point, found on the brilliant Downtown LP.
