Christmas isn't Christmas without watching this during The Season at least twice.

Wasn't it Paul Ropeson who sang this song. I remember in the 50s watching this as a child.

I first heard this song through the Righteous Brothers' version. It's an unforgettable Showboat classic for Americans.

My Dad had this sung at his funeral. He said we should find a big black man to sing it so it was like the original. Unfortunately we weren’t able to find a man who fit that description, but it was sung.

This is crazy.... i had never heard a voice like this... At times, he sounds like a Tenor, and then, that rich, full, warm, deep, super dramatic voice... Grandiose...!!!

This is up there with Paul Robeson's rendition, Robeson's is the one that really hits home.

Judy Garland on her TV show was the only other person to match the pathos of this song ..... But of course it will forever belong to William Warfield here.... And let's not forget what the great Paul Robeson did in the original version of showboat... On stage and screen😊😮
