How funny! I wouldn't say I was "intimidated" by a new sketchbook... but maybe a teany tiny bit tentative? So I recently decided to 'break-in' two unused ones - and one was an Etchr. After all, they ARE rather expensive. But wait! Guess how I broke them both in? Yep, I painted a bird in each one!

Hi Leanne, do you know how to make postcards?
@LeanneLandArt5 ай бұрын
To make a postcard you would follow the same steps, but make your Procreate artboard the size you would want your printed postcard to be. And then still bring the final image into an 8.5x11" artboard in Procreate and print it on cardstock. If your postcard was small enough, you could likely fit two on one 8.5x11" sheet and print two at once. Hopefully this helps! ☺️💕

I found this book for more of an intermediate to advanced painter. It has little instruction for mixing, technique, strokes. You'll have to bring those to this book. Katie does a fantastic job of giving examples and things to consider when observing a scene. A skill which may be more important overall. I've been painting a year now and Katie challenges me to think first, and learn new skills. I'm going to enjoy this book for years. Thanks for the video.
@LeanneLandArt6 ай бұрын
You're right, it is a great concentrated reference. She really understands and paints light well. And the examples are incredibly helpful, especially from other artists so you can see a similar approach from different perspectives along with the examples she provides. These little books are my fav! 😊

Ok, I’m not a marker person (watercolour/gouache person lol), but I love all things related to craft-organization so I still found this very interesting 😊. Thank you! 😊 I know what you mean about having old hobby and art supplies kicking around. Once every few years I get the spark to haul something out and create with it, then the moment quickly fades and back they go into the closet. ☺️ I do enjoy looking at all the pretty markers on my desk, but I really don't use them as much as I wished I did. 🙃

It’s the caps on the sketch, even if you don’t use it, the caps may be loose and cause the marker to dry out. I have lost 25 sketch markers already. This is a known issue. It’s great that your boss was able to print storage for you. Now I am going to go through all my colours and check (full set here) and check the Sketch markers to see which ones have died. Keep creating 💛💜💙
@LeanneLandArt9 ай бұрын
Ah, I did read recently about the caps being faulty when I was trying to find a solution on how to fix my marker. You've lost 25 markers already - wow, that's crazy! I realized the ink inside the barrel has crystallized and I can't get it out so I bought a replacement yesterday. It's so sad when that happens, I really hate to throw it out. 😅 I'm jealous of your whole set, that's amazing! Those are definitely my artist goals! 😊💕

I'm in an art slump right now and I don't feel like creating, you are so right: if you force yourself to create when you feel uninspired whatever you create won't be satisfactory to you. I guess that the press of posting on IG has drained the creativity out of me. Anyways, I love your channel and really appreciate your videos!
@LeanneLandArt9 ай бұрын
Ahh, art slumps are so tough. I heard a quote once that said you need to put deposits into your creative bank account in order to take withdraws. I always assumed that to mean doing research, looking at other art and taking a break to become inspired and allowing that time it takes. It's so hard to not feel guilty about it either, but it can really help. Hopefully the inspiration and excitement to create isn't too far away. ❤️

I like these, but the pans kept falling out (even when they were wet). Then I’d have to swatch them all out again, and it was really tough to tell which was which, since they all looked very dark. I appreciate your video,though, as it helped me get the pans back (hopefully) in the right order!
@LeanneLandArt10 ай бұрын
I'm glad the video was helpful. It is frustrating how easily they do fall out of the pans. I haven't used them enough to have them settle at all so I'm also in the same boat as you. I wonder if maybe putting a very small piece of 2-way tape under each one would help them stay in place, or maybe some glue dots. That might be something to try.

If the paint is falling out of the pan, try glueing it back in with a tiny drop of honey.

Lovely gifts!! I like seeing art-related items and am intrigued by the little printer. I briefly looked into the Canon Selphy, but then abandoned that idea and finished my Christmas shopping for other people 😂. I’ve seen Travelers journals and all of their little accessories / refills and it seems like such a cool concept! I haven’t gotten into journaling yet, so my money is safe… so far 😅. I picked out two Stoneground watercolour palettes for my to give me for Christmas and I also received a couple of gift cards (for my local art store) that I haven’t quite decided how to use yet.
