As for this almost idyllic, peceful Myrthana - you'd think Germans of all peopole would know how to make a dangerous warzone occupied by hostile enemy forces and how it sucks for the occupied civillian population. Apparently the PB guys didn't know that.

As a former Army officer I would like to weigh in. There are a lot of really bright people in the U.S. military. To impugn someone because they were “just a sergeant” demonstrates a complete lack of familiarity with the people who serve in the enlisted and NCO ranks of our military. One of the reasons a lot of people go into the military is for the educational opportunities serving provides, both while you are in and afterward with the GI Bill.

Thank you for the masterpieces. its 9 years now and I still think about you and your Gothic videos. We really miss you brother, I hope youre fine and again thank you for the Gothic videos. Just saw a comment from nine months ago that the creator had liked. It seems like he lives! At least in October or November of 2023 he was still around. Funny how every time I have watched these videos over that past several years I walk away with a slight sense of sadness. I always think, “I should really see if I can find out what happened to this guy…” I never did try to look him up, however. I think I was afraid something tragic had happened to him. Anyway, the thought he is still out there is enough to make my day! Cheers!

@@ColdHawk We must always start from the good. I can't predict the future, but I hope he's doing better than well. I just miss his videos and whenever I finish the Gothic series, I also feel this sadness as if something is over, but it always goes on, doesn't it? I'm waiting for the day he gives a sign of life again and will welcome him with open arms haha until then, everyone stay well and play Gothic :D

I'm not sure if this dialog appears only when you join a sect camp, but I remember when cor angar said to me I'm the most powerful man in the colony now. I was mind blown, it was the first time a game actually acknowledged that I really am the most powerful man in the entire game's world. In other games people are going to still treat you like shit despite you can kill them with one finger.

I do like after every episode the game threw new challenges and changes to the world that even after you get good weapon and armor you still have moments you could do nothing but run and figure things out through your wits rather than just hack and slash.

I am glad the orcs are portrayed as a very hard to kill and dangerous foes as they should be and it shows why the militia/paladins were getting their asses whooped.

Wait you don't understand why that ore is so good? You don't remember the armor you wore on Gothic 1? Also Gothic 2 will refresh your memory why that ore is so good if you get to that part.

I kind of like this kind of fighting system. It makes sense both of you wear armor and your sword swings won't do much to them but if it hits between the kinks of the armor that would take them down that's kind of the hit chance thing going for or at least I imagine it that way. A smore skilled fighter will land a hit between the kinks of the armor in between the plates.

Magic is incredibly powerful in Gothic 1 and 2 as magic should be. They are used as ways to get around challenges you normally couldn't get around. Scroll format is limited so you have to use them in the worst situations or to get past someone hard to beat.

Another crazy cool shit about Gothic 1 If you get really good at the fighting system you can actually get some of the best weapons in the game early on just by beating really strong enemies. So it comes down to your gameplay levels and knowledge on how far you can get in the game early on.

Episode 1 is the most fun where you can finish quests in anyway you perceive you want them done. You can maximize your XP gain, ore gain whichever side you want or take from the NPCs everything they have. Including their lives. I remember wiping out the entire Old Camp before proceeding to do the same with New Camp. Episode 2 and 3 kind of leaves the place almost the same except for new spawns and storyline but then it gets kind of linear RPGing.

Always come back to this series after a while or so. Can remember a time few years ago, pre-pandemic, watching the Gothic 3 part while on acid at 4:00 AM and slowly sipping smirnoff with orange juice. Too bad you didn't stick to YT Durmin but thanks for what you took the time to make. Gothic is one of my fav games, combat aged so badly you can't share it with everyone unless they're old, hardcore, sweaty cave nerds that played things like Crussaders of Might and Magic on PC/PSX It's like Johnny Walker's Blue Label, an elixir, un elissir. As this series. Im thinking on getting the Sleeper's mark inked, idk, maybe will update. Big love man.

I have wondered what might have happened to the guy who created these videos I have enjoyed so much over the years. When I saw that response on a video from just nine months ago I yelled out loud, which completely confused my wife, my son, who thought I was watching a fairly serious documentary with them. The dog, sensing strong emotion I think, ran over to make sure I was okay. The internet is a funny thing!

I think the conclusion we must reach is that Durmin uses this channel to upload stuff to show his friends and he forgot to private the last one. A bit disappointed he isn't coming back but happy to know he's alive.

Never going to happen, the game is fundamentally bad in its core. No mod, or patch can save Gothic 3. Even with the latest patches and mods in 2023, the game is horrendous compared to the first two games and Archolos. The best thing they can do, is just remake the whole game in the Gothic 2 engine, similar to what Archolos did, and tell an original story that is a continuation of the events of Gothic 2, featuring the nameless hero and the rest of the well-known characters.

@@Soulfly415 Yup, but that's probably never gonna happen either. That's the sad truth, no matter what some people them themselves. Gothic 3 problem was never really bugs or that it was unfinished - the problem was the horribly bad concept, horribly bad world presentation, horribly bad writing (if you can even call that writing), nonexistent plot, lack of consistency with previous games. In Gothic 2 PB did a fantasic job with the Mine Valley - a hostile, dangerous enviroment, destroyed by war, burned down by dragons, where everyrhing wants to kill you, there's a feel of overall doom awaiting to happen, one bastion of humanity still defending itself, and as the game progressses the people outside the castle get killed, either by animals or by war efforts. This is how the whole Myrthana should feel like in Gothic 3. Now that I think of it, if the Mine Valley happened in Gothic 3, the orcs surrounding the castle would probably offer you hot soup and in the background there'd be Vista Point playing. Imagine the horror.
