They are different beasts really. US obviously overperforms on average historically but has a higher risk of downside. Why not just invest in both through a global or developed market tracker?

Can someone explain to me how it's possible that when I have USD based stock investments running, some of them are in minus- while others are in plus+. They are all exchanged back to GBP so how do they differ? This seems to be very fishy on Trading212. Not just this actually...

The only time I would definitely put money on UK stock market is when and if British ISA gets introduced. It did not happen in 2024.

Hi Mitch. I’m new to this. Is it better just to leave money in shares for long term because they don’t really go up or down much in short term. Thanks 🙏🏻

When it comes to clothes especially those on sale, I ask myself "would I buy this at full price". If my answer is no I wouldn't, then it means I don't like it enough. If it's "yes I would" then I go ahead and make the purchase. This mindset has helped me a lot.

I set myself a £50 monthly personal limit for all personal spending on hobbies which for me is hiking and vlogging those hikes. It would be so tempting to go out and buy all the latest gear but if I want something and have to save a few months for it, by the time i get there i quite often change my mind about it. I've wanted an apple watch for a while and after saving for 6 months I just got a version 8 - no point buying brand new tech, same go's for phones - I would never buy a brand new phone, plenty of good deals when you go 3 years old.

I agree that there are strategies that could be put in place for solid gains regardless of economy or market condition, but such executions are usually carried out by investment experts or advisors with experience

Reason I decided to work closely with an brokerage-adviser ever since the market got really tensed and the pressure became so much(I should be retiring in 17months) so I've had an brokerage-adviser guide me through the chaos, its been 9months and counting and I've made approx. 650K net from all of my holdings.

I Hit 110k today. Thank you for all the knowledge and nuggets you had thrown my way over the last months. Started last month 2024. Financial education is indeed required for more than 70% of the society in the country as very few are literate on the subject. thanks to Charlotte Miller for helping me achieve this

Surprised you are not doing the grocery shopping online. I stick to a favourite list so no temptation of passing something in the shopping aisle that grabs my attention. There’s of course a delivery fee but I think it’s worth it for the petrol I save and the time I get back.

Just because something is past its best buy date does not mean it needs to be discarded. I shop at 2am, great, but I plan main meals at the shop to take advantage of any offers. I very rarely pay full price. Where I live food is expensive as most has to be imported but 1 supermarket has most things - if you buy 4 you get a discount which starts at 10% but can be quite a lot more.

This Xmas I’ve bought 1oz silver Britannia coins for many people. It’s an asset we should all have and when they do eventually cash the coins in, they’ll have gone up a lot in value… (approx 11% per year since I’ve been buying silver). This way I’m encouraging smart financial habits with cool gifts that can fit inside an envelope rather than wasting time wrapping gifts people don’t even want.
