Nothing new here except for the name. It was called the tucked half blood knot since - all my life.. if you leave out that last turn back pass through, it’s a simple half blood knot. Tying flies to leaders? Never used anything else for - always. NB. Not for copolymer. Only for nylon mono. Copolymer is too slippery for a simple half blood. Too easily broken too - and expensive. Better with ordinary nylon!

I admire Gerald for his view/perspective. I don't doubt it works for him. it's basically the old Wood Daves approach. However, I must confess I'm not man enough to make it work... so I follow the 'Randall Tharp' approach. No offense to mr. tharp! 🤣

In my experience a slack line is not the way to go. I get a better hookset taking most if not all the slack out. Randall Tharp was right on that wired2fish video years ago

100% makes sense. Thanks. My question comes when spoiling AN EMPTY REEL. Some reels have holes in the spool so you can knit around the hole. Others are solid spools: What’s the best way to knit and spool THOSE solid reels?

I am 63 years old. My Father was a great bass fisherman. I have been fishing for 57 years. I have put my time in fishing. In 2019. I finally learned how to use a baitcaster. Now I have 4 of them with two Spincaster reels. I decided that I will probably never have a boat to fish out of. So I decided to be the best bank fisherman that I could possibly be. Learn reels, rods, line, Top water, cranks and soft plastics. In 2020 on mothers day. I caught over 43 bass in 43 casts. It's a Flurry. The greatest time of fishing I ever had. Till I went to the other end of the pond. I caught a 6 pounder on the same KVD 1.5 Sexy Shad squarebill crank. Those days come don't come very often in Bass fishing. What I am getting at is. I redid my whole fishing line up. Went back to the basics in Bass fishing. Then added up to date techniques. Learned from the Pro's on KZbin. Then went after my fishing goals. Covid 19 gave me the time to get near the water and practice till it became a old hat. I learned to read the wind, temps and water clarity. I haven't been skunked in over 4 years. 2 years straight I caught bass every month for 24 months in a row. The water never froze up till late in the winter. My last time out in September in 2023. I caught two bass. On a Hybird Hunter Jr and a Z man Chatterbait. My bass fishing campaign is still alive 4 years later. September being the hardest month so far. I am not bragging. It is a goal I set for myself. I have had 2 heartattack's and Prostate cancer a year ago. I love to fish it just gets better if you put the time in. So do your home work. You can do anything. You put your mind too. Even at 59 or 60 years old! Shawn.

I tear it up on my river with spinning rods. I never had a baitcaster so I don't know any better! Lol. I can cast accurately and I land alot of fish. The only problem I encountered was setting the hook on 3/0 or higher ewg hooks in my kayak with spinning gear so I just nose hook my flukes and use a wacky rig instead of a texas rigged worm. I do get the dreaded line twists sometimes but I catch fish on multiple lures and soft plastics. I love my wacky rig!!!
