I cant describe how grateful I am to you for making this video and I would like the video and subscribe to your channel for explaining what we should have gotten from Dragon Age Dreadwolf, but your willful ignorance and opinion regarding they/them pronouns put a stop to that. You are an adult. Its your responsibility to educate yourself on things that dont make sense to you. If you had done that before making this video it would have been perfect. Ignorance, bigotry, discrimination, and down right stupidity have always been prevalent in the US. These ignorant people ostracize, ridicule, belittle, hurt (both physically and mentally) and even murder people here just for being different. Your words are very harmful and you should be ashamed.

Well, I am not playing this. I actually am really happy to have watched this video so I can make my own canon in my head instead of all the atrocities they did with one of my most beloved franchises. I do NOT trust bioware. And I don't care if it's selfish or whatnot, but everyone involved in making those decisions highlighted in this video should be fired. Everyone. And if Bioware should shut down before fucking mass effect, so be it.

I agree with most of what you said, but the ‘elementary school taught me’ commentary was very cringe. The singular they has existed for hundreds of years, as have non-binary identities across cultures. There is so much to dig into concerning the failures of Taash’s character writing without being lazy and not even attempting to understand the real life equivalents. It’s boring and not thought provoking to critique something on a “I don’t get it so I don’t like it” The Oxford English Dictionary goes through the historical precedent for the singular they-first seen in publication in the 1300s. I’d hope we could engage with language beyond an elementary school education. I also have a psychology degree along side a neuroscience degree. Being trans is in and of itself not a mental disorder and using perceived plural pronouns is not inherently indicative of Dissociative Identity Disorder. Mental illnesses generally involve distress caused to those around you or to oneself, simply being nonbinary is not a mental illness and definitely not in the DSM.

Hey Boss, I know you were critiquing reviewers who highlighted some of the messaging as distracting, lore-breaking, and annoying (the non-binary character and the finger-wagging if a character uses the wrong pronoun). But don't you think that the writers and developers fixation on shoe horning some of those things into the game directly resulted in compromising the quality of the story? Vision, focus, and effort are all limited resources. So where were they spent when it came to making DAV? To your own critiques of the game, storytelling was not maximized.
@robnmore10 сағат бұрын
This video could’ve been interesting but jesus your takes are on LGBT+ topics are severely bigoted and uneducated. Taash’ story is badly executed, yes, but “seemingly constant themes on LGBT” in the game is just false. It’s mentioned a few times for a total of maybe 10 minutes in a 80+ hour game. You claim queer culture isn’t in Eastern Europe, which I beg to differ, yet you clearly felt comfortable enough to give your negative opinion on non-binary people and insist on calling Taash a woman. You put all this effort into researching everything else for this video, but couldn’t bother to show basic compassion to people different than you.

EA meddled with Bioware too much. The forced decision of transforming DA4 into a live service multiplayer game broke the spirit of many of the most talented people there. It came out still as an incredible game. But I do agree that many things about those scrapped ideas for Joplin felt better or more akin to the series overall. I can see how they did the best they could with the remaining budget and time constraint after EA decided they should restart again as a single player game.

I will try to open a conversartion here! So please be civil in the coments 🧡 I really think that you should try to do a research yourself, so you dont have to blindly accept what im saying, but the singular they is grammatically corret, what you talk about in the video is the plural they, and thus your video is spreading misinformation about grammar. "The Oxford English Dictionary traces singular they back to 1375, where it appears in the medieval romance William and the Werewolf. " How do you say that "all the persons in the world loves *their* mother"? See, you dont use "his" cause that would implicate that everyone is a male, so there is a gender neutral pronoun in singular that is grammatically correct. You need to watch out with how you make your point of view, cause all the segment about gender in this video just doesntt align that well with the rest of it, and it is such a great video, you putted everything, but this theme, in such a great way to digest! So for me its a huge pitty to see that unfortunally your prejudice about different genders made such a great video not so great for me.

I also feel that when you sy that in europe, queer genders are close to non existence, just marks that you live in a bubble. I call you to pop that bubble. Please research more about the history of lgbt+ in europe, and dont try to be a voice of all europe. Yes, non binary genders are just fairly comming to mainstream rn, but in other places, like here in the amerifas, indigenous people already had non binary genders. Again, i really like how this video was going, it was very well planned, but this bit where you just rant about your personal opinions, which would be fine it it was only that, but opinions that you didnt research at all to make, and even put like its common sense, when its personal, really bummed me out

I honestly think you nailed it. The narrative makes sense and has concept art AND parts in veilguard that support ur theories of what got left behind/cut/changed entirely. Especially with the 5 endings at the end of the game which makes sense. I think Dragon Age Dreadwolf was meant to be the final installment in the series with those 5 endings being very very transformative to the world of Dragon Age. Im so sad now though I would have played this game 5 times at least and now I don't even want to spend the money on a Dragon Age game

Plural Personal pronounce We You they. So only You make sense for using singular if u dont want to be a she or he. Or just use IT or new pronounce. In Germany we have er sie es. Dorian's personal storyline literally revolves around his father trying to change him through blood magic because of his sexuality, and Inquistion isn't subtle about it. When the game came out, there was backlash against that, and it's very funny that people are now embracing it because they've found something new to hate. I get that you don't understand genre discourse -- it's a changing conversation, and I'll be the first to admit that the writing in Veilguard is as rudimentary as it comes. But to say this franchise has never taken strong political stances is simply incorrect. Writers have every right to introduce real-life issues into their art, especially in a franchise that has made a consistent effort to be inclusive since its first entry. I appreciated your video up until you became dismissive of things you clearly don't understand and aren't your place to comment on.

@@tiarabelle6155sure they are, but its not rational to dont like something on a wrong and hypocrit premisse. Lgbt+ is present even in 2009s Origin, all characters on II are bisexual, inquisition has a lesbian, a gay, and even trans characters, the comics have Mae, a transexual woman, dragon age always had that, being vocally mad about it just know seems weird.
@tiarabelle615513 сағат бұрын
@@0range0ceans the difference was that it wasn't so rammed down your throat. It was there if you wanted it to be but you could avoid it. That shows that the people that are annoyed are not the bigots people say they are. its only now when its unavoidable. If people claim that people should be able to live how they want etc, that extends both ways and some people are just not into it. And that is OK. Also, as an English speaker, up until recently, they/them was always used to describe multiple people. Not someone that didn't know their sexual identity. So he is correct in that regard. People want to play games to escape this sh!tty world we live in and now they are bringing modern politics into games. There is no escaping reality. At the end of the day, they would have to be saying that a vast majority of people are all the phobes... which then makes you wonder, how many people actually believe in the pronoun LGBT+ stuff.... it may actually be a lot less than you think....Most people are completely fed up with it. As a lesbian myself, im over it!

It has some major issues but if you deal with it without expectations, it is still better than a lot of other games IMHO. I take it and enjoy it. It's heartbreaking to see what it could have been, but that's a feeling I often have with... Well, so many games, including some of Bioware's best ones. It is never what I dreamt... 😅. I just hope the license survives and the next game is better. After DA2, we had DAI. The lore deserves more games. And they learn from their mistakes. A lot can happen depending on the future team, EA, Mass Effect 5's reception...

The biggest slap in the face for me in Veilguard was the update from your Inquisitor telling you that all of Fereldan but Skyhold has fell to the blight like Awakening never happened, like your HoF and Alistair never started the process of rebuilding the Fereldan Wardens and Veilguard is decades after this so what? Do these devs think there are 0 Grey Wardens in Fereldan at this point and the HoF doesnt exist or something. Where was Hawke? Hes either in the fade, helping Aveline with the blight in the FM or with their partner(i went with Isabela), again ZERO mention of our champion. Like I said they treated the previous installments with such disrespect and it feels like they didnt even play them at points. How did EA greenlight the game we got and not the superior 'Dreadwolf' version that was clearly planned for us. Dont misunderstand me i dont hate everything about Veilguard I like the combat even though it is limited and "buildless" and the Weisshaupt mission is great i love missions where you are being bombarded with enemies, I like Neve as a character and her questline and romance were good but thats about it.

I would PAY the top tier on a Kickstarter campaign for this game; the story and game we deserved. But i disagree. It absolutely deserved the disapproval it has gotten. The critoc reviews were manufactored by only giving early access codes to those they knew would write highly favorable reviews. Which is misleading and misleads people to invest money into buying a game based on that weasley move. I like the way the game looked and I didnt hate the combat system. Character creation could have had more hair styles but whatever. Veilguard wasn't made for dragon age fans. It was made for the employees. I played through to the end and even halfway through a second playthrough trying tonsee if it would he different, then uninstalled it. DA:O, DAII, Awakenings, and Inquisition werent perfect at all, some people hated them for the reasons they had, some valid some stupid. But Veilguard is just so much MORE hated, and the objective reasonings (not knee-jerk reactions) are absolutely valid. The story was mangled like a reciept that went through the wash. All our choices, the world that was built on our choices, was drowned and then set on fire. The fact is, the lore and history and our world building choices got in the way of a specific narrative they wanted to push. They sanitized the gritty nature of a medieval-setting story for the sake of their narrative. What THEY found to be important to THEM was shoved down our throats like an HR sensitivity training video. We have no player agency. Our choices mean nothing. We can agree three different ways, but only agree. Being "good" is not fulfilling because you are forced to be. You are a therapist and babysitter. The companion personal stories are vapid, shallow and annoying. No one cares about a conpanion being nonbinary. No one cares when a character is gay. DA has always had this. But it wasnt good enough, it had to be a central feature and the use of language that is NOT compatible with the medieval style world of a dark fantasy like DA made it a pandering mess. And the reaction from the developers when people hated the game, for a myriod of reasons, was like "The game is great and if you dont like it then its solely because youre a bigot." I clukdnt care less about the DEI inserts in the game. If the story, lore and DA history had remained intact with interesting characters akd dialogue, I would have LOVED this game. Also, I couldnt make a character that looked like me. The whole push for inclusivity but certain feature options were nonexistent. I couldnt make a character that looked as feminine as i wanted. With the shape I wanted. Because apparently, like the director stated, it was weird to want my character to look like me ( who has a D cup and hourglass body type) its weird to look like me i guess. Not okay. But thats minor compared to the assassination of the lore. The plotholes, the retcons, the terrible dialogue amoutning to some of the worst I'd ever seen. It was cringe. Amateurish. Like it came out of a teen's fanfiction on Wattpad. The humor and "witty" script like bad knockoff Marvel humor that didnt fit. I was waiting for someone to say "skibbity toilet riz" at some point. Then Solas being relegated to being some sort of fade Hannibal Lector giving advice from Fade Prison....was lame. His ending was just...ick. Fereldan was destroyed as a footnote. The center of all our story in the previous games. It survived blights so much. Got wiped out. The inquisitor was just...there. the ending of inquisition and what they did in Veilguard is so disjointed and fragmented I firmly believe the writers didnt research the lore or care about it. They read a short summary of it all and said "well thats not condusive to the narrative WE want to ship out. Retcon all of it." And taash could have been a great character. They butchered her. All for an ideology they were going to FORCE you to care about. And youre a bigot if you dont care ENOUGH about it. Indifference or tolerance to people existing and letting people just be themselves with free choice is not good enough. You need to champion it and be as emotionally involved in it as the writers are in it. Or youre a bigot. I think the DEI consultants thay were brought on strongarmed their own rabid zealotry into everything and Bioware had no cojones to say "no". Patrick is not a bad writer...but i think personal interest bled through in this installment. A person, and their priorities, can change in ten years.

You shouldn't say something for everyone in Eastern Europe. Who are 'we' that don't understand? I live in that part of the world too, and being in that part of society (LGBTQ+) I see them and there are a lot of them. They are invisible for people like you because you ''don't understand such things'' and they try not to be seen to avoid hatred and disrespect, and because of the anti humanists laws that violate human rights. After 150 hours on Nightmare and 52/52 achievements I've completed my first playthrough. I've forced myself to play the game to unlock every lore possible, my expectations were already low cuz I new it was supposed to be a multiplayer game first and then it was rushed to be something else which we can see on the final product that it was actually rushed and wouldn't be the first time Bioware does this. Everything was a complete let down besides the graphics and landscape. Somehow they've managed to make Elgar'Nan more underwhelming than even Corypheus. The exploration is very limited and completely unrewarding item and gear wise. We didn't even get to see Minrathous besides in concept art. The gameplay is a disgrace, it is basically a clicker game with the option to use an ability every 30-40 seconds and the enemy AI is useless as well as it always follows the same pattern. Feels like this game was initially supposed to be a mobile point and click game. The marketing team needs to get fired asap cause they've managed to spoil the whole game through trailers and gameplay reveals. Of course we still didn't get closure for our Warden or even Hawke. At this point every real DA fan will stick to just replaying Origins and hopefully this is the last game Bioware ever makes.

Gods, when I thought about what the plot SHOULD have been like, this is actually not far from the "best possible scenario" plot I imagined - Especially when I saw the letters. It would be extremely satisfying, make much more sense when considering existing lore, and been a FAR more respectful way to "scorch the earth". It would feel "right" because we could SEE our previous protagonists trying to stop the chaos. They would be active participants instead of TLDR memos in the lore entries. I'm so freaking sad. This is the game we SHOULD have gotten. So freaking sad. 😞 re the pronoun they/them, you're speaking from an American English perspective. The English language has used they/them as EITHER plurality OR gender neutrality or unknown gender for CENTURIES, it's only recently that religion and American ideology has removed that nuance of the word. There are MANY languages that include gender neutral pronouns. Clearly nonbinary people do not think they are multiple people. People with alters generally (at least those I've met) use "we/us" not "they/them". Not understanding something doesn't mean it's "sick" or "mentally ill". That said, many nonbinary people don't give a fig if people don't say "they" unless they're close friends or family. We get it. We're not well liked. People can't be bothered listening to us, the bible is easier. The portrayal of Taash in this game is over the top, humiliating to watch, and nothing ANY nonbinary or genderqueer person I know would want.
