Well done. Season 1, Episode 15 of the original "Twilight Zone" series has a similar premise, only it has three astronauts, with one turning on the others in a bid to survive longer on the desert-like "alien" planet. The twist is revealed when the surviving crew member comes upon telephone poles, a road, and a sign for Reno, Nev. But even with a similar plot and twist, "Astronaut" doesn't feel like a retread. The script by Ammar Sonderberg comes across as original and distinct, and not just because of its obvious differences from "I Shot an Arrow into the Air" (the name of the referenced "Twilight Zone" episode.) The film is less about human behavior and more a study in solitude, in both the literal sense and in the sense of being trapped -- in this case, in one's own mind, unable to communicate effectively with the outside world. Sonderberg, who also directs, deftly ramps up the emotion -- and terror -- through a series of flashbacks (really well shot, by the way), and leaves us with a final sequence that is both horrifying and creepily delicious. 4.3/5

Well done! It might assist in enhancing th realism by using a lense filter to dim the sunny parts of the video since it appears he is not close to the sun and its brightness.

but there is a surprising twist at the end. Which I thought would be along the lines of dude waking up with a huge hangover next to an empty bottle of liquor while in a cardboard box revealing himself to be homeless, dressed in dirty smelly looking clothes living under a boardwalk among other homeless people. He tells himself WTF, gets up out of his box and walks to where crowds of people are so can pan handle.

Pretty good. But the plot feels a bit forced. Can't squeeze water from a stone. The visuals were stunning, though.
