@MikeMac89 so it's precisely what I thought. any idiot can build a bridge but leave it to an engineer to build one that barely stands up. evidently all the strength is in the roof & attachment of the support cable in that lift car. absolutely nothing silly about tying off, especially if the dufus that built the thing instructs you to do so. kinda lets you know where maintenance techs like yourself fit into the grand scheme of things tho 🤦‍♂️

I presume it's because elevators intended for lifting people without harness is required to adhere to some strict regulations and to have safety features that will make lift inside wind tower to big and expensive. So from legal and technical strandpoint it's a freight elevator or something like that, which person can ride only with harness. In my opinion, pretty understandable compromise in an area where people use harnesses anyway.

@dadsworkshopbykipplabrie7982 4.2 GPM might not be enough flow with the current installed nozzle. These take a lot of initial flow to pop them up with the high flush rate of the wiper seal. I special ordered the black nozzle. It's for low pressure low flow applications as the mid range port is blocked off. It has only the small range port and close in spreader. The normal nozzles have all three ports open and require more than 4gpm to operate properly unfortunately.

Great video but I still can’t figure out how to get the left side of the spray to stop about 6 feet from going too far left. It’s stopping perfectly where I want it to on the right side. I installed the Rainbird 5000 not Plus. It’s working fine but can you please explain to me how I can get it to turn about 6 feet less to the left? Right now it’s turning a bit more than 180 degrees to the left. I know it should be simple but I’m just not getting it. Thank you so much
@MikeMac89
@MikeMac89 4 ай бұрын
@Doowopsid Of course ! Your left edge is fixed and not adjustable. So you need to start with the left edge. Rotate the entire sprinkler in the ground if you have wiggle room , in this case you'd be tightening it on the fitting by turning the sprinkler clockwise. If you don't have the room to move it then you can unscrew the top cap and remove the cartridge from the can. The bottom of the riser is "geared". Find your left stop , then align the cartridge the best you can with the left edge of your landscape, fine tune it by turning the entire sprinkler body on the fitting. You must always start with the left edge with the RB 5000. Once you're good to go on the left edge , use the adjustment screw on top to move your right stop. I will make you a video tomorrow on how to do this !

I also don’t exactly know how the slip clutch mechanism works yet but I think it should be a pretty cool and easy way to adjust the radius I believe. I just have to watch your video a few more times. I’m 90% there and just happy that I was able to screw the sprinkler canister on since it did not go on easily. It needed a lot more pressure for it to catch on the threads and start to turn. The Hunter PGPs I used before went on a lot more easily for some reason. But it is working fine but it’s just going a bit further left than I want. Thanks again!
@MikeMac89
@MikeMac89 4 ай бұрын
@Doowopsid the slip cluch I'd good , but iv ruined many heads because it stops working and strips the gears. You'll know if it's working, turn it to the left stop and apply a little more pressure. You'll feel the clutch slip and allow you to rotate to move the left stop. If the head is older chances are the clutch will be seized and not work. Iv found it just as easy to do it the way I explained. If you decided to use the clutch , keep turning it to the left until you are happy with your left position.

Lots of side splash coming off the sprinkler on the left side of the sprinkler upon impact. This seems to defeat the purpose of having the "precision jet" to direct all spray away from traffic. I mean really, check out the top-down slo-mo view in the video at about 4:30 . The side spray appears to even be shooting BEHIND the sprinkler head - right where traffic would be if the impact was located on a riser adjacent to the highway. This is either a really bad design flaw, or a poorly soldered tube, in my humble opinion. Sorry for the rant.😔

@@1caculusman Good eye , I was running these at over 70 PSI which no doubt contributed to the splash you’re talking about. And correct , the RB tube design was more circular allowing more water to be directed out the tube, the WB design wasn’t as refined. If you’re driving on the interstate a foot away from this sprinkler on a riser doing over 60mph you may get some splash on you. Still , compared to a spoon drive which directs ALL the water to the side, this would have been a massive improvement.
