I didn't even know Buckner still existed. I replaced in the 70s, all front sprinkler heads with brass Buckners. Got tired of the heads being broken, every time someone drove over one. Did such a good job, a snow plow got it's blade damaged when it hopped the curb in the winter, because the head was 4 millimeters above the ground. My dad planted special grass from Florida seed which overtook the heads every spring, so left a little up and the blade caught it. Come spring thaw, had to replace 20 feet of poly pipe as that got damaged, along with a connector underground that split in half.

Beautiful example of this ag workhorse from Buckner. Between the copper spring and the patent pending bearing (if that is the original), this could be a very early example. These lasted in the product line through the 1970’s, but my money is on this being late 1950’s. You capture it beautifully in your video. Great job!

@antiquesprinklers Thanks a lot Bill ! I was waiting for you to chime in on the dates ! I knew it would be from the 50s or very early 60s based on the patent pending bearing but wasn't sure ! Thanks for the comment :)

@@MikeMac89 they patented that GDG bearing in the mid-50’s.

It works great and obviously you have a classic masterpiece of art work. I could never run such a beauty in my tiny yard. The one thing I find very interesting in this sprinkler is that it has a bearing spring design rather than the older bearing assembly with out the spring. The other thing that seems interesting, there is no diffuser to break up one stream or the other even a little bit. I like how well it operates. Thank you for sharing your video. Just a side note, for me the music does not compliment the sound of the sprinkler operation.

@randyvanheusden732 Hey Randy ! Thanks for the comment. Yes I am blessed with only one neighbour who's never home so they don't mind me spraying water into thier yard! I'm uncertain if the spring was added in the restoration process or not. Yes I'm sure you could retrofit a drive nozzle with a diffuser pin however this one really throws the water !! Thanks for the criticism Randy , it's more of a personal preference to spice up the video segments but I will take that into consideration for future videos! You think no music for the operational parts would be more enjoyable?

@@MikeMac89 Your videos are great and I love hearing the sprinkler operation as it is part my being mesmerized as I watch the sprinkler. For me it is like getting lost. I cannot explain it as the impact sprinkler has taken my focus from the time I was like 3 or 4 years old. It is a kind of a hypnosis for me and I get lost in it. I am looking forward to the next one just as I am looking forward to making my next one. Thank you.
