I came back to watch this scene to see if it was as sad and painful as when I first saw it.... It is.

January 2, 2000 0:23 That was years ago. Back when my brother and I were living in a house by a river. It was before my cousin show up. Wait a second. Fry's mom and dad would be old by now

Seymour was such a good dog. Men do cry. We do have feelings and this is the one that gets us.

People compare this to Hachi, but due to the "Lars" incident, I'd argue it's a lot closer to Argo from the Odyssey, who waited 20 years only to die after meeting his believed dead master in disguise

Well I suppose the good thing is in the end Seymour was able to reunite with a cloned Fry and live out the rest of his days not being alone

I wonder if Fry's parents tried to take Seymour back to the house and take care of him properly, and he just wouldn't stay. There was a dog like that in real life, nicknamed Kostya ("Faithful"), who spent years waiting at the roadside near the site of the car accident that killed his owner. "People built doghouses for him and some tried to adopt him into their homes, but no such attempt succeeded: the dog always came back, looking for his master, nor would he stay in the shelters; all he would take from the people was food. In the snow and rain, in any weather and time of year, he was always in his spot."

As of the time this video was posted, fry’s dog would have still been alive and waiting, since he died 12 years after 2000 and this was posted in 2010

The real story behind Seymour and Fry in "Futurama" is heartbreaking and deeply moving. Seymour, Fry's loyal dog, waits patiently on the same corner day after day, year after year, for Fry to return, unaware that Fry has been cryogenically frozen and sent to the future. Each day, Seymour sits, his unwavering loyalty and love standing strong despite the passage of time. Years pass, the world changes, but Seymour never loses hope. Eventually, Seymour dies of old age, having waited his whole life for Fry. This episode captures the essence of canine loyalty and the pain of lost time. It's a touching testament to the unconditional love and eternal hope that only a pet can offer. It's a powerful reminder of the special bond we share with our pets and the lasting impact they have on our lives. 🐾💔

If a dog really loves you, they never forget you. Just like everyone else, they go on with life, sure. But, they do not forget the ones they truly love, I can tell you that.
