Bender's Big Score is my favorite Futurama movie except for the Seymour retcon. I'm torn about it. From a narrative aspect if feels like undoing the end of Jurassic Bark. I can (and regularly do) go back and watch and tear up over the original, but the retcon goes against the lesson our OP here learned about endings, but also I get to see a dog be happy and not suffer through loneliness for 12 years. They are different timelines though, I guess, so there could still be one where the original events of JB still played out.

This scene hits hard when you are just alone but boy does it hit harder when you've lost all four of your dogs in two years. Old age got Gwen and Belle at 13 and 14 respectively, a freak accident got Uno at nine and Drakey died recently (as in last weekend) of old age at 12 as well and I miss them all more than I could ever describe. I had Gwen and Belle from the time they were six months and they were the absolute worst farm dogs you could find but they were the perfect companions and their offspring proved to be the same. Uno was a one eyed menace. You just couldn't keep her in a yard, a house or a vets officer without her making an escape then bounding back to dare you to chase her. A skill she got from her brother Drakey, who managed to escape the kennel and venture into the farm as soon as he could walk and we had a hell of time tracking him down. He would try his best to drive anything he could: Kids, cattle, puppies or you up a fucking wall trying to get him to listen. I miss my little shitheads.

A close friend of mine rehomed his dog without telling me and I immediately thought about this and cried. I'm not exactly sure why he did it and it's really bringing me down. I loved that dog and would watch him whenever they asked. During the pandemic, we all lived in the same building and were the only people we saw for months. We hung out every day and went on long walks while working from home. I had bad experiences with dogs as a kid, still loved them just didn't think they were for me, but after holding this one in my lap for an hours-long car ride while he was a puppy I knew I'd get one. Ended up with his younger brother. I've saved every pic I have with him in a folder so I don't lose them. I hope he's happy, I never got to say goodbye.

I binged the first 7 seasons of Futurama a year or so ago, and I picked it up again last week, and when I had watched the last 3 seasons, I started over, and the only episode I could remember from my bingewatch was this one, and the one where fry has something to do whales in the past, where he gets to live with Seymour.
