Rolex might be in a league of its own when it comes to marketing and resale value but Breitling produces the best-looking and best-finished watches in this class. Omegas are classics but in my opinion they look rather dated - their designs just don't have the timeless appeal of the Navitimer or the Daytona.

thank you for the very nice video- - i want to buy speedmaster but which one - - i dont know spphire or hesalte ?

Hesalite is more original (if that interests you) and does not shatter (like sapphire) but is also less scratch resistant than sapphire. Of course the sapphire one has an open caseback and is more expensive
@georgcantor88597 күн бұрын
If you're into getting a close to the moon watch then hessalite; less scratches then sapphire.

I think this line is probably the best looking of all the Breitling watches. Not sure why they won't go with the Sellita SW-300 instead, but I guess the SW-200 is fine too.
@Loris95814 күн бұрын
look, the Steinhart also exists in 42mm and in terms of taste it has nothing to envy of the much more expensive and famous Rolex, it is certainly not a tribute and it is right that it is different, personally I like it even more than the Rolex and I don't let the name of the brand suffer

I was given a copy of Mr Silvers Rolex book . However for some reason there are no Rolex Watch model nos listed beside the watch pictures, so that makes the whole book a waste of what could have been a wonderful reference book. I have collected Rolex watches for over 50 years and have found that so called experts, if shown a vintage say Rolex Submariner would all give different opinions ie wrong hands, not original face, changed bezel etc these original watches were made as ‘tool’ watches ie for divers or workers who needed a robust, waterproof watch. They were assembled by different watch makers and were therefore sometimes quite individual. For example the model 6536 Submariner was probably the most diverse model you could get. There were so many variations, no one knows how many varieties, so even the so called experts are not aware of the differences.

I am still wearing my Omega Speedmaster automatic reduced which I purchase back in in 1992. Although over the years I have received several updated quartz watches on different occasions I still prefer to wear my Omega Speedmaster

Great woman’s watch. The regular speedy wears small enough for a man’s wrist. But that thickness is too thick for a 38mm watch.
@TheWatchScientistsАй бұрын
No such thing just based on size. I wish people would stop thinking black and white in this way. Men were wearing 33mm watches in the 20th century, so why would a 38mm watch be a women’s watch now?

Great review... and couldn't agree more. My only recommendation, given the detailed watch face and bright colors, is to change out the bland oyster bracelet for the jubilee; looks so much better! I own two OOP Steinhart models, this one and the amazingly beautiful Aviation Dual-time, both of which are NOT homage models but instead original designs. It's a shame both are no longer in production given they are original designs and effectively counter the common charge that Steinhart is just a homage watch company. The Premium GMT 500 is absolutely perfect as a rather sophisticated and strikingly beautiful sports watch just as appropriate wearing in the boardroom as on the beach... deep underwater. This watch is a head-turner given its above-the-herd unique styling, bright color combination and crisp detailing. I know I'll never sell mine!

@KheminАй бұрын
I am also a very proud owner of this wonderful now-OOP GMT 500 Premium... w/ the ETA rather than the SW movement. I now own four Steinharts (I just purchased a 39mm Ocean Vintage Red) and remain so impressed with the brand's quality, fit and finish. Thanks for this video and your review; I agree with all you say here of this model and Steinhart, in general. And so agree that this watch in particular proves just how good Steinhart is at producing original designs, not just homage watches. Frankly, I wish Steinhart did more original designs... and then kept them in production longer. So sad to see such superlative original designs go out of production so quickly.

I managed an Omega boutique the last three years and currently manage the new concept Breitling boutique. The Navitimer, the Premier, and the Chronomat/Super Chronomat all in B01 are fully on par with any flagship Omega, I'd almost argue even better finished. The Superocean Heritage with the Tudor based movement are phenomenal but I would agree they land between Omega and Tudor. For Omega, yes the co-axial and METAS tech is impressive, and I love my Planet Ocean chrono, but the BO1 is an absolute beast of its own and well respected from a watchmakers POV. The Premier is more elegant and premium feeling than anything Omega has to offer in that segment, even the updated Constellation and Deville. The Chronomat dials are more intricate than any Seamaster dials (apart from the AT Worldtimer), and a huge plus to Breitling is the servicing times here in Canada as well as the fact that they fully refinish titanium watches during a service (Omega/Swatchgroup do not refinish titanium).
@TheWatchScientistsАй бұрын
Yeah I agree, especially on the Premier vs Omega point, Omega has nothing in that segment that comes close to the Premier

So lug to lug 48mm for 17cm wrist is big enough to look off?
@TheWatchScientistsАй бұрын
Sounds quite big. I have a 18cm wrist and 45mm would be my maximum. However it depends of course on what you like and the shape of your wrist etc

@alexanderj.w.8854Ай бұрын
Breitling has gained many new customers with the new orientation, but also many critics, because they are no longer real toolwatches, especially on the Navitimer, why is this great 3 dimosonal blade exchanged for a hard-to-read one, just because it is Modern Retro. The only watch line that succeeds is the Super Chronomat. I would like Breitling to build real instrument watches again and not pool diving watches ala Superocean. I switched to Omega.

I actually really enjoy my Baltany 1963 (the 1016 homage). It has the aged lume along with the matte dial which is a killer combo and this is coming from someone who has the Rolex Explorer (new one).
