Breitling finally did it! || Breitling Chronomat GMT

I felt the same, I started collecting a couple more years before you and did not look at Breitling for the same reason you mentioned. Its amazing how George Kern took over Breitling as CEO just about 5 years ago and rejuvenate the brand and doubled the sales! I was planning to get the Omega SMP but ended up with the new 42mm black Superocean with rubber strap. Although it lacks in the movement department compared to the SMP but the thinner profile and shorter lug to lug wears better. The micro adjustment on the clasp vs pin buckle seals the deal!

I don't like Breitling's use of AR coating on the outside of the crystal. It gives off that yucky AR hue, and will scratch up pretty badly over time. Keep it on the underside only.

I have heard that the outside coating picks up scratches, but it does give a nice non reflective look when it is coated on both sides

So they make smaller watches now is what you mean to say? I look back at the designs of previous models, and aside from the premier line, I don’t see a major difference in design language, but somehow everyone keeps talking about this big rebirth of the brand. I love breitling and always have, I just don’t see the big dramatic change in the company everyone claims to have seen.

Thanks for commenting. Whilst it also took me a while to see differences especially in models like the Navitimer, I can say that the differences are small details that to me significantly change its appearance if you pay attention. The watches to me look cleaner. And the other part as I say is the sizes, new dials, and new models.

@@TheWatchScientists I think the array of new sizes definitely opened up the brand to people who wouldn't consider it before, which is great. I've got a giant wrist, which is probably why I've always been a fan of their watches. I do agree that their new designs are cleaner and more consistent, although I liked the previous superocean line more than the current one with the big inner minute track. I also liked the old wing logo more than the simple "B" they seem to be doing more and more. I don't miss the space-age bezel fonts they had on some of their watches.

​@@PepsiaddictoPut the new and old Navitimer side by side and its like it went thru a major update although its just small details and changes. I just got the new Superocean, although u like the older style but the lug to lug is just too long for me. The new SO at same 42mm but wears much better with curve down and shorter lug to lug. Breitling manage to make their new lineup wears better at the same diameter.

@@donaldneo4317 I have a 9" wrist. I have the Superocean 46 and it wears smaller on me than a 42 on most people. I'm glad Breitling is making smaller watches now, but there's still a need for the big ones.

I really like the New breitling collection. My favorit is the 43 mm. Navitimer with the ice blue dail. I am on a waiting list the purchase one. I can't wait.:)
