Ok. I really overreacted myself. So I offer my apologies as well. I have been to Alaska several times and have seen several placer operations. I understand the struggle to keep them going. It's a lot of work and every ounce of gold produced is well earned.

Grateful for the tips Chris. One question - will wet scoops still ping as I will be targeting in water along bedrock cracks
@ChrisRalph6 сағат бұрын
The target will still sound off on a metal detector even if the scoop is full of water.

It takes 1200 pounds of 7018 welding rod to hard face and rebuild the undercarriage on my D9 G every winter. I get 1200 hours of service out of a set of tracks ripping bdrk and frozen muck. Now I use an air track to drill and shoot. That’s what a real miner does.
@ChrisRalph14 сағат бұрын
I am guessing your D9 G is almost as old as I am. Real mines like here in Nevada run equipment that is less than 10 years old, not ancient junk. How many hundreds of rolls of duct tape do you consume in addition to that welding rod?

Have you ever done anything on Alberta Canada I would like to see that
@ChrisRalph18 сағат бұрын
Although Canada has produced a lot of gold, not much of that has come from Alberta - other locations have produced far more. Most gold in Alberta is found in the form of tiny flakes in river and glacial deposits. This gold is called placer gold, and it's usually found in the gravel bars of rivers and streams. The heaviest concentrations of placer gold are in the North Saskatchewan River near Edmonton. Other rivers with gold deposits include the Red Deer, McLeod, Athabasca, and Peace Rivers. Search on Google for more information.

As in El Paso resident, New Mexico is my go-to spot for prospecting. Right now I am pouring over the Pittsburgh placers in the Caballo lake area. I spent the last 3 days living out there in a tent, doing nothing but sampling with my UTV. Like you said, it seems that the gold comes from quartz veins in areas where schist makes contact with native granite. With that in mind, I am finding those areas using a geological map and focusing my sampling efforts on those contact zones. Do you think that's a good idea? Thanks!

Magnetic field is already there you’re not creating A field. There is a manual ground balance but not all of them have it. The button in the center that changes it from discriminate to all metals if you hold that down you can make your machine ground balance manually. Detecting nuggets are not easy and one of the biggest mistakes is trying to self teach. Gold monster it’s one of the less complicated gold machines there are they won’t find gold in the closet or in your backyard. This is one modern technology that is good for you and get you out in the great outdoors. You’re not gonna get rich. Gold can create Insanity. It’s called Gold fever and it is real kind a like being an alcoholic or drug attic.

This is not a simple question with a simple number answer. New guys with no experience ask it like the answer is going to be 7 or 9 or something like that. How deep will a metal detector can see is a complex question that depends on many factors like how big the target is, the size of the coil you are using, the mineralization of the soil, etc. To learn more, check out this video I did on the exact question of how deep your detector will go - kzbin.info/www/bejne/iXWWlIahms6eqtE
