My 17 yr old daughter has renal stage 5 kidney disease. She goes to dialysis 3 times a week. It is so hard on her. She's also a picky eater so it's hard to get her to eat which makes her tiny. Thank you for your advice.

@DADVICETVКүн бұрын
An MRI or CAT scan is unnecessary, your blood work tells the doctors so much about your current condition. If your estimated kidney function is around 5 to 7, then it is very likely time for dialysis. If your kidney function is higher, your doctors can see if medication can manage the issues they see from your blood work. Unfortunately, there can be risk factors that you’re not aware of, and getting on dialysis sooner is critical for saving. You have a heart to heart conversation with your doctor and they can explain why dialysis is needed now, or if there are other options.

great video more ammo for my mind; because last year I had to move and ended up waiting on my apt a lil over a month and ended up eating uncharacteristic meat, fried food and fried carbs along with my regular spices and drastically reduced water intake(I usually drink exactly 8 glasses a a day) at my new primary visit my urine protein was over 3 with normal creatinine and EGFR and I told her i'd just moved and i'd be back in exactly 90 days after moving in and getting my diet back on track in 90 days proteinuria was negative I knew it was just a one off due to severe dehydration from my spices with little water and added meat cold turkey i've had multiple tests since then to ensure it was surely just a one off and still no proteinuria, however, I do notice adding meat to my diet increases my creatinine a few tenths but it still stays under one. I see and hear about the whole carnivore diet thing I'D NEVER DO THAT! the weirdest thing is that after dialysis ya'll tell folks to go eat a high protein meal. i'm 4 5'9" 150 my Las just hit my portal my EGFR is 114 i'm gonna continue to eat to live and as I age implement the testing you said to there's so much our Doctors don't tell us about thse basic tests, for instance, they'll tell us about A1C and not HOMA-IR.

Can you reduce creatine levels
@DADVICETV3 күн бұрын
Creatine levels come from muscle. It’s important to understand that that’s not what you should focus on. If you’re in an accident, and your legs are amputated, you’ll have less muscle, and therefore less creatinine. But that will do absolutely nothing to help your kidneys, your doctors will just use a different more expensive test to estimate your kidney function. The best thing to do is to focus on living a heart, healthy lifestyle and keeping your blood pressure under control, and reducing any protein in your urine by working with your healthcare provider.

What are the chances of me recovering from ckd & how high can my gfr go up? Here's what happened to me: 21 mos ago My doctor saw i had a gfr of 50. He told me to drink 96 oz of water a day for a wk, take a blood test & get back to him. Blood test showed gfr dropped to 38 in 1 wk. I knew my dr was wrong. Immediately when to a nephrologist & demand immediate attention. Same day she sent me for Ultrasound. Days later it showed extremly enlarged prostate blocking my urine and it cause Hydronephrosis. After prostate surgery, 2 yrs later my gfr runs 58 to 64 at a high. In 2018 the doctor saw my gfr had dropped to gfr of 61. Shouldn't he have informed me then that I might have a kidney problem? 7:47

Not true - you need to advocate for yourself so that your doctor finds the right medication to reduce or even eliminate the protein in your urine. Trust me, it can be done if your doctor puts their mind to it. Reducing the protein in urine will greatly slow the progression of your kidney disease, giving you lots of hope.

The Ace and Arbs are two types of very common and affordable blood pressure medications. Your doctor would prescribed one or the other, not both types. These help with blood pressure, and can reduce the amount of protein in your urine, maybe even completely eliminate any protein leaking into your urine. For those with kidney disease ,an ace or an arb should be the very first prescription A doctor makes. If you look at your current prescriptions and any of them end in PRIL or TAN, then you have an ace or an arb.

This was getting too confusing for me due to my anxiety, depression & PTSD. Too often I would hear numbers, but was not clear on when the doctor is speaking about test results or people’s age. 😞 Specifying when he is speaking of age every time, that would help a lot.

We'll see if we can improve on that in the future, especially when he says "older". I feel like I fall into the older group, but I believe he means 60+

47:30 quoting Dr. Rosansky: "Don't fall for any of these things that says your diet is going to cure your kidneys. It's nonsense. You're on a healthy diet to prevent the things that if you have CKD are giving you a risk, like a heart attack, stroke, or congestive heart failure. So you're on a plant based diet, it's a heart healthy diet, it's not going to cure kidney disease, there is no diet that cures kidney disease, there's no supplements, there's no probiotics, no herbs." James: I wonder what your kidney dietician (frequent visitor on your show) has to say about that????

I got pretty good at reading blood test when I had leukemia. I got a new one every morning for 3 months. I've looked at family and friends blood test and nearly all are stage 3 probably because I'm 71 years old myself. They ask me if stage 3 is good or bad. I say pretty good but not great. Lol! I've been stage 3 for over a decade. Tons of chemo and antibiotics brought me from an eGFR of 85 to 60 and it's been the same now for 15 years. I had to have good kidneys and good everything else before the bone marrow transplant or they wouldn't do it. They ran me through test like an astronaut before I could get the transplant. It saves lives but does do damage. I enjoy all your videos. Great!
