Subject tracking only works if you're in auto area focus mode though. Unless I am missing something. I have my focus mode as single point or dynamic so even though I have set Fn2 as focus tracking it won't work.

I'm happy with the Z50 as a photographer's camera as it doesn't have bloody "flip to the side" LCD screen. Photographers prefer the tilt system with what the other Zed cameras use.

How are you? My z8 doesn't follow focus for video but not for photos. What setting will human follow focus work when taking pictures?

Thank you! I'm new to bird photography, and , if I understand correctly, function button & AF button need to be pressed to access 3d tracking. So, leaving my Z8 on a tripod, a few feet away from a bird perch, and remotely triggering it, there's no way to access 3d tracking, without the buttons being pushed, is there? Thanks again!

Hey so this is my second time trying to replace the flex cable on my z50 the first time I failed and damaged the cable….. but this time it’s was only a 50% change of success because when I did it again it worked clear as the sub! I no longer have the green death screen lol but IT UPSIDE DOWN! I took it apart and tried to figure out what was done wrong but I didn’t notice anything! So to sum up everything my question is ….. do you know what to do if the display screen is upside down ? And what cable to manipulate or fix?

I like the fact you can get a character filled cheap lens now in z mount. Ttartisans, youngno and viltrox have really made the z system much for fun and approachable.

another issue with screens I've encountered is if you are wearing polarized sunglasses. If I turn the camera to portrait orientation my screen turns black... I thought I broke something at first.... it's the polarized sunglasses.

HA,broken ones are going for almost $100 on Ebay. I was lucky just to FIND ONE at $150. But I must say,It's an IMPRESSIVE Camera

This year it's been to Japan and is currently en route to the border between France and Spain, on both occasions in the hand of my children. It's got a few knocks and a scratch, but in 12 or more years of being crammed into pockets, glove lockers, or just being held in the hand, that's good going. Best value for money camera I've ever bought, I remember, I bought it new. You say it spot on: bargain.

I can confirm that it works with the Tamron 90mm F2.8 SP Macro. The lens is not focusing with the Nikon FTZ II but does with the Viltrox NF-Z. Good job Viltrox.

I mount mine “upside down” like you do, too. Much more comfortable in the hand when shooting handheld.

Sorry I'm not sold on this device. I found most if you video has movement in it. The stills can all be taken handheld I think. I think I have this already in my bag already. I have a monopod already. I have a ball head already. The difference is if I use my setup I can let go of the camera and it won't fall to the ground. I also don't envy your back! You are bent over a lot. That gonna hurt after a while. My setup for motosports and wildlife is the panasonic g9 with the 100 to 400 lens. That's 200 to a whopping 800 in full frame. The ibis on the camera and lens means I can hand hold shots of the moon. And even video clips aren't bad. My advice is use what you have already. At 80 pounds uk this isn't cheap! I guarantee it will spend more time at home or in the bottom of the bag. A good sign that this isn't any good is that the Chinese haven't made a copy version of this yet! Thanks for the video but I don't recommend this gadget!

It looked like a good idea to me since I was hike with a monopod as a hiking staff. I normally shoot “handheld”, but as I also sometimes need the extra stability of mounting the camera on the monopod (or tripod). My Speedigimbal arrived a few days ago and I really like it. It is very fast to mount my camera to the tripod and get the extra stability I need. It is certainly a lot faster than mounting the camera onto a Arca Swiss. I’ve never been comfortable with mounting an expensive camera to any mount without a safety strap…”just in case” ! After using it for a dozen or so hours I think it is A+ and a big help if you are on the move…and decide you need some extra stability. FYI… I use the Peak Designs wrist strap as my “safety strap” as I carry my camera in my hand.

What about with an f mount lens

Great little camera which i use myself. The only thing i dislike about it is the 25/50fps Videomodes in the European version. I would prefer 30fps /(or 60) ... Maybe anyone know if there is a secret way to switch over to 30fps?

I use a video head and don’t have a problem putting the camera on and off it at all. I have an Arca Swiss clamp permanently attached to the video head plate and it is quicker and less complicated to attach my camera to the clamp than what you demonstrated by having to attach two pieces, one to the monopod and one to the lens foot. I can take my camera off quickly should I need to. I like to be able to rest my arms when in the field and I’m able to without having to put the camera on the ground.

What a bargain camera, superb images. I've had one since they were released, it's been my prime camera ever since. I've added your channel, hopefully you'll connect with another retro camera photographer 📸
