I can't decide between Michelin X-ice Snow and Michelin Pilot Alpin 5. We do not have much snow here in Missouri, but a lot of freezing rain, ice and 10 to 15 snowy days in the winter. I am going with a separate set of 20-inch wheels with 255 45 20 winters, can't go with smaller wheels cos the brake disks and calipers are massive on this SAV. Also, downsizing from my OEM 21-inch wheel with Summer performance tires.

Wow, hurry up and wear that engine out! The auto companies WANT the high mile oil change intervals so you can have engine trouble and have to buy another vehicle. The oil in my 2019 Passport with 68000 miles and 4000 miles on the oil was dark brown account more idle time in hot weather so got the oil changed. The oil reminder rarely gets below 40% for me. I rather buy oil and filters than an engine!

I have an Odyssey (205,000mi) and an Accord (234,000mi) that I have been changing the oil on at ~5% since new. I will have the latest oil analysis for those up soon. Also, I have the oil sample from the oil change I did on the Pilot @20,000mi out for analysis and should have the results back soon.

Important to know how the pilot is driven and envienvironment. For example, always driven 50 miles (fully warmed) in 70 degrees. If you drive 4 miles in below zero, then that is severe service. Not telling us the use case makes the oil analysis useless.
@InsideBigJaysGarage12 күн бұрын
Thanks for the feedback, I will include that in the next analysis for the viewers. This car sees a 50/50 mix. Some days it goes on a 75 mi round trip commute. Some days it goes 3 miles to the school and back. In just about all cases it hits operating temp. Good call out.

@@InsideBigJaysGarage its very helpful and thanks for your efforts making this video. What are symptoms when you know its time for rebuild? My steering wheel makes humming noise when turning all the way to the left or all the way to the right. Changed the O-rings of the two hoses but that didn’t fix the noise. Is this time to do a rebuild?
@InsideBigJaysGarage20 күн бұрын
My issue was a bad fluid leak on the large o-ring on the seam of the case, where the back meets the front. How is your fluid level?
@Menorahsingh19 күн бұрын
@@InsideBigJaysGarage I see mild leakage on the pressure hose but not on the pump itself. I guess the hissing noise could be the hose leak and air in the system. I am gonna try replacing the hose and see if that fixes it then move on to pump later.

That is good, for Factory Fill (FF), and 10k miles. I like to drain it out early, at about 1k miles, for new FF oil, since all that "free-floating" junk (silicon, iron, copper, aluminum) just keeps circulating, grinding down the internal surfaces a bit. Nothing too serious though, it is your choice how much you want to wear it down. You can pick a high-Moly motor oil to replace the FF oil (I used Toyota -branded 0w20 high-moly oil in my 2024 Honda CRV recently, to replace that Moly that Honda thinks is good to protect the piston skirts and I think ring wear during break-in). ..... ... Glad you changed the oil filter out this time instead of skipping that, avoiding any extra bypass-events due to a partially clogged old oil filter in cold weather starts. .... Pro-Tip: Valvoline came out with some new chemistry in their oil "Valvoline Restore and Protect" 0w-20 keeps the rings cleaner (Sequence IIIH WPD stuff). Blackened rings have never been attacked for actual cleaning before, this is new. kzbin.info/www/bejne/oarci3edncyXeas for the complete chemistry story from Lake Speed Jr.

Ok so ANY iron remover is gonna do the same thing, for the more tough spots use a clay bar in conjunction with the iron remover and you can remove every spot, but there is NO iron remover that will remove all of them by just dwelling and rinsing, you have to use a clay bar or synthethic clay towel for easiest removal, u can use a microfiber and scrub but clay bar is way easier.
