The level of detail in that video was amazing sir. Thank you for putting time in it.

Well the main part was installing the shaft bearing which was skipped assuming that people would know it. Not true. Those watching these videos would mostly be non-mechanic. Thanks for the video which is still very helpful!
@InsideBigJaysGarage6 ай бұрын
Sorry about that. My method is pretty unorthodox as I don’t have a press, and I didn’t want to put it out there because done incorrectly it can damage the shaft fast.

@@InsideBigJaysGarage its very helpful and thanks for your efforts making this video. What are symptoms when you know its time for rebuild? My steering wheel makes humming noise when turning all the way to the left or all the way to the right. Changed the O-rings of the two hoses but that didn’t fix the noise. Is this time to do a rebuild?
@InsideBigJaysGarage6 ай бұрын
My issue was a bad fluid leak on the large o-ring on the seam of the case, where the back meets the front. How is your fluid level?
@Menorahsingh5 ай бұрын
@@InsideBigJaysGarage I see mild leakage on the pressure hose but not on the pump itself. I guess the hissing noise could be the hose leak and air in the system. I am gonna try replacing the hose and see if that fixes it then move on to pump later.
@johnronkainen9445Ай бұрын
@@Menorahsingh If your pump only makes noise when you're at full lock (all the way to the right or the left), that's normal. At that point, you've hit max pressure in the power steering system, and the "humming" or hissing is from the fluid going over the relief valve since you've hit relief pressure. Completely normal, nothing to worry about. Now, if you had humming/whining when the steering is not at full lock, or in worse cases when the steering wheel isn't even being moved, that could indicate a leak in the suction hose or the inlet side of the pump itself that's allowing air into the pump and cavitating the pump. Pumps can tolerate a little cavitation, but too much cavitation will eventually wear the cam ring and/or vanes inside the pump, requiring the whole pump to be replaced. Honda doesn't sell the cam rings or vanes separately from the overall pump, from what I can see.

Mines not leaking but its screaming like crazy. Should I just replace it, or would a rebuild fix that??
@InsideBigJaysGarage16 күн бұрын
If the screaming is coming from the bearing, a rebuild should fix that.

Thanks for showing this. Can you give is an update? Any leaks? And is this still available at my local dealer or did you source the parts somewhere else.
@InsideBigJaysGarage5 ай бұрын
You’re welcome. No leaks, every thing is sealed tight and working well. You can get the parts at the dealership if you like. I purchased them online at hondacarpartsdirect .com

Leaking at the case seam.

@@InsideBigJaysGarage ok thanks!! Mine is leaking from the case but also whining. I can’t tell if it’s internal or the bearing. No bubbles or aeration when whining in the fluid.

My apologies. There are two other videos that I know of out there that show how to do it. I press a lot of bearings at work so so in my world it’s not a big deal. I appreciate the feedback and will keep that in mind for future videos.
