I dont mean to disturb with the unrelated comment, but do you know the good methods of transferring a mini-dv tape to digital format? I have a Canon ZR900 and tried to use the fire wire to no avail as windows 10 just tells me its broken drivers or something.

kzbin.info/www/bejne/m2O0pWOohruFnsUsi=ZreH3qLDi1hJHH9U this channel has alot of information which may help! As far as drivers go it's hard to say, but most video editing software has Legacy support for the fire wire protocol.some of that is covered in the video I linked.

Now...there's more reason to watch this OVA. It's unrelated but the episode of a recent show called Ultraman Arc called 'Goodbye Rin' where one of the characters Rin met with an old mentor of hers whom she hasn't seen since high school, decided to investigate a leaker who is conducting prohibition of dead Kaiju cells. I'm pretty sure you know where this is heading. Please go check out that episode since it's a pretty good companion piece to this OVA as it shares the same themes and such.

What are your thoughts on modern anime? The state of the industry and the direction its headed in?
@The_Smuggler_
@The_Smuggler_ Ай бұрын
If I had to speak on my recent experience with just modern anime, I quite enjoy it. I've been a seasonal watcher for more than a decade now but I find myself pleasantly surprised by at least a few shows each season. The industry and where its headed however is quite concerning, the consolidation of online anime distribution by Sony presents some issues. Given Sony's tendency to censor or exert creative control on video game developers it will be interesting to see if their company policies end up effecting which shows are licensed for foreign release. The lack of competition in the distribution market will likely result in lower wages and poorer working conditions for people in the industry both in Japan and abroad. Crunchyroll paying translators $50 per episode is a good recent example, although in some cases they would just steal subtitles from fansubbers when necessary. This is despite the fact that Crunchyroll at one point was a pirate anime website. It's interesting that Crunchyroll finally killed its comment section recently, while on the surface it was the result of offensive comments on a Yaoi show, Crunchyroll for the last 2 years has been restructuring its site and gutting its social features, forums and profile sections. This was shortly after they finally got rid of JavaScript in the site and switched over to an HTML5 video player. Some people have speculated the shutdown of comments was because they didn't want to pay moderators. But I think it was already being phased out as part of a larger plan by Sony to clean up the site and make it a more controlled, family friendly user experience. The offensive comments were just an easy excuse to execute the change. Notice that none of the large anime youtubers have commented on this fairly large change to the largest anime streaming site. It was likely they were told not to comment, or didn't want to since they are monetarily tied to Crunchyroll's credibility as a platform. If a major anituber was sponsored by a competitor like Funimation circa 2015 I imagine a change like that would have seen more public backlash, although this climate is the result of a monopoly and it will very likely get worse over the next few years. anime has always been "art as a commodity", made by for profit production committees, but moving forward the artistic merit of a work will be judged twofold. First by its appeal to certain demographics and second, against it's alignment with large corporate sensibilities. I will probably still watch this anime anyways though, because that is what I do, its what I have always done, but I fear for the future generations as they will experience this coming dark age without the benefit of hindsight. I think for anyone involved in the industry its dark skies ahead indeed. However in the next 10 or 20 years changing economic and political situations could result in the kinds of competitive creative markets we had in the 90s and early 2000s which resulted in the abundance of anime we enjoy today. Only time will tell.

@@The_Smuggler_ Good take! I'm pretty pessimistic about the industry as a whole and am saddened to see that anime is embracing western trends and ideas, becoming less "japanese". I also feel that recent anime have started to feel too "anime" and are starting to become borderline caricatures or parodies of the medium. I wonder if what Miyazaki said was correct? That newer directors being otakus can never create grand art since all the know is anime, and they;'ve never experienced life to fully tell a good anime...

The other issue was this was pre-internet, though there WERE fans on GENIE, and some message boards. This made sourcing scripts (and help) very dificult, and also tended to set what you COULD and COULDN'T work on. Sometimes, you bought a disc, cause you HAD a script. Sometimes you did a show, because someone had a a disc and script (the "Dragon Knight" factor). I wrote the scripts on some pretty well known 80s works. But The biggest chunk was 22 episodes of Maison Ikkoku (AND the final movie). MI will make you work, everything has to mean 3 different things to 3 different people (and this was when no one knew what "Sempai" meant. Our systems were quite puny. I ran on an Amiga 1000 with 1.5 megs of memory (I brought that up with a panel of old-timers, they were shocked I had that much, the audience by how little that was). Linier editing of scripts was a pain, but the true hell was doing an AMV "mosiac- style" linearly with a VCR with flying erase head. Who knows, a few of my works may be floating around in old collections (I have pro credits that cycle into print once in a while.. I don't feel forgotten). Maybe somebody stole one my riffs (like ADV did when they used the MZ 23 gag for their Dirty Pair OVA scratch track..

This is amazing, thank you so much for all of your effort! I had the opening song on a set of misc. anime soundtrack CDs in the 90s, and have loved it ever since then. The only clue I had was that its file name was "19.mp2" in a folder called, "19" and after so much digging, plus the sudden love for City Pop in recent years, I came across this amazing rip. We are so spoiled, thank you again.
