Did this to avoid youtube compression, for the best possible viewing experience download my encode from The Internet Archive, Here: archive.org/details/nineteen-19-1990 Oh boy, it took a while to track down the LaserDisc for this anime but I think it was worth it. I learned a lot in the last 9 months, so thanks to some encoding wizardry all of the issues present in the previous versions have been "solved". Was able to get a clean rip so the audio is much nicer and I didn't need to resort to color correction to get things looking good. all in all the low-light details come through a lot nicer! Would've liked to keep it 480p but youtube kills video that's under 720 for whatever reason. Don't forget to leave a like n to subscribe if you want to see more of this stuff. In any case, for now, this is as close as it gets to a Bluray n I hope future generations can enjoy this banger OVA. Cheers!

Now...there's more reason to watch this OVA. It's unrelated but the episode of a recent show called Ultraman Arc called 'Goodbye Rin' where one of the characters Rin met with an old mentor of hers whom she hasn't seen since high school, decided to investigate a leaker who is conducting prohibition of dead Kaiju cells. I'm pretty sure you know where this is heading. Please go check out that episode since it's a pretty good companion piece to this OVA as it shares the same themes and such.

The blacks seem crushed in the waiter uniform at the beginning? Japanese LDs use NTSC_M_J rather than NTSC_M, so the black levels aren't the same as US discs. America uses 7.5 IRE, Japan 0 IRE. I *just* captured a bunch of my old anime LDs and then had to redo them when I found out why they looked too dark. You'll notice the difference.

I've become aware of this since posting this and have updated my capture settings. Although I think KZbins compression might be inducing some color banding or doing a color space conversion, which doesn't do it any favors. There is a version on the internet archive which is less compressed might be better. I've started ordering the equipment for a domesday machine and will redo this capture at some point in the future.
