At this time, the recently acquired SF SD45'S were just showing up during this visit. They csn be found roaming the system still in pristine blue & yellow mixed with WC'S maroon & gold, EX-BN green, & recent new visitor to dairy land CSX future 1990.

I don't know how many they had, but every, single one of those classic beauties should have been saved. There wont be any like them again. I think there are around 50 E units around the country that have been preserved. Don't know the exact number.

Man these things were gorgeous. I wish one could be preserved by PRLX, but I think they've all already been scrapped.
@Slim_Slid7 ай бұрын
There was 51 SD75M's ordered by the ATSF,25 of the units became BNSF because of the merge making interuption to the original orders.7 SD75M's were acquired by Norfolk Southern from BNSF in later years and those units most likely will be scrapped because PRLX has them in storage.Some of the SD75M's have been rebuilt as SD75MAX's for BNSF,just like the SD70MAC's as SD70MACE's,but alot of the units are in storage.On top of that,BNSF owns 26 SD75I's.

Most or all footage of Chicago Central trains I've seen, the trains have several locomotives. Does anyone know why they used so many locos? I'm guessing maybe they need extra power to pull outa the Mississippi Valley?
@jeffnorbert18712 жыл бұрын
Red locomotive to orange locomotive...."what do you identify as"? Orange..."Milwaukee Road". "You"? "SOO". Orange...."who painted you red"? Red...."I don't know. Woke up one morning and I was all red". Orange..."oh, sorry, bro".

And the Milwaukee Road had an east/west branch line near the Sturtevant station. East all the way to downtown Racine with a 2 stall engine house next to the Root River. West out to Burlington and maybe beyond. A variety of switch engines were used on that branch over the years. You never knew what would turn up. Once saw an EMD derailed at the Memorial Drive crossing. Most of the east end is now a bike trail. At one point my bedroom was right next to the tracks at Deane Blvd. Sure miss the Milwaukee Road and CNW. CNW had a double track main all the way through the City of Racine and they also had a 2 stall engine house at the southeast corner of Dekoven Ave and South Memorial Dr. As with Milw. they used a variety of old switchers to do local freight. Late in the game Milwaukee was using a high hood Geep most of the time locally. In the early/middle 70s you would occasionally see an old F unit mixed in with newer power on the CNW main. Those were the days!

Great video!!! The passing trains at end AWESOME! As a retired CNW locomotive guy….I do not miss those winters in Wisconsin! I lived in MtPleasant very near to Sturtevant … correct me if I’m-wrong but I believe they saved and moved the old depot which was another great catch on you video. Now live in Arizona….but was a nice ride down memory lane 👍👍😎

I remember those sprint intermodal trains. I'm correct this is sprint intermodal train number 423 at 8:30pm when I was out in Sturavant with rail fan buddy's. Train screams by at 65 miles and hour.
