I don’t like the black floor with light grout in kitchen. Tumbled bluestone? It looks beautiful on fireplace. Very nice “dirty kitchen “. Lmao the dogs in laundry scratching door. I love , love the outdoor tub. Nice pool house except the urinal. I just can’t handle a urinal . A gym is a must have. I put mine in our new build in 2001 and still use it almost every day. I did use a commercial carpet because I got a sample of the rubber gym floor tile and the smell was disgusting. Great house.

What color of grout did you use with the pink girls shower?

I'm curious how important it is for an interior designer's personal aesthetic to match the firm they're interviewing at - for example, if one personally strongly dislikes beachy aesthetics, but the firm primarily designs vacation beach homes. This might be my situation since I'm moving somewhere seaside and would like to avoid commuting to large cities. Thank you!

I was waiting for more on wall treatments, you mentioned it briefly but I’d love to know your true opinions on that. I refuse to do them and notice a lot of homes in my area are selling with one wall accent with wood either shiplap, slats, herringbone, I cringe lol

Another beautiful project! I prefer the walkthru format over still photos, it feels more like a show. If you are not able to make it to the location it would be better for a videographer to film the tour without anyone in it and then you can add your commentary like you did here ☺

I like polished chrome. I have a transitional home that leans very modern in much of the design and accents. I have warm wood cabinets and some unlaquered brass pendants, along with greys, marble and ocean blue. I love mixing warm and cool and was planning modern chrome cabinet hardware. I feel polished nickel may not Balance out the warmth. Is polished nickel really that bad?

As a contractor, the amount of “HGTV knowledge” I have to help people unlearn just to be able to do my job in a realistic setting is crazy. A high end master bath will never cost $10,000. Maybe if you add up deposits for material orders by themselves…..🤣🤣🤣 Aside from that, I’m definitely guilty of a couple of these in my own home at this very moment, yet I completely agree

I found this really helpful. I think it’s more of a design mistakes to avoid if anything - would be good to have a series on how to avoid the common mistakes (particularly bathrooms as I have the metal thing you were talking about).

My biggest design hate is brown on brown on brown on brown on brown. There is nothing more depressing. Especially in Arizona where everything outside is brown on brown.

I can guarantee that most cringe design styles have all come from HGTV. Specifically the property bros. They are horrible.

I agree with pretty much everything. That said, can I add a few: vinyl plank flooring, vinyl siding, outdoor floodlights, randomly placed exterior stone veneer-this last gripe has a big exception, and that is when it’s used to cover a cement foundation. Most of the time, however, it’s used as some sort of weird decorative exterior trim. Not attractive.
