The Quickconnect ID is used as an address, like a website address. You only need one address to reach your NAS. You will also create users that will connect with a username and password, many users can connect at the same time.

Technically this video wasn't about a power supply repair per se (just a swap). 🤔😕😳 But it would be like fun to see a disassembly guide at least on that detachable power supply unit though. To see like if anything in there is burnt or just a simple diagnostic overlook (whether like a mosfet blew or an internal fuse or something). 🤔😏🙄

I see that you are not installing NVMe SSD in your setup. Could these be installed later and upgrade without having to rebuild the drives? I'm thinking about either buying them now or later.
@clearontech6 ай бұрын
Yes you can add them later, assuming you will use them as cache storage, this is the only way I use them. You can use them to create a storage pool, however you can't install the DMS on them, they are not hot swappable and will not mix with other drives in a storage pool. See this link for additional details: kb.synology.com/en-us/DSM/tutorial/Which_models_support_M_2_SSD_storage_pool

Can you hook up an Equalizer to this unit? I have a Realistic equalizer I've used for years id like to hook up to it.
@clearontech6 ай бұрын
You just took me way back.... my first job was at Radio Shack! I don't think this would work for you or at least the way you would want. For that kind of a setup, I would recommend getting an amp with a Pre-Out (that you would connect to the EQ) and then the Out from the EQ to the amp Main Input where it then gets amplified. However, these Pre-Outs are hard to find in lower cost newer items like this. You could however connect just one component (CD, Phono, Tape, etc) to the EQ then connect the EQ to one of the inputs. This would only allow the EQ to function for this one component though.

Thank you for this clear explanation. Appreciate it. Would you be able to tell me why you chose 'RAID 1' instead of 'SHR' (which seems to offer similar fault tolerance)?
@clearontech7 ай бұрын
@Xtapolapaketl You could use either one as they will function in similar ways. The SHR will give you more options to expand, like moving to a NAS with more drive bays. However, RAID 1 is pretty standard and if you loose operation of your NAS (it dies) and you need quick access to your files, the RAID 1 would be easier as its not proprietary like SHR.

Absolutely the WORST customer service possible! DO NOT BUY FROM THE OFFICIAL STORE. I bought a flashlight from the official Chinese based website and I never received it. I contacted Customer Support THREE times before I received a reply from Ken. Ken said that the order was completed....so I asked for proof of delivery or attempted delivery. Ken sent me a screenshot from the delivery company which stated that it was delivered but no proof like a photo of the package at my apartment complex or a person who it was delivered to. The delivery company did not even attempt to contact me and I actually believe that the item was never sent. Ken now refuses to reply to my most recent few emails. For a large company like this, they will not satisfy a customer like me by sending (or re-sending if that is the case) a $30 flashlight....disgusting !!

Regarding STR-DH190: Here's what needs to be fixed or is lacking: 1./ please replace those cheap/flimsy speaker out terminals in the back. 2./ lack of a (24/192Khz) capable DAC (USB-A female) input port in the front, for playing mp3/flac/DSD/wav/... files from portable USB storage devices, with a random/shuffle playback feature controlled from the Remote. If Sony would fix and add 1./ and 2./ above I'd gladly pay $100 extra for this bad boy. (and, I couldn't care less about BooTooth).

Odd question, but does either the original PSU or the replacement have an integrated LED anywhere? The troubleshooting guide for Synology indicates you can determine if the PSU is bad by verifying whether its LED indicator (n.b., not the blue indicator light of the Synology integrated into its power button) is illuminated, flashing, or dark. But I don't believe there is even an LED in these PSUs?
@clearontech Жыл бұрын
I don't recall seeing any LED's on any of the power supplies. Since these are not manufactured by Synology, it may have existed on a PSU at some point in the past and it's just still in some documentation you found?

Hi, thanks for the video! Were you getting any signs that the power supply was failing? Mine will start, but then it just shuts down within an hour or 2, and when I start it back up, I get the "improperly shutdown" message. It did this several times a few months ago, and just started doing it again after being on for a month or so. Did you experience anything like this?
@clearontech Жыл бұрын
Yes, this is similar. There has also been an issue with some older models (2014-15 I think) where the processor was the issue. However both processor and power supply would result in the "improperly shutdown" message. You could give the power supply a try.
@f33d13ack Жыл бұрын
I got it fixed a couple weeks back, it turned out to be the BC847 transistor. A few years ago my unit was faulty, and stopped working, so it was replaced under warranty with a another unit that I believe had the fix for the CPU bug as it already came with a resistor, and probably a newer power supply. So I only replaced the transistor and cmos battery. So far it's been working with no hiccups. Fingers still crossed though.

@@f33d13ack Oh, that's great! glad to hear you were able to resolve it. I have not had to replace any transistors yet, but with three 2015 models still running, if any of them die on me, I'm just getting a new one!

I don' t have a Fosi to compare it with. However, for the intended use, this is a better choice as it's a direct replacement for a component amplifier. Almost an identical unit to my DS3615xs. Not much has changed in seven years. Too bad you need to give up the PCIe slot to either M.2 cache or 10G network (or both). I have a 25G card in my system, though two drive bays are occupied by a pair of 1TB SATA SSDs for cache. What happens when your M.2 drives reach end of life (in my experience, 2-3 years)? Do you have to reuse the thermal pads and rubber insulators on the new M.2 sticks? My unit has WD 12TB drives in it. The next NAS, some time next year, will feature bigger, as I am running low on space now. I'll probably go WD again. Likely factory recertified drives. Best of luck with the NAS. Use it well!
@clearontech Жыл бұрын
They have kept the same chassis for a while and only upgraded the internal components in most units. I think we will start to see them with dedicated slots for M.2 soon, other models have them already. I have not tried to reuse the thermal pads yet, but there are extras in the box. Things may be changing on the HD front as well with some newer and high end units only working with Synology drives. This is a problem due to the cost, however, I think it's an effort to support the entire system vs. finger pointing between Synology and Drive Vendors when something goes wrong.

@clearontech5 ай бұрын
@abdullah9007ify From what I have seen with this model Land Cruiser (200 series) there is no way to change the LED lamps. The entire headlamp assembly needs to be replaced. However, before doing this, I would take it to a reputable shop as its most likely a fuse or a relay. LED's last a very long time. If both left and right low beams are out, I would say it's definitely something other than the lamp. Let me know what you discover.
