But when I watch your clips of you on your Evo Bro... You breaking me away from the Rob Machado Fan Boy Club & how we all hope to surf like him, with GRACE! Especially US goofy footers! Only to find ourselves not surfing like him and leaves us BLAMING "OURSELVES" AND SOMETIMES, "NOT" THE BOARD. I'm tired of giving my thousands and thousands of dollars to Rob Machado & his family clan already. That's why I put my 5’2” Machadocado up for sale after watching your Video Clip COMPARISON. I Love Your NOT A SALES MEN. But just a normal local ripper. Letting your surfing steer us in the right direction with you surfing average waves that we typically surf most days out of the year. Side Note: I traded my seaside my 5'5 for a 5'4" Tomo Revo I know it's not a grovler and I took it out on a crappy small ankle high day. Which I had no business taking it out. I should've busted out a longboard instead so I didn't get a really good feel for it but I did catch over 30 waves within the two hours l've been out. I did get lucky with two sneaky sets, rolling in at least chest high. And Bam the snaps and re-entries a Whatever I thought in my brain the board responded the way I wanted it to.. And you're 100% correct I think l'm going for the the brand new 5'4" in helium construction I know it's supposed to be better then the LFT but l'm hoping it doesn't work the opposite and very spot on the 5'3 looks like there's no dings watertight in LFT, but that white turned into brown as brown, could be. The 5'5" in helium is pretty hard to make out because of the pictures and it's taken in the shade and not in the sunlight and if I've been doing my homework right, it looks like an older TOMO graphic design, then TOMO latest graphic designs because I definitely been studying these boards within the past week like a hawk

I went on to dark arts website and I technically don't know what l'm doing. They give you the option of choosing your construction, which is carbon partially carbon and so far the size and dimensions is no problem. It's the construction part where they lose me. The fin box is no problem I would op for futures. And they also give you a color option which I probably would go with the standard black carbon, but then I also be worrying about the wax melting superfast all the time because I had black boards in the past even in the board bag it melts. By the time I got done with checkout from cart it looked to be pricey, roughly $1,500 because of the shipping to Hawaii so I got out of that screen as quick as I could hate pissing off my wife, which I already do most times Surfing does that at times so I might go with the 5'4" brand new in helium even at 29 L is way more than my volume range but l'm sure like you said I will definitely make it work specially for a grovler sometimes foam can be your friend

| 100% know this video wasn't intended to compare EVO vs mashup. It was me just being a brother this past weeks, watching your Clips time and time and countless time again to where I just had to give my honest productive criticism as a brother would look out for a brother, the same way you looking out for us in the Surfing community Young and Old. I totally agree with you about punishing ourselves when it's totally not us, sometimes it is, but it's only because we have high expectations and no our Surfing capabilities because we've been there before and how do one go backwards that just doesn't make sense and that's where frustration comes in because of the video clips we watch and when we try to put it into reality, it just doesn't lineup. where I can honestly say I'm guilty. My wife tells me time and time again. I'm extra hard on myself but you know when it works. It works when it doesn't. Somethings wrong and we have to try and solve the problem.

Nice surfing and review! I'd be keen to know how you sized for it? What is your weight/height and what length/volume EVO do you ride? thanks !
@surfingtipsandtricks9 күн бұрын
@robcampbell8383 Thank you🙏 That is a 5’6” 32.2L. It was the only one in the shop so I didnt have much choice. I'm 5’11” 78kg. It depends on how paddle-fit you are. I paddled it yesterday and wouldn't want it to be any thinner😂 but I am a little out of shape and only surf a couple of times a week @ the moment. When I was younger, I could ride little slippers with no problem. But from my experience with the Evo, you can ride it longer, and it will still be loose. If you are super fit and paddling a thin board isn't a problem, go smaller. The Helium construction seems more buoyant, so that's something to consider. Mine is an LFT. It's tricky to prioritise volume and length, eh? I ordered a Revo a few days ago and decided to go for the 5’7” 31.4L. After paddling the Evo yesterday, I am worried that I should have gotten the 5’8” 33L. So I'm hoping I can paddle it when it arrives 😂🤞🤙

For an average surfer weighing 77 kg and 174 cm tall What size board would you recommend?
@surfingtipsandtricks11 күн бұрын
I am 78kg, and I have the 5’8”. It paddles pretty well. What do you usually ride, litres? I think you could go up if you wanted to; it has nice rails, and the step tail makes the rail line nice and low through the tail. The 5’9” is 34.1L They have done an excellent job of hiding the foam in the board. You have to consider how much you surf and how paddle-fit you are. I'm not always paddle fit because I can't surf every day, so I have to have my boards a bit thicker than I would choose if I were super fit🤙

@@יוסףיוסף-נ8טIt's a similar plan shape to the Mashup; the Mashup looks slightly more high-performance. I think you will feel a difference in paddle power with the 5’8”, But if you want to feel a considerable difference, go for the 5’9”. It's nearly 3L more.🤙

nice flash review, I really like that you tried it as a pure Twin. I tried the one I have with larger fins but mistakenly used a trailer too, and it was dragging. visibly dragging. Thanks for the inspiration, I will try it this weekend. :) Cheers
@surfingtipsandtricks12 күн бұрын
Thanks 🙏, yeah, give it a go. Some find that it lights the board up for them. I was listening to a Tomo interview, and he talked about how a deep concave through the tail sits the board down in the water and acts like a back fin. He was talking about the Revo ( it has a different bottom shape, V and concaves), but the Cado has a deep double Concave running through it; it's the same principle, and if you stick a big trailer in the back, it may make the board stiff. I know how double concaves work, and they squirt speed. I shaped 200 boards and also glassed and sanded them back in the '90s and early 2000s, with no shaping machine and a lot of dust😂 ( I made a lot of fish/small wave boards for myself) but I honestly can't get any speed on this board, and I'm not sure why😂😅 I wonder if that is making the board slow. (maybe it would have been better as quad) I looked at my footage, and the board 5’6 is too big for me. A 5’2 would be the size, but it doesnt have enough volume. If you have the Machado 2+1, maybe try a small Trailer fin. That was my next option. The Machdo 2+1 without a back fin is the best fun I have had on it. I bought the Machado Keels. It just feels slow for me! Good luck at the weekend😀🤙

I was frothing to get the Mashup and then the Cado, which, with two sets of fins and grips, is a substantial amount of money as you know. Also, what size Spit were you on? For me, although I'm a thin guy, I surfed the 5'8 spitfire but now surf the 5'4 Mashup, they are 4L apart. One thing I particularly didn't like about the Evo was it felt like it pushed water when you first stood up, until after that first pump. Once you got it going though, very fast. Evo was ground breaking! I still have one that I surf occasionally and a 23 litre Evo that I use for Kitesurfing. The Evo is not a groveler. I find it best in shoulder to well overhead range. On the little Evo I regularly kite really big surf in really high wind. The design will deal with way more speed and power than what you get from surfing. Tomo's Modern Planning Hulls are the forerunners to so many boards on the market now that run a parallel rail line.

Currently I own the 5’2 Machadocado Helium , 5’5 SeaSide Volcanic, 5’2 Sweet Potato in Helium

Interesting. With the Machado 2+1, I find it a fight with the board. The other day, I tried it with just the set-up without the trailer fin, and that was fun but a little loose. I got the Machado keels a couple of days ago, and I surfed them yesterday, but the waves were terrible. Stoked you have hit the sweet spot 🤙 the Too Fish looks fun and cruzy. I really would like to surf that board and the Seaside🤙

That's a good question; mine is too big for me, but it was the only one. The 5’4 “ would have been better. It's a great paddler, and with the duckbill nose, it catches waves early. I like to catch lots of waves ( like everyone 😂), and I'm not surfing every day so that volume benefits me. I think if your paddle fit, you can go smaller. It depends on what your priority is. Even though mine is a little oversized, I can still throw it around. Thank you for the kind words and subscribing.🙏 let me know how the Evo goes for you🤙

@@surfingtipsandtricksGreat surfing Mike! How would you compare this Evo with your machadocado?
@surfingtipsandtricks18 күн бұрын
Thanks 🙏 I just bought some Machado twin fins to see how they go with the Cado. I'm reluctant to judge the board more until I have surfed some decent waves in it. I have been trying to surf it more like a Twin Fin for the last few surfs to change my approach. The Evo was an instant winner for me. I surfed it a few weeks ago and loved it instantly again. I'm a big fan of Rob Machado, and I feel I'm missing the point somehow. I will definitely put out some more content on the Cado when I have it 🙏🤙

Still fairly unexperienced on the topic, but my current daily driver is a 5'6 Sweet Potato. Worked out really well helping me in the transition from a 8'0 foamie and I just love this board as it allowed me to stay in the water no matter what. Now I started to feeling it a bit oversized and whenever I want to attack the face a bit more vertical I end up catching the nose because the nose is pretty wide (I think it is something like 22 inches wide). My next daily driver will be a SubXero by JS, in Carbotune: I got a 5'5, slightly under the 20 inches wide. It comes with 29 litres, which should be my correct "grovel" range. It will be challenging for sure having almost 10 litres less, but I just cannot wait to see how it will go. But the EVO will be my final goal: I loved the board from the first time I've seen one and I want to try it out myself so hard. I will consider getting the DarkArts version from Boardshop, those guys are great (already purchased from them). Thanks for this amazing video, watching an EVO flying around is always magical to me. Best!

Considering how junky those waves look, it looks like a fun board. You can only do so much in fat weak waves performance wise. Machado's boards seem to let you get the most out of those kinds of conditions and then the boards go unreal when you get some decent waves. I might have to get one.

@trestlesrocks24 күн бұрын
Just saw an interview with Rob and it sounds like he actually developed the board as a twin using his Keels and only last minute added the 2+1. I’m assuming as a marketing opportunity for those fins. Anyway, I went ahead and grabbed a set of his keels to test out. Haven’t tried them yet, but visually the area of those fins and the way they’re placed on the board when installed looks like an ideal complement to the tail shape and width. Will update if I get them out there soon.
@surfingtipsandtricks24 күн бұрын
Yes, the keels loosen up the board. Would love to know how Robs keels work with the board before I spend any more money 😂👍 I think that for me, the only way I'm really going to have fun with it is to surf it as a twin fin. I saw a new video with Kevin Schulz comparing the Too Fish with the Cado, and he was catching rails on the Cado ( 2+1 set-up). Granted, the waves were really hard to ride with a lot of backwash. He does one great layback! But the Too Fish is looking much more fluid🤙 kzbin.info/www/bejne/iniThIOcgtGgeMUsi=u-d8Am_fBHSHf0aK
@trestlesrocks23 күн бұрын
@@surfingtipsandtricks watching Schulz on a tiny 5’2 just further reinforces in my mind that I should’ve gotten the 5’6” instead of the 5’8”. With the width in that tail and the bottom contours I think the lift created would warrant running a bit lower volume than expected. I went up in volume with the 5’8” compared to my regular shortboard think “It’s a groveler, a little volume won’t hurt”. But I can’t help myself from wanting maximum responsiveness. Might get my hands on a 5’6” and compare before deciding which to keep.
@surfingtipsandtricks22 күн бұрын
Yes, I think that's true; for me, the 5’6 feels like a bit of a lump of a board and feels slow. Probably, the 5’4 would have been a better option. I still haven't surfed it in ideal waves, but I have surfed it in the sort of waves I surf a lot. It's great that you can change them🤙 I thought the comparison Kevin Schultz did with the Too Fish (high tide session) I thought he was catching rails on the Cado!
@trestlesrocks22 күн бұрын
@@surfingtipsandtricks based on the template, the 5’4” looks like the best fit for me, but it’s too thin. The dims going up the range are scaled oddly. 5’4” is an inch wider than the 5’2. 5’6” is barely wider than the 5’4”, but the 5’6” is actually thicker than the 5’8”. Yet the 5’8” is nearly 3/4” wider. 5’4 if it were 2 1/2-2 5/8 thick would be ideal

nice review , the Evo looks way faster and free in turns , Rob Machado makes all boards look fast , even the Glazer which I had and found it to be a pig to surf slowest board Ive ever surfed, it caught the wave early but wouldnt drop down them and lacked drive out of turns , it was like there was way too much going on in the bottom shape , with all the concaves and Vee off the side , made it suck onto the face.
@surfingtipsandtricks25 күн бұрын
I think you're right about the bottom shapes. The Mashup and the Cado feel like they have resistance and don't easily project down the line-particularly the Cado. “Suck into the Face” is spot on just surfed the Cado in 5-foot, fairly powerful waves, and it didnt feel great; I'm pretty disappointed, but I will have to keep going and hopefully master it. With deck grips and fins, it was 1k for each board🙁

But I was surprised by how slow I looked on it. Maybe it's the conditions that I have surfed it in so far 9 second wave period summer surf, not much wall.
