What a nasty mother-in-law!! In songs like this one, you always find they come to a sticky end. 😅 Great Breton tune. I remember hearing it first, sung by Alan Stivell in the 70s.

Last night as I lay dreaming of pleasant days gone by. My mind then bent on rambling to Ireland it did by. I stepped onboard a vision and I followed with a will til next I came to anchor at the cross on Spancil Hill!

This version is awesome and gives some good ideas for vocal harmonies. I do think it sticks too much in that minor tonic though. The original uses the major 6th and 7th in the second half for dramatic effect, and I think that is really important and also makes it feel less depressing

It can be interesting to train the singer to make the inhales less pronounced. It is not easy, but it will make the song better.

Interesting ARRANGEMENT of "Bedlam Boys", but the melody & bulk of the lyrics were composed & researched by "The Halliard" (Nic Jones, Dave Moran & Nigel Paterson), in the 1960s & are ©Mollie Music. The text was first published in Thomas D'Urfey's "Pills to Purge Melancholy" (1720).
