@@bayoutrapper It’s the softer material used for boot soles. I would usually buy western boots with 12 “ tops, then I would take them to the shoe repair shops and have them about 3/8” crepe souls on. Those souls act like a little cushioning for your feet, especially on the steel decks on offshore pipeline barges when you work 7/12s. Also some work boots already have crepe souls/ wedge soul boots. Folding the cuff to the inside allows air to get to your arteries and helps your blood stay cooler. I also starch my long sleeve dress shirts and I also fold the cuffs to the inside, unless I’m going somewhere that is more formal. Thank you!

yes, you are correct. realized it after it was posted . the second battery was grounded to the frame at the same location as the original negative cable, and the second batteries positive cable was attached with the original battery positive cable at the same location. THANK YOU NATE!

Some years ago when the mega cabs first came out ,I liked the design so I looked at one. I took all the bed measurements , went home and laid them out on the garage floor. At the time I had a full size 300-D welder. I thought it out, and measured, and measured some more. I just kept running into one space problem after another,so I let it go and bought another crew cab with the full 8ft bed. That brought back my peace of mind and rig functionality. I remembered some advice I was given by an older pipe fitter when I was in my middle 20’s. He said ,# 1 no tool is a bargain regardless of the price if it won’t get the job done , # 2 a tool may do a lot of things, but you don’t buy it for the many things, you buy it for the main thing you need it to do! Money is always a factor in any decision, sometimes you can only do what you can do ,but here is the point. Some purchases are relatively inexpensive , so if you make a mistake you just make a better purchase next time. But some purchases are so expensive you won’t be able to replace them without a lot of financial pain and regret. So my thought is this, to my knowledge the main reason for a mega cab truck is to have more interior space for passenger and just enough space in the bed for a goose neck or 5th wheel slider hitch, or a bumper pull travel trailer etc. The main reason is they were made was to accommodate passengers, not cargo. So , you need to figure out what the main thing is you need the vehicle to do for you. If you want to make a welding rig out of it, my experience would lead me to purchase a crew cab, 8 ft bed, with 4 wheel drive. Now the question comes up about do I buy a single wheel one ton or a dually one ton (3500). That depends on how much weight you will be moving around. The weight of the rig plus what kind of trailer you may or may not be pulling. The 2022 dually that I have the welder in now was originally bought to pull a new forest river/ riverstone 5th whl with 5 slides and 13.4 ft high, that weighed 20,000lbs. It has the high output Cummings engine , 4:10 rear, and Asian transmission. I bought it because I was planning to travel around the USA on a kind of on going basis and wanted the extra width and stability of rear duals. The truck and trailer are a perfect fit. The truck pulls that trailer so well, it’s easy to forget your towing something. But, having said that, the last pickup rig I bought was a 3500 ram single wheel/4whl drive with the larger wheels. Cummins high output, aisian trans ,but with a 3:42 rear. That was the only non dually I ever owned, and I grew to love it!! It would get 17mpg at 70 mph, it was easy to park, and could go through most car washes for 20.00 or less instead of the 50.00 hand wash for a dually. Also on muddy right of ways, duallys quickly turn into one big slick tire filling with chunks that will break off on the road or when spinning your tires in reverse and covering your mirrors. For that reason when I worked in Louisiana about half of the pickup rigs were single wheeled. I pulled a 30ft, 12,000 lb travel trailer with it as well, and it was fine. The newer high output engine with the 3:42 rear towed better than the older engine with a 4:10 rear. So, you would need to think it out and write down what you are planning to use the truck for and figure it out. If you’re planning to do lighter welding and buying one of the new smaller welding machines you may be able to make the mega cab bed work for you. My thought again would be to get the bed box measurements and lay it out with soap stone on a concrete floor, then measure your design thoughts into that to be sure everything will fit etc. If you want an oilfield/ pipeline rig I would go for a full size box as the cargo capacity would be the MAIN THING! Thanks Mr. Brister, My go to will be then a 8ft bed, dually 4x4, oilfield/pipeline rig, just like you said megacabs are to accommodate passengers, not cargo. Will rather go with more tool/cargo capacity then cab capacity. Sometimes you have to go with what sets you up for success and not failure, so you don’t regret it later down the road. I never was a big barbecue cook, to much trouble for a fast moving pipeline. Now some pipe gangs would get ahead of us on Saturdays and have something cooked. We would just keep welding until we got to them. Chip some money in , eat then fire back up. If our production was good all week, we would usually get of 2 hrs early on Saturdays for personal needs etc. Thank you James!😉😄

I like traditional country music because it’s a more pure American music and a lot of the songs are about life, love, family, and Country. ADJUSTING A RACK IS A SPECIAL APPLICATIONS ONLY TECHNIQUE.YOU HAVE TWO TINY CENTER PUNCH MARKS ON THE RACK. WHEN THESE TWO MARKS ARE LINED UP THAT IS YOUR FACTORY SETTING. IF YOU LOOSEN THE BOLT THAT THAT HOLDS THE RACK POSITION AND BUMP THE RACK NO MORE THAN ABOUT ONE SIXTEENTH CLOCKWISE AT A TIME IT WOULD CAUSE THE WELD PUDDLE TO THICKEN A LITTLE MORE AND THERE BY FILL A BEVEL UP A LITTLE FASTER IN THE HIGHER 240 RANGE. IF YOU BUMPED THE RACK THE SAME SIXTEENTH COUNTERCLOCKWISE IT WOULD INCREASE THE DRIVE AND HEAT IN THE 240 RANGE AND CAUSE ALLOW YOU TO GET MORE TRAVEL INCHES OUT OF A WELDING ROD WHEN RUNNING THE ROOT PASS [ BEADS] SO THOSE WERE THE TWO MAIN REASONS TO EVER MESS WITH IT. FILL AND CAPPING A LITTLE FASTER OR RUNNING YOUR BEADS A LITTLE FASTER. DEPENDED ON WHERE YOU WERE WORKING ON THE LINE. FIRING LINE, BEADS, ETC. IF YOU WERE DOING TIE IN WELDS OR FABRICATION YOU HAD NO REASON TO EVER TOCH THAT RACK. IF YOU DIDNT KNOW WHAT YOU WERE DOING YOU COULD MESS UP HOW THE MACHINE WELDED PRETTY QUICK. I HAD A RESPECTED PIPELINE MECHANIC ADVISE ME NOT TOCH THE RACK. INSTEAD HE TOLD ME I COULD ACCOMPLISH ALMOST THE SAME THING BY ADJUSTING THE RPMS UP OR DOWN A LITTLE. TURN DOWN THE RPM'S TO STACK METAL [MAX 50] LESS THAN FACTORY. MORE THAN THAT AND YOUR DC CURRENT FOR YOUR POWER TOOLS WILL BE TOO LOW. FOR FASTER BEADS YOU COULD ADJUST THE RPM'S HIGHER OR SOME OLD TIMERS WOULD PUT A DIME UNDER THE GOVENOR ADJUSTMENT. THEN REMOVE IT FOR NORMAL WELDING. ALL OF THESE ADJUSTMENTS WERE USUALLY ONLY USED WHEN WORKING ON LARGE DIAMETER HEAVY WALL PIPE. YOU SHOULD NEVER NEED TO TOUCH THAT FACTORY RACK SETTING.RACKING A WELDING MACHINE TODAY IS USUALLY DONE DURING BACK YARD BARBECUES BY OLDER WELDERS TELLNG WELDING WAR STORIES FROM THE PAST!! TY

I have finished all my post hospital check ups . I was told I am a walking miracle. A normal heart function is a score of 55. My score is now at 50. I was 80+ % blocked in both main arteries in the front of my heart. I was told that cardiologist call a heart attack here a ……widow maker…..! I was told I am now 100% unblocked and free flowing. My heart score is off only 5 points and should mostly heal in time. I was told all my vital signs are normal.

My mother in law was raised as a Jehovah’s Witness . She was born again latter in life in her 50’s, so I understand a little of where you are speaking and coming from theologically . So it might have been logical to enter into some discussion based on theology, but I was not led to do that. Instead as soon as I read your text I knew that would not help you. My mother in law told me she was so full of theology she had been raised with, that when people tried to convert her it just turned into a doctrinal dog fight. She was finally able to be converted ( born again) when someone said forget the theology, let’s learn about Who Jesus is. So she pushed all the theology away and just read about Jesus. When I read your text, my mind went back to 1978. I was sent to job offshore that I really did not want to go on. I wrestled with it, finally I decided to go. I still did not want to go, but I thought I was suppose to go! When I got to the Job and met my supervisor, I realized he was a divine appointment , and demons had tried to keep me w away from him. He was a VA certified PARANOI

Paranoid schizophrenic . Most people when they know your a serious Christian will be kind, but kind of leave you alone. Not this guy, he would seek me out to talk. He opened his brief case one day and showed me a 9mm pistol and about a dozen prescription meds. Little by little he told me his story. Basically lied about his age joined the marine Corp during the Vietnam war. Did two tours. On the second tour his deep jungle ambush team got ambushed. 5 were captured 2 of those wounded. Your general orders if captured are to try and escape. He came up with a plan to escape at night and hide right next to there prison camp in an animal borrow next to a stream of water, so the dogs couldn’t track him. It worked, he escaped made it to the burrow and hide out all night and the next day until they gave up looking for him . The bad news was because he had escaped they executed the others. From his position he saw it all. Later he made his way back to American positions put was a mess after that and discharged back into civilian life. We would talk for hours about being born again and having Jesus as your savior and obtaining forgiveness for your sins etc. he wasn’t fighting it, but he kept saying to me I don’t know if I have enough faith to believe. I was getting frustrated, I wanted him to get saved and find some peace, but I was out of words. I left and went to my room , I prayed, lord help him, I don’t know what to say, he is so confused. I opened up my Bible at random to a scripture that says faith to believe, comes by hearing, and hearing or reading the word of God! I had an old worn Bible I carried in my welding shield bag. I took it out, walked into his office , and slammed it down on his desk in front of him and said if you want the faith to believe and be saved, all you need to do is read 4 books in this Bible . Read the gospels about Jesus. Mathew, mark , Luke, and John. Just read about Jesus, nothing else and God will give you the faith to honestly believe . 2 days later my job was over with and I flew out. About 6 weeks go by and I get a call from this guy and he sounded calm, different. I said how are you doing, he said I’m doing fine now. I did what you told me, I started reading about Jesus and 2 weeks ago I just quietly realized that I believed the story. I closed my eyes and told Jesus I was a sinful man that had no hope, you promised if came to you I could be forgiven , I’m taking you up on that offer ,please forgive me and change my life. He told me I’m a different man now! So, I’ve said all this to illustrate that God provides everything for a person to be saved, except the want to, we have to want to, from there we just need to read or hear story of Jesus, and God will give us the FAITH TO BELIEVE AND THEN ASK!
