I have 4 big dogs. All eat raw. All the healthiest dogs imaginable. If you possibly can I would also advocate for a raw diet with lots of bones. 🐕🐕🐕🐕

Ahh, wow, how was amazing these friendship isn't... Aww dear me this!!! 😇💘
If nothing else works, get a mean, tough old tomcat who's been used to dogs. Any dog that's too pushy discovers what two fistfuls of razor blades can do; but if it's polite, will have the cat leaning up against it pretty soon.

The gsd doesn’t seem to be high prey drive. When I hold my kite in front of the gsd, he won’t even eat a treat for good behavior. He ignores the treat because he is so obsessed with the cat. I’m so afraid they won’t get along. How do I train a dog that refuses the treats???

do not listen to any of this rubbish. Every case I have seen, the dog ends up killing the cat, no matter how well trained the dog is. The prey drive always kicks in. It is genetics.

Thank you so much for this!! I got a full grown German Shepherd, 6 years old, for my daughter who is autistic. He is wonderful with her and my other daughter, age 7. However, we've been having trouble with him getting along with our cat, Shoes, who is 4 years old. They do really great when they are on my bed with me together, but when they are out in the house during the day, they clash, big time! This is great advice for me, and I can't thank you enough for sharing!! Many hearts and love to you and Thank You Again!

I have a 2 month old kitten that is currently being kept in our master suite to acclimate to our home. He's doing great. He & my almost 2 year old GSD male watch each other through the glass door. My GSD has a high prey drive & likes to chase geese & birds on the river, squirrels in our back yard & stray cats out of our back yard. He was great with our last adult cat, but she was a big old girl when he was a pup. Now its reversed....he's a big moose and one wayward smack of the paw could be lethal. Or if he picked him up and shook him. I'm so reluctant to introduce them for a long time. They see each other, smell each other's bedding etc. I will try the food technique you used. Any advice is welcome! Thank you!

+Jeannine M Also hold the cat kitten in your hand and pet it in front of the GSD. He will know that this is family now.

+rotkob I need that technique to work for me... my 1 year old cat is hissing whenever I let the 3 months old gsd pup and the cat to see each other through a mesh window.. even the puppy barks and go away from there... should I continue doing thus act?? bcoz I'm sure my cat won't be in my hands if she sees the puppy she runs away..

hey did flame ever have any skin problems? cause has horrible skin problems that seem to get really bad in the summer. they have gotten so bad this year that i did my research and finally switched him over to raw diet in hopes that it will help. thank you for your time

Alex Mondragon What kind of skin problem?
@ELDRAGONMESSI10189 жыл бұрын
I believe they are hot spots that he bites at and makes them bleed. Does flame have something similar?
@rotkob9 жыл бұрын
Alex Mondragon If it's very bad, you need to take it to the vet. If at the beginning, wash the area with warm water and soap and make sure that it's dry all the time. You may need to place a cone on the dog's head to prevent it from biting itself. This happens when the weather is humid and the dog is bored. It has nothing to do with diet.
@ELDRAGONMESSI10189 жыл бұрын
So then ur dog also get this? I want to avoid steroids or antibiotic injections. Its not extremely bad but its just extremely sad :c
@rotkob9 жыл бұрын
Alex Mondragon Yes she got it a couple times. Now I know when to spot it early on and prevent it from developing.

When I introduced some new kittens we all sat with my two GSD on sofa,and fed them tiny treats as the kittens climbed all over; we made much of the two dogs We repeated this for a while. They all got on well and in fact the Mau used to rub all around the dog. It takes commonness and much time and patience. Unfortunately though, some GSDs are terrors with cats and cannot go into a home with them many rescued dogs are like this, all down to bad management and treatment.

@rotkob10 жыл бұрын
This problem will not go away until your GS is about one year old. What you can do for now is every time there a problem between them, say STOP and have a treat for both of them. They will stop instantly and wait for the treat. Hope this will help.
@TerryTraumatize9110 жыл бұрын

Do you still feed raw, if so what school of thought do u follow, (BARF...)
@rotkob10 жыл бұрын
Alex Mondragon Yes I do. I can just simply say that it has been successful with no problems whatsoever. Having mentioned that, I'd like to say now that I'd rather feed a veggie based diet, but I haven't done enough research on that.

***** At three weeks, you have to grind up the meat and bone because, in the wild, usually the mother would go hunt, eat the kill, and regurgitate it for the puppies. At five weeks, when they're weening off from the milk, you don't have to grind the meat anymore and they are able to eat it. Since this puppy is about seven weeks old, she's more than ready to handle a whole raw chicken on her own. :)

great…i have rescue cats and also just got a rescue GSD…my cats are in a confined area behind patio doors, with 4 cat condos, and a cat door to an enclosure…My GSD has been here a few days…he was able to see them thru the glass doors and initially he barked and i made sure he had no access…close to a week later, i noticed less and less barking and a cat and dog were nose to nose at the glass. I am taking my time with the introduction and will make sure it is done under calm circumstances with family…and treats…Thanks for posting this…am optimistic...

Very nice GSD pup & what an amazing job you seem to be doing with her so far. The people who get these puppies, because they are just just such a cute little thing. They take them home and all everybody wants to is "snuggle" with the new family "toy". Then when their cute fuzzy "toy" get up 40-50 lbs & wants to eat their expensive leather furniture they suddenly don't understand why that "damn dog" won't listen to them. so it is very nice to see someone doing such a good job from the start.

Rotkop if you can please answer my question. I just got a German shepherd about a month ago the puppy is 2 months old right now, did you had any trouble with your dog suck as biting you? If you did can you please tell me how you stop or taught Ed how to stop biting you, because my puppy bites and I tried different methods but they don't work for me.

Nice, you're a good trainer! I love the phone tracking video. To anyone in the comments section training your dogs, make sure you don't practice commands in the same order every time! My Rottweiler puppy started to anticipate, instead of obey. I'd do 'sit, lay down. sit, lay down. sit, lay down.' After 5 minutes of that, she'd just lay down when I said 'sit'.

I enjoy doggie video clips on KZbin. They continually make me grin. However the vast majority of people are gradually over time KILLING their family dogs (without realizing it). The shit companies insert into pet food creates varieties of cancer and makes family dogs die early. I learned the tough way. My doggy passed away aged 6. To save your animal's life search for Double Life Dog Diet (Try looking in Google.)

The puppy should not be allowed to antagonize the cat, ever. Remember, no matter what the cat does to the dog, it cannot kill it, but the reverse is true. The owner should be the leader and insist that the puppy be polite with all kitties. They will never bond if the cat feels timid of the dog.

I totally agree with you Rob. I am on my second GSD puppy that I just got for Christmas as my first GSD passed away in Novemeber... Yes these little guys are easy to train most of the time for someone who knows what they are doing. If you dont know how to train a dog make sure you seek professional help. And GSD's are a little aggressive on the bite when they are young its something you have to train out of them!
