Hand Feeding a Baby Dove

the dove will have an automatic chug reflex if you allow it to probe your finger then gently hold your thumb down on it's beak, it will then start chugging and you can feed it with ease as it will practically feed itself. I fed one up to full adult that still hangs around today back in 2006.

how long did it take for the baby to eat seeds; it have a baby mourning dove in a tree and i wanted to know when i could feed it seeds for doves and pigeons

How many times per day do they eat? I found one similar to that size, maybe a little bit older because it has more feathers, I am feeding it with special baby bird food. It's name is Pichon :)

You didn't have to open it's beak to feed it. Just do like a mother dove and place your thumb and forefinger over the top of it's beak and it will start the chug reflex to feed. I gave mine to a friend as it was flying around the house flying to me every chance it got. . My friend let him go out in his yard and has lived there for three years now coming and going as he pleases. He will even come peck on the window to be let in for a treat.

I took mine to the backyard standing on my hand and trusting that it wouldn't fly, but it did and never came back.

I found an easy way to feed the little boogers I found two doves that look same age and tried with a droper but was hard to get them to open them beeks up got a free 6mil syringe at my local drugstore just told the nice gale I was trying to help to baby birds lol cutness wins again. I tried it and had same problem then after watching some vids to see how they eat I found cuting off most or the tip and making hole big works perfect they can stck there beaks in it now and suck out food
