Thank you so very much! It is absolutely astounding and incomprehensible to see the difference in the way of life and Scotland compared to England in the 1700s. I definitely will put this on my bucket list for when I go to Scotland!

“St. Giles is nearly 900 years old”. So it was originally a Catholic cathedral. Sad

Wasn’t MQOS born in 1542, not 1567?

It was Jacobite rebels versus the government. Scotland is part of Britiain and the referendum not so long ago confirmed this.

Sheila here. I had to go back and resubscribe and relike all the videos because after being a KZbin user since launch many years ago and a long time premium customer I ran into content i couldn't block that was so depraved I cried for hours. I was so distraught I cancelled and deleted my account but I'm back although apparently I can't be SheilaLS anymore. This is not only one of my favorites of your videos but certainly one of the best of all KZbin. I need all the rainbows I can get. Don't we all? Thank you again for posting this tour. I truly treasure it.

Thank you for a great, and informative tour! I have 3 different lineages of Davidsons, plus others from Scotland, and I long to tour where my ancestors trod. I’m originally from East Tennessee, along the western edge of the Appalachians, and yes, the Highland village does look a lot like where I’m from. I subscribed to your channel, and look forward to vicariously visiting, until I can do it in person.

Is there any memorial to speak of for Andrew Moray, who co-commanded the Scots army?

There are no ghosts here. You are in the land of the sacred tree and the Sith. The Beech tree shown is short lived and also introduced.

My family moved to New Zealand and Australian after the clearances. We still play the bagpipes, wear the family kilt and participate in Highland Games. I took a recent DNA test and am 85% Scottish and 10% Norwegian. My mum always sends a message on the Bards - Rabbie Burns birthday. “Auld Lang Syne”

How beautiful, clean, & tidy everything is, a remembrance of what my grandmother taught me to be by her example & my scholastic educational validated her knowledge explicitly. Amen!

My grandmother was Scottish. We were extremely close. She lived with us for a time. I loved her wisdom. She was a great lady & adored by the entire family. Her family was from Edinburgh. I will never forget the lady. Thank you for reminding me of the spirit of Scotland. I am proud to have Scottish blood in my veins.

The grassmarket wasn’t just a livestock market. It was also Edinburghs corn exchange. You walked right over the inscription on the slabs.

The ‘Eye of Providence’ - an eye set within a triangle - is one such symbol, associated with Freemasonry but also linked with the apocryphal Illuminati, a secret group of elite individuals allegedly seeking to control global affairs.
