I’m originally from East Tennessee, along the western edge of the Appalachians, and yes, the Highland village does look a lot like where I’m from. My family moved to New Zealand and Australian after the clearances. We still play the bagpipes, wear the family kilt and participate in Highland Games. I took a recent DNA test and am 85% Scottish and 10% Norwegian. My mum always sends a message on the Bards - Rabbie Burns birthday. “Auld Lang Syne”

My grandmother was Scottish. We were extremely close. She lived with us for a time. I loved her wisdom. She was a great lady & adored by the entire family. Her family was from Edinburgh. I will never forget the lady. Thank you for reminding me of the spirit of Scotland. I am proud to have Scottish blood in my veins.

The grassmarket wasn’t just a livestock market. It was also Edinburghs corn exchange. You walked right over the inscription on the slabs.

We will be staying in the Grassmarket area in October while visiting Edinburgh for the first time. This video made me think we made a good decision.
