With homeschooling, you don’t have to deal with an education consultant’s ideology. Children have such a richer educational experience at home. I learn so much from these videos.

I love this, my daughter is having a hard time with math in the good and the beautiful and I think it’s because of all the beauty and “fluff.” She sounds a lot like how your son started, I’m interested in trying this curriculum and see if I can get her to enjoy it a little more. Which means I’ll enjoy it more. 😆

Thanks for the review! Could you please tell me approximately how long your son took to complete volume 1? Volume 2? I know that every child is different, but am just wondering how long it took your son. Have you continued through all 7 volumes? What is your opinion on the complete program? How long has it taken to go through the volumes? Thanks, again! 🙂

I appreciate you coming back. We HS too and some of the questions. Wow. Im amazed at how snarky people get. I planned a homeschool prom for our kiddos and it was one of the best nights of my own life! 😂 we live rural and had just under 30 kids... their self expression was so cool. Allllll of them danced. It was just fun! I feel like i just accomodate what my kids feel like theyre "missing" out on. Like dances, field trips, hang outs. This summer our house has been the teen gathering spot. I never wanted to be that parent BUT, God has grown me and taught me how to be that parent. Hope your new school year goes amazingly well! ❤

Thanks for your video! I have a question. My 15 year old has an IEP plan but I’m going to start homeschooling, I’m just a little confused on what to put on my PSA where it asks about providing special needs services? Do I put yes because of the IEP? Would I need to attach a copy to my PSA? I’d really appreciate the help, thanks again and hope you and you’re family are doing well!! It gave me so much hope to hear your sons reaction in his reevaluation.
@thequarteracre4914
@thequarteracre4914 Жыл бұрын
Hi, I did not did not put down any special needs services on my PSA. Because they're no longer special needs services they're just services that you provide. In your regular classroom you will be meeting their needs but if there are outside therapies that he or she requires like speech therapy or things like that that something that you're going to have to make arrangements for but it doesn't necessarily need to be included in the PSA. But don't take my word for it what worked for me may not work for you and you should reach out to HSA and definitely pay for their monthly membership because they are an amazing resource!

There are so many different options for homeschooling I recommend first going to hslda.com and finding out what the laws are in your state. Then looking at the different homeschooling options that are available to you in your state and making a choice based on those. I customize my curriculum for each child and for each subject I haven't found a one size fits-all academy or program that meets their needs. It can mean some research and trial and error but it's definitely been worth it to watch them grow.

@thequarteracre4914
@thequarteracre4914 2 жыл бұрын
When he was in public school we never had him take State tests. Now that he is doing a charter High School at home program he has to do some testing and the testing that he did do showed leaps and bounds improvements over where he was it shows that he's still a little bit behind in math but I believe that that is because the test is all done on a computer and he is a paper and pencil kind of guy.

I'm homeschooling a 7th grader who was very much in the same boat. I heard about learn math fast but he kinda needs the color in order to feel interested. So we went with TGTB math4 in order to get him to have confidence in math. Because he had the same "I'm just bad at math" mentality but we're now over half way through the book and he no longer hates math because he has that confidence of, "no wait, I can do math"

Just a question, how much would you do a day? Is it a “lesson” a day type of thing?
@thequarteracre4914
@thequarteracre4914 2 жыл бұрын
It really depends on your student and where you are at and how comfortable they are with the material. In the beginning we could do a lesson or two or sometimes three a day, but as we've gone on sometimes one lesson will take us multiple days. I always have my student read the chapter, attempt the worksheet on their own, and if they score a c or better they may move on to the next lesson if they do not score a c or better then we redo the worksheet together before we move on.

Do I need to buy the worksheet books that they sell separately or are they same as ones you can print online? Common core is stupid! Good for you! So, those conceptual ideas, the drawing the circles, should only be used to introduce the concept- as the abstract-then be related and transitioned into the abstract-the numbers and symbols. Sad to hear it’s being used wrong, and messing up so many kids! Thank you!

SUGGESTION: Initially, to capture the attention of children use actual "masking units" such as pencil boxes or envelopes, and "counting units" such as snack size pieces of candy or coins to create "Concrete Demonstrations" of the slightly more abstract “VisuallyConcreteEquations” videos ..... Make your own Playlists from the hundreds of examples provided .... Begin with simple Arithmetic videos containing no notational solutions ... Algebraic videos with signed numbers are then viewed to be just a different and clever way to add or subtract units ...
