Always been a fan of the atmospheric 1934 Dorsey Brother's Orchestra version of it. But this pleasing swinging Goodman one is satisfactory too.

There's little to add to henridelagardere's evocative and eloquent comment... I can only reiterate this is a touching song I've never heard before, exquisitely sung and played by Jack Cooper and the consistently noble and refined Bert Ambrose. Thank you so much dear Julian for sharing!

A song about man's best friend is always nice for a change, we've got love songs galore, I'd say. It's most welcome when I've never heard it before, and yet I could instantly picture Rags thanks to John Egan's evocative lyrics. This canine cantata exudes an endearing, down-home feeling, the trotting rhythm would also be fitting for a cozy covered wagon rolling over the prairie, with Rags by your side. This kind of domestic innocence soon was to give way to wartime sentimentality, and now it's long gone, of course. There was never anything shady about Ambrose's musical pedigree, he and his men just had class, a great gift, thank you, Julian!

Not often the theme of a song indeed. Why is that? People really seem to love these pet songs. Harry Roy's _My Girl's Pussy_ has more than 1.2 *million* views, absolutely astonishing for a 93-year-old record.

This feelgood tune based on Emmanuel Chabrier's rhapsody "España" (mention of this fact in your excellent notes is most appreciated!) is so delightfully sparkling and cheerful, wonderfully performed by the vocal quartet with Hans Gonzelmann's orchestra! Your gramophone has a great sound. Have you got the Vera Lyn recording of this song? The Australian pressing of this Hylton gem was paired with Roses are blooming in Loveland by the New Mayfair Dance Orchestra. My copy got broken in a house move over 50 years ago. Have never found a replacement.

Thank you so much dear Julian for another precious Ilse Werner performance in this nostalgic, dreamy song... Its title couldn't be more to the point today, since so many good things and traditions are rapidly dwindling. Oh well, that's probably what is happening with every new generation. As for this rendition, it is so wonderfully delicate and refined, whereas the orchestral accompaniment by Werner Bochmann and the studio orchestra is superb too :-)
